It's a simple fact that a wheel, in the right hands, is faster than a pad. It just is. Certain people who are brilliant with a pad can get close to them and beat people who aren't that good with the wheel, but they're the exception. The wheel is in theory the faster input method, you can't deny that. It should be pretty obvious when the thing we're simulating is controlled in the same way.

With that being said separating the two in any way wouldn't be wise. There are various factors in why one driver is faster than the other, be it skill, their input, their choice of vehicle and they can all balance out in races. It's just something you have to put up with and if you want to be up at the top of the leaderboards you either have to buy a wheel or get insanely good with the pad. Having a separate leaderboard for each would be splitting the community.

Do we have a new Zuel on our hands?

I can't get over that 10 seconds... if that's the case, everybody setting decent times on a DS3 would have to be an alien on disproportionate levels.

Do we have a new Zuel on our hands?
Maybe. I wonder if somebody could lend him a wheel, and then we can see him join that 99% of elite racers who are 10 seconds faster than everyone else.

I also want to find what language "B'Koz" is

I will openly say a wheel is faster. BUT it has been proven that's it's only worth a few tenths by previous time trials and GT Academy leader boards. And those couple tenths don't even hold much weight because you have to look at how 99 percent of highly skilled GT players end up investing in a wheel. So there isn't even much opportunity for the pad to rise to the top, yet somehow, magically..... It does.

Not by 10 seconds though

The DS3 is probably popular because there are still lots of people who are quick, but don't treat it like a full on sim. Most people buy it as a game rather than a racing sim, so the DS3 is just what they'll have at hand.

There is no point bringing specific times into it because it's about individual talent, I'm talking about the absolute maximum potential of the two methods. The wheel has the pad beat in the same way a Mercedes F1 car currently has a Ferrari F1 car beat. That doesn't mean the Ferrari can't beat the Mercedes, depending on the drivers and situation, but it has the most potential to be fastest. Same for the wheel vs pad.

As for the 10 second gap no, of course that isn't all down to wheel, it's wheel and skill. Me personally I'm faster with a wheel than a pad but I'm 4+ seconds off the best times no matter what, and that's all skill (and my lack of it). Someone else coming along and beating my times by 4 seconds with a pad is again down to skill, both in general and using the pad. Could that person be faster still with a wheel? Maybe, maybe no, point is the wheel has the potential to be faster and always will.

We all get that. But see if you say anything at all about a wheel being faster wanchek will cling to it like a baby on a binky. So I have to point out that why yes historically it is faster, but not his problem.

A wheel will definitely be faster in the right hands, but some think it's an immediate fix for their lack of practice.

Doesn't work like that.

Who said"immediately"?! Where did u read that?!?!

Even@roscolove said that on wheel lap
Times are faster but on another hand he's just tolling here.
Ya'll said"practice, practice, practice", but at the end"on wheel driving is faster"! Hahahah....!! Epic!

You're not trying to practice with a DS3, and you're making up figures and then trying to tell us a wheel is 10 seconds faster. It blatantly isn't.

Well that is the long and short of it.

With a controller you can practice, practice practice and eventually you'll hit your ultimate lap time. It may be right up there with the top guys, it may be several seconds off. It may be faster than you can go with a wheel, it may be slower.

All you can say with certainty is that the wheel has the POTENTIAL to be faster. Everything else is down the variable of skill.

Honda Wieder Raybirg 650pp, my
Setup, (a solid one), Nurburgring Nordschleife, my time 5:51.063 here is the time 5:42 I think but also driven with Wieder Raybirg.

Sooo, that are the"10"seconds!!

Edit: I drove on the Nurb like 2000km, and I know what am I talking about!

@rosckolove is not trolling because they are right that the DS3 can be as fast as good wheel drivers. And again, the wheel is not actually faster, it is easier and more seem less, causing people who practice hard on it to be quicker more easily. DS3 users who put the same effort in with practice will be just as quick though.

Doesn't work like that.

For those who are very familiarized with the DS3,a wheel could be even harder. Definitelly it's not an immediate fix.

So you asked a question, but whenever you get an answer to the question you don't like you immediately think that they are wrong? What was the point of asking this question? Some people are actually trying to help you and yet you're just denying everything they say and you still assume that you can do anything good without practice, sim racing is not a pick-up and get top 10 in leaderboard type of thing. Almost every type of physical activity requires practice to get good at.

