Online dealerships ruin cars rareity

Elitism and insecurity.

I disagree that its proven to be a insecure person.
The feeling of having some exclusive is closely related with the sense of wanting a challenge or a win. Those kind of person who are successful are often the most secure people you ever could find. Its really easy to make a political comparison also but I wont do that move :p

I see where the OP is coming from. But in a game created for all, even kids. Its a bit much to demand rarity on items. Young people lack understanding to why a item should be rare. Its the same thing for them as having the refrigerator elevated to a level they cant reach. So I also see where they have a problem with it.

Basically just live with the car being a easy grabber. If you want some rarity you should have a day brake from GT and play a explorer-game ^^

Come on it's a big help.
Without online dealership it would take months before you can make e.g. a decent LMP collection.

Id be surprised if everyone didn't have most of the rare cars by now anyway. For me its more of an achievement beating other racers online who are using the same car. I wouldn't get upset if i forked out 19,000000cr for a GT40 racecar in the UCD and it turned up a day later in the OCD, i could just grind the seasonals for more money. If PD wanted to make it harder to obtain OCD cars they could just turn it into an extremley hard championship where you race to obtain the car you want.

The main point I'm trying to make is that it isn't fair.

Also, the phrase should be, "we who like rarity," in your sentence, "we" is the subject and therefore "who" is proper; "whom" is reserved for objects. Normally I wouldn't point this out, but the impression I get is that you used "whom" very pointedly in an attempt to put on airs.
...
A person accomplishes a "feat." "Feet" are what a person uses to walk.

I was never too great at grammar and such. Still not today. My bad for all those spelling and grammar mistakes.

Throughout a few posts on the first page, I smell a heavy need for attention...which leads to elitism.

Does it really matter that you got your car one way and everyone else got it another? Ether way, you have the car, they have the car. PD put it there for a reason: to be driven. Not for "oh look, I'm special". Not for looks. Not for the insane 0 miles/0 switches collectors. Just for it to be driven.

So going by what I read on the first page, everyone who thinks cars should be rare loves to brag about them online, have everyone stare at it, bla bla bla.

Basically an attention 🤬....which I hate.

"Oh look, I got a carbon X1! I'm so special!" :yuck:

And the whole "x amount of one car exists in the whole world" thing: Really? Then WTF would I have paid for when it comes to buying the game? Driving a bunch of VW Golf carts around rather than Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Shelby's, etc.? I can see it now: "Golf Turismo 8: Have fun finding a Ferrari, muhahahaha". Yeah...I think I'd hate GT then.

Sorry for the anger, but elitists and attention :censored:s piss me off. Just play the 🤬 game and stop caring about how other people obtained the keys to their CLK-GTR (and yes, I bought mine since a) I don't have a wheel, nor the money to buy one, and b) could care less about doing one event over and over just to get it.). 🤬 elitists.

I actually hate show-offs and I don't brag. I just prefer things to be different. ;)

I HATE OCD! I was looking for the Silvia 240RS because it is really hard to find in the UCD, and after months of looking I found it, bought it, used it in JDM lobbies, people thought it was awesome that I found it, then a day later it's in the OCD and everyone has it. That has happened many times.

The main point I'm trying to make is that it isn't fair.

And the point I'm making is that the "it" that you have conveniently left unspecified isn't "the cars being available," but rather, "EliteDreamer has lost his bragging rights." So far what your posts have conveyed is not an annoyance with the cars being available, but an annoyance with the cars being available after you already had them. You're not worried about some over-arching "realism" or even an objective "fairness," you're just pissed that you can't use an item in a video game to augment your perceived prestige anymore.

If you really insist on harping on the whole "not fair" bit, I'll tell you the same thing that I tell my 4-year-old niece. Life's not fair. The sooner you realize that the better you'll get along.

Switch it around. I don't care if my "prestige" is gone. For the most part, I just hate the fact of how easily others acquire said car. Your misinterpreting what I'm saying or I must've displayed my opinion incorrectly. I'm also aware that life isn't fair. I'm not some whiny brat you cries when he/she doesn't get they're way. I prefer realism at it's maximum in a game. Again, I do not brag, braggers annoy me and I don't wish to brag. Your not really understanding.

