@Doodle classic example of my statement above. We all know you're good, but touting ones own performance level by affixing the word "alien" to it just doesn't sit well with me. If one day I am ever able to reach that promise land, I could not fathom of calling myself an alien or even bragging about my skill level, as some have done in this thread. I guess I am just more humble than most, or maybe I just refuse to forget just how much practice and hard work it took me to get to be the average driver that I am today. I really can't believe some of the stuff I have read in this thread. Stay humble you guys and let your peers give you the praise, you will gain a lot more respect that way. 👍

I've tried the same settings! But it's hard to get the right feeling for this set up! I drive the Normal setup from the firs GT till now, and I drove a bit on xbox 360 Forza, and it's ok, when the throttle is on R2, but TBH tho, the xbox controller is far more better then the ds3!

I know it will have a learning curve but if you can change to it, you can have better throttle control and not need as much TC, thus making you, at least a little, faster.

@Doodle is one of the last people I would ever call "elitist." The interactions I've had with him have been him sharing tunes and giving others tips on how to go faster. He helped me pick up more than a second in a recent TT and certainly did not talk down to me for my lesser driving skills.

I'm also not sure why you're balking at the term "alien" when you yourself use the term "promised land" to describe that level of driving. The term "alien" has been used for quite a while now by average drivers like me to describe the top drivers. The fact is that he's in that "alien" group by every objective measure. Is he somehow forbidden from referencing that fact? If I went out and tried to drive a Mercedes F1 car and pronounced it "undrivable," would Lewis Hamilton then be "elitist" by pointing out that he could drive it just fine and that it required dedication and practice? Of course not.

No, he is not just stating his credentials. Using the term "alien" to describe yourself is being elitist and a bragger no matter how you look at it. There are a lot of more humbler ways to go about that conversation to avoid making yourself out to be an elitist bagger. As for your scenario, saying that you are a Harvard grad student is hardly the same as calling yourself an "alien" to describe your talents.

You have missed my point totally. Referencing ones own skill level as "alien", or any other adjective for that fact, just smells of elitism, I'm sorry. I have no problem with the word itself, but using it to describe your own talents is just being conceded. Like I said, I couldn't even bring myself to call myself that if I was of that skill level. Also, the "promise land" I spoke of is just in reference to the top 10 positions and/or D1 Gold in the WRS. Its just a general term I use.

Yeah, even before I got them, I felt like I was more efficient with throttle, but once I super glued these bad boys on, it helped. I actually found mine at my local target.

with an wheel u can be more precise, aggressive, and easier control the car, not to mention the perfect timing to control the throttle about off the corner without spining the wheels (all aids off) and hit the limiter.

How?

As I said before, if your conclusion is that a wheel allows the above and generates faster laptimes as a result, surely the test would be a comparison between wheel and DS3 for all users?

That's just absurd. By that logic, no-one could ever reference his or her own skills. I guess that's where we're headed in this country now with the "everyone's special" mantra being hammered into kids' brains, but it's rather sad, really.

Quoting lap times to show skill level makes the lap time function as an adjective in that sentence construction, so that, by your logic, is "elitist." Lewis Hamilton noting that he's an F1 race winner would be "elitism" under your logic. It's patently ridiculous.

Some people are better drivers than others. The best drivers have better insight into what is and what isn't possible both with a particular setup and with a particular car. All Doodle did was point out that he has the skills necessary to have some authority on the issue. That's not elitism, that's just honesty.
