Great times there Fryz 👍 I tried your previous settings and found the car very darty up front which could quicken the onset of oversteer, will try your revised ones tonight as the times speak for themselves!

Ran a good couple of laps today, the best of which is below:

T2: 1'38.039
T4: 3'16.449
T7: 5'45.679
T10: 7'55.981

Settings as follows:

118/118
3/3
1.8/0.8

I found that the above settings seemed to give the car good balance when entering corners, allowing you to "point and squirt" without much worry of having to correct the car all the time. I tested with camber set to 3.0/1.5 and 2.3/1.5, but found that the car tended to squirm a little too much under braking for my liking, especially braking for Aremburg.

I was all about getting in on this until I noticed the sad, sad, sight common known as "N" tires.

Oh well.
Will every week be on N tires?
If not, give me a holler next time a race is up.

Sad sad common sight?? N tyres have their place here im afraid , aswell as being the closest to "real life" tyres they more importantly teach you about car balance and weight transfer, as they overload quicker you have to drive very carefully to get the best out of em 👍

No not every week will be on N tyres, there is a structure to this series that says we will increase power and tuning as each week goes by and the same goes for tyres, we will use N3's a few times and then move onto S 1/2/3 and then race tyres.

Feel free to check in and race if you want tho Kent

Yeah, N2 tires are actually fun for this particular combo 👍

I never thought I would say that, but the car is really well balanced (I am talking about power/weight/traction-wise) and it's a blast taking it around the 'ring.

Now I came close so many times to have a sub 8 minute T10 that's getting kinda frustrating, though

I can't seem to finish a lap in a clean fashion before I hit T10, so I just abort and restart...

It's a good thing we have until Sunday 👍

MY GOD!!!! I wasted an hour and a half on this and all I had to show for it was one clean lap (slower than my current best) and a whole lot of grass on my rear end 🤬

The only good to come out of this disaster of an evening was that I tested GeeTeye's and Small's settings.

GEETEYE:
Couldn't get one clean run ... nada ... the car was way too snappy for me and - essentially - exhibited every trait I detest in this little monster 👎

DION'S ... now Dion's were a JOY to work with. I kid you not when I say that I was over a second faster at T1 alone and the car behaves much, much, MUCH more predictably. Now, granted, I come from the school of SUCK and I can't really do his settings justice, but they brought so much stability to the MX that I'm going to try using them on my damned Z28 Camaro in the AMC (Which tends to handle the same way). So, Dion, a definite 👍

I kept on braking my current times, left my ghost standing a gazilllion times and could push harder than before ... now all I have to do is stop hemorrhaging time like a cheap watch.

Ive tried having the front ride height lower than rear, but nah.

I dont think i can make the car much better unless i have spring rates and staberlizers to play with.

I was about 2 seconds ahead of my ghost coming into the mini karuseull only to crash .

I think there is about 3 more seconds in it for me, but is very hard to find.

BTW make sure you guys check ya power!, i was going slow and found out i was 5hp short!!, it makes a big difference on such a slow car, gave it an oil change and was back to fast again .

If you don't mind me asking Dion - and if this makes any sense - but what was the thought process behind your settings? I really want to learn more about this stuff so I can intelligently tackle it myself from time to time, but I didn't know where to start.

1 thing you need to remember, just because when you change x, car does y in real life or even GT3 doesnt mean its the same for GT4. So somethings look back to front (arse about face ), but hey!, thats what works. BTW the only bit of this quote i changed was correct settings.

My settings so far.

Front ride height 116, rear is min (higher front than rear gives less oversteer, low ride height has less body roll, so corners better and weight shifting isnt so eratic. Too low and car is very bouncy as he lower you take this the higher you need spring rates to stop bottoming out.)
Front Damper is 10 rear is 4 (higher front than rear = less oversteer softer settings are good for bumpy tracks, too hard and the car jumps a bit over bumps, too soft and car is very floaty over bumps and I think it has more body roll.)
Front camber is 2.5 rear is 1.5 (normally dont run more than 3 for front, and 1.5 - 2 for rear. normally want a bit for both, as when the car turns the tires roll and thus if you have some camber the tires will roll and all the tyre surface will be on the track and thus give you most grip)


Nurb normally needs a meduim setup, not to soft because its fast, but not to hard because its bumpy, but this car is slow and the ride height is still very high even at min setting, so you can have min setting ride height but still quite a soft setup for dampers, you dont want too soft though or the body roll is bad and thus makes oversteer and cornering as well as controlling the car even worse.

Like i said, with out spring rates and staberlizers it is hard to get rid of the body roll and tune out the oversteer.

Small_Fryz i tried your revised settings mate, i spun before i even got to the start line went into that right hander before start finish straight and rotated like a ballerina on ice!!

Its obvious that some settings work well for some and not others, i liked geeteye's set up and have been chatting with Scaff on this matter and ended up trying 120/120 - 4/4 - 2.0/1.0 which works very well for me the car being biased to gentle understeer on the limit and the back kept well in check most of the time, talking to times ive shaved a bit off mine but am struggling to find that "great lap" and keep messing up somewhere or other, coming back to it at the weekend as posting next weeks cars tomorrow...

Young_Warrior would be still good if you submit a time, if your slow it doesnt matter, the idea of the series is to learn and get quicker, missing the first few weeks where you can learn at a slower pace could hold you up furthur down the line, and remember there are points down to 16th place which are worth having 👍

YW, submit a time ANYWAY ... 1) you'll learn the track and corners even more, 2) you'll earn SOME points which is better than none, and 3) you'll start to develop friendly rivalries which add sooooooooo much fun to the OLR and GT4.

I can see that even by T2 I'm down a few seconds I have had a 1'39 several times, but 1'38? 1'37? I've got some work to do here!

Conversely, by T4 the gap is the same, so I'm taking this okay and even by T7 I lose only another second (?) ... so clearly my weakest stage is actually ... the bloody beginning 🤬

I think I'll watch some replays from the warm up to see what the lines should be.
