Well it's a trade off.

If you sit closer then you see less of the cockpit but more of the road.
If you sit further you see more of the cockpit but less of the road.

There's nothing wrong with either of them, I'm only saying that people should be given a choice. That way everyone's happy:tup:

well said! PC racing sims have had this feature for at least 6 or 7 years and works well for a game with multiple cars - in some cars I like to move the seat forward and in some cars I like to move the seat back.
👍

This has been confirmed that you can change your POV in GT5

"One of the first tracks I set up on my own was Madrid. The Trans-Cammer has a high enough air scoop on the hood that you will have to carefully watch where you are going, if you use the dashboard view, because it will partially block your view. The forward-back distance from the steering wheel will be adjustable allowing you to set it as you wish, within its limits. I presume we have only seen some sort of fixed default cockpit view because we were not offered a way of adjusting it."

I think most of the cars need a cockpit before they can create this.

There actually is FOV option! check out amar's post :)

Test Drive Unlimited has THE best cockpit adjustment ever. You can change your seat in ANY direction you want. Up down forward back. It doesnt get any better than that. Plus you can roll your windows up and down too. :sly:

Then what are you waiting for son! Go play some TDU!!!!

No but seriously that would be a good feature.

Lucky GT5 has that feature.
But I noticed the drivers position doesn't change , the picture just gets zoomed in , because if you move a little foward on the seat the street doesn't appears soo much closer.

yeah, I think that is why the PC games I have played with moveable FOV (foward-backward) have the option for "Virtual rear-view mirror."

Too bad in TDU it feels more like you're driving a spaceship instead of a car ;)

Anyway- this FOV is probably the best to anyone with a wheel and prefer using cockpit view with Premium cars.

I'm willing to bet in TT competition when you're going after time, bumper cam still proves the fastest and most informative in term of clipping point and hitting the apex but this will be close.

Yeah.

Its good to see GT5 has some options for FOV, but it would have been nice to see a full range of options for FOV settings and seat positions ala PC sims.

That actually looks too narrow to me. It looks like the sort of FOV you'd have if you had 3 screens, so you'd end up with your mirrors on the side screens and still be able to see a lot of the track. But from that picture, the track is a bit too zoomed it. It reminds me of playing RACE/GTR with the FOV set to around 60%.