With that sentence"it is easier and more seem less causing people who practice hard on it to be quicker more easily", you're point (and mine as well) ist that on wheel everything is easier, driving, controlling the car, be more precise etc etc, and those few fact makes you faster, of course you've to know how to drive on a wheel!

You are slow. You are slow because of you. You are slow because you can't admit that you are slow. You will remain slow because you can't identify your mistakes. You will remain slow because you blame your lack of equipment rather than your lack of skill. You will remain slow because you don't take the advice of people much more knowledgeable than you. You will remain slow because you don't take the advice of people much faster than you. I'm pretty sure all of that is allowed in this forum. However your general replies to what has been written in every thread leads me to believe you have some other issues (outside of the game) that may very well get me in trouble if stated openly. I'll just say your mentality (or lack there of) will forever hold you back. And I'm not just talking about the game.

10 seconds on such a long track is evidence that they put in a lot more practice than you have to become better.

Klingon.

Anyway, I missed what the question was and I don't really see how a wheel vs. pad comparison will particularly assist anyone with GT6, so this has been moved to the GT6 main forum. I did spot this though:
@roscolove, I dare you and everyone, go on a Nurb and do you're time with an Wieder Raybirg, 6500pp, ds3 stick.

Do you're lap, record it and post it as a proof!
How will this help?

Surely if you're comparing wheel to DS3 you'll need people to do their laps with both? Incidentally, which "Nurb" (there's five), what weather conditions/time of day, what tyres and what setup?

Wheel driving isn't easier, it's just more realistic, and if somebody spends 20 years of their life driving cars in real life, they'll probably have an easier chance learning how to drive GT6 with a wheel instead of a DS3 because it is familiar with them.

You may know what you're talking about and you may know the Nurb inside out but it's a HUGE track. Losing 10 seconds over a lap is very easy no matter what the control device and if you don't have the skill, you don't have the skill. Just look at the license tests. Some of them are 20 seconds long, one corner, and you can still easily lose half a second or more. Extrapolate that over the massive course and it's pretty easy to be miles off the best times.

I also know the Nurb very well, I know every corner and where it goes, how to drive it. However no matter what I use to drive with I'm still miles off the best guys. Simply because they have more skill.

Grab a ds3 controller, come on track with me and I'll prove that you're wrong inf front of all ppl
Here!

Simple is that....

So if he did that and beat your time by say 4 seconds, then what?

When in doubt, pull out the stats. I think we can all agree that the full Nurb is the most challenging course in the game, especially with a DS3. In the Corvette C7 TT there (http://www.mygranturismo.net/rankings.php?sec=3&board=110) , most of the big names in GT5 showed up to take a crack at it, and the legendary DHolland took the win by nearly a full second. Keep in mind, DHolland is probably the fastest sim pilot to ever to sit in front of GT game.

In the top 100 there were 10 DS3 stick players, the best of which was 24th, about 4.5 seconds off the pace, again, against the very best in the world. Interestingly, there were 3 pad users in the top 100 as well, the best of which was 64th. The second fastest of 1922 Canadians, in the 152 slot was Nic-KL with a pad.

I think the best sim racers almost always turn to a wheel and that skews the results a bit, but on the most difficult track in the game, it's still possible to get a top 100 time with a pad or the sticks. I've raced many people online who were as fast or faster than me with the sticks or a pad, including Nic. Maybe you can't be as fast as you can with a wheel but the gap is more like a second relative to the outright potential of a wheel, on your typical track not 10. Individual results will vary, a single person could be faster, slower or the same speed with both pieces of equipment, but a survey of nearly 80,000 is a better indicator of overall potential, if we are able to decipher the results.

Read the threads that I told you to search for. I doubt you will keep saying that. And also. I have don't almost 6000 miles on the ring in gt6 alone. Not kilometers. Miles. All that will be proved is every post in this thread with the exception of yours.

Nordschleife
Weather-sun
Tyres- I use RS
Setup-you're own

I'm asking ppl that they go driving on ds3 and try to beat mine time 5.51.063, as I say, Wieder Raybirg is the car...easy is that.

If y'all wanna drive with/out SEF or not or what ever, on you... Just drive and prove me my lack of skill!

Easier, but with practice, the DS3 can be equally as good as the wheel.

Go in Nordschleife, Wieder Raybirg, 650pp you're setup, you're everything... Time to beat 5.51.063, record as a proof and have fun :)
