When you look at the side mirror (while in cockpit view) The cars behind have such terrible graphics nearly 2D, i dont even know why that is the case now but i hope its fixed!

anyone else notice this?

I notice it, but pay no heed to it. Sure it gets annoying, but I rather have a better physics engine than sharp mirror reflection details. But I wouldn't worry about this issue, I'm sure PD will take care of it.:)

i couldn't agree more about physics/sound being the most important parts
but little minor things are hopefully addressed also,

just as the AA is rubbish and full blocked shadows, and grid patterns in the dirt/grass just horrible

Leve the mirrors alone, they are fine, as long you know something is behind you.. But yeah FIX THE AA PD!

This is merly a performance compromise and imo should not be changed. If the mirrors reflected everything in the rear view at full detail, framerate would probably half, cos instead of rendering whats ahaed in full detail, it will also be rendering what's behind in full detail, the main benfit of mirrors is to see the cars behind you, they don't have to be of great quality. I would rather them fix the hand movements and steering lock over that tbh.

nah they need to fix the side mirror reflections, they're rubbish, rear view mirror is fine, just the side mirrors are rubbish, as if i cant see them in the rear view i like to check my mirrors while driving so see how close they are to me so i dont hit them into a turn etc.
its just rubbish

There are times with the AA where the shadows in cockpit and back seats look perfect why cant they do that for all shadows?

I'm willing to bet a fair amount of money this will be fixed. As I've noticed this in GT5P, its merely a compromise for performance while in in the cockpit view. I'm sure by now they've made heaps of adjustments and optimizations. So I'd worry less about this. 👍

Edit: And the trees too.

I don't have prologue but I do have Ferrari challenge and it does the same thing. It is annoying when you are in a tight battle and are trying to look at the car behind you but the image in the mirror is blurry.

Correct! 👍

Fix the hand movement to 1:1 PD!! Put some racing driver and drift king to mocap suit if you have no idea how to do this.

I mentioned this to a friend recently and he said something that made me think and ill say it here. In cockpit view you are rendering the image once looking out of the windows, now imagine if you were to render that same image to the same high quality 4 times inside the cockpit for all the mirrors and the window screen, just imagine how much computing power that would take.

I would like them to fix the rearview mirror in bumper cam. In GT4 it sucked when you couldn't see the car behind you unless it was a night race.

in the thread POST YOUR GT5 VIDEOS HERE, someone posted an older video of GTHD and pointed out that the driver of the celica actually made full rotational movement, as opposed to 5P.

Frankly, I don't appreciate that none of the cupholders work.

I am fine with the side mirror reflection quality. Heck, I wouldn't mind if the cars were represented as squares or circles. I want to get some other features included instead!

BTW, I think the cars look pretty dang good in the mirrors. I can't see anything to complain about.

One thing I noticed thats hard about this, is shifting gears. When you shift gears, the gear shift is instant, although the movement is obviously delayed since it can't actually predict when you're going to shift gears. Although sometimes before the redline the drivers hand will go down towards the shifter to get ready to shift. But again this is something you can't avoid.

Well it predicts the best time to shift basically, some people can use it as an indicator when to shift, as for the hand movement there was a video ages back, (im talking when the shift indicator in the F430 did not even light up ages back, before prologue), and the hands did come of the wheel and carry on turning, but PD said it wasn't to the standard they wanted so they gave us this 180degree steering lark in prologue until they get the animations sorted.

I don't mind the crappy graphics in the mirror, I just wish that they would draw in your own car's reflection. You always here about big spoilers blocking rear visibility, yet we don't get to experience it. Plus it is hard to tell, sometimes, which side of the car your opponents on when they're behind you, because your spatial awareness is abit off while using the side mirrors, showing your opponent on both mirrors yet they should only be visible on one (unless the car is directly behind you).

Didn't know the mirrors were that far off, then again i never need to use them:p
This problem will probably be sorted on PS4, when we have raytracing:).

Not something I've ever noticed nor do I care about as I don't look in the mirror all that often.

Why do I have the feeling that a lot of people in here have forgotten how weak, the PS3, in terms of hardware really is. It has a 3 year old tech in it. You can't demand perfection when Polyphony has such a limited, from today’s standards, hardware configuration to work with.

If Kaz makes GT for PC then we can demand perfectionism.

The thing is, there is not one racing game on PC that comes anywhere near GT5 visually. I could never work out why though.

Exactly, i must admit im surprised what has been achieved in prologue alon graphics wise.

Though PS3 is not entirely out of date tech. It has Cell, which is more advanced than current PC processors, and it's ram is super fast XDR, trouble is there is not enough of it. I think PS4 will merly be the same tech scaled up, with a graphics chip using unified architechture like the current cream of the crop graphics cards. Most of the hard development work has been done to at least use the same tech for another generation.

Because nobody is trying as hard, visually, as PD.

Doesn't bother me as I don't even notice it.
There are more important things to focus on instead of side mirrors.