And what's wrong with how someone obtains something?

Is it wrong to obtain something in a different way? In fact, I'll answer that for you: No, it isn't. Who cares if someone bought the damn car, just be happy you earned it.

The other group of people I hate: Those that think there's only one specific way to get something, and if you get that something in another way, it's unfair, cheating, etc. Stop caring about how someone else got the car and just drive it for Christ's sake.

I care. Problem with that? You can't answer for me for you do not hold the same opinion. To me, it's wrong. You can not change what I think.

I'll be blunt about this: Why should anyone care that you don't like it that others are able to actually access the content in the game?

Agreed. No matter how hard you try, you can't drill this into their minds.

I just laugh. Thanks for the laugh OP. 👍

In line with a few peoples views I can't really understand peoples obsession with perceived "rarity".

Why should those who have put the time in to get enough money not be treated to these cars? So you can say I have one of 500 GT40s on the game? Most of the people whining about rarity are probably the ones whining like little biatches about not having xyz car to complete their ford collection.... it seems that the gaming world has taken itself far too seriously.

In the real world there is one XJ13, one Jay Leno tank car, one WRC winning Subaru from whenever. I bought the game so I could drive these rare motors not listen to somebody lecture me about how great the 2J is when I could probably get that done for free in real life.

Imagine the carbon X1 having roughly the same value to GT5 players as an Olympic medal has to professional athletes - the percentage of people who got it the way it was meant to be got is probably roughly the same when you consider the numbers of both groups. You can guess how happy the real medallists would be if everyone could pick up gold medals in a crocery store for free. So much for being one of the very few to achieve it through skill and hard work. It was meant to be the car to differentiate the really good drivers from the rest but not surprisingly people managed to screw that up too.

Now, for all of you who...

- call me an idiot because of such a comparison
- think the issue is ridiculous
- think I'm an elitist
- do something else like that

...just can't understand the feeling of getting something because you did better than most others, probably because you never were skilled enough to pull it off and decided to take the cheap route instead.

The "normal" rare cars though, who cares. Everyone could get them anyway with enough time and patience, there isn't such a thing as a valuable buyable car. Prize cars just should be treated differently in my opinion.

Getting an X2010 = Olympic Medal?

Oh dear ...

He's making a comparison. Seriously, you don't get it?

I like the OCD because there are no miles driven on any of the cars. I like to see my mileage on cars that I race in, not together with the miles already on them, as in the UCD.Another reason why I like the OCD is because they sometimes offer cars that you can only obtain through B-Spec, (correct me if I'm wrong). I play GT5 on A-Spec only, and the OCD gives me a great opportunity to buy cars that I would never unlock as B-Spec.

Must be fun caring more about a video game than you should.

Well, good thing a virtual car isn't a gold medal then. I could care less about how someone gets a certain car. "Skill" at pushing buttons or not, a virtual car is still a virtual car and nothing more. Thank God that atrocious "thing" you call a car is no different from the other 2 versions.

I could care less about pushing buttons or turning a wheel. Congratz to earning your atrocious X2010, do you want a medal? Money? A real car? Jeez...

Oh, and I never have finished the Vettel challenge because A) I despise that car to hell and B) I'm happy with the Vettel and White X2010's I have from trading.

Furthermore, I'm guessing you have a wheel? One more reason I could care less about how people obtain thier cars- I don't have the money for a wheel and not planning on buying one anytime soon.

I spent hours trying to win the Mercedes Benz CLK LM on Amg intermediate special event.

And after successfully accomplishing gold (with a DS3) on every challenge, I finally won that beast of a car.

However, few days later I find the CLK LM in the Online Dealership section for a meer 2'000'000 some credits that I could have gotten in 18 minutes by grinding down the ferrari la festival cavillino event on sarthe.

So to try wear out my dissapointment, I decided to take the CLK LM that I WON for a run in some random open lobby.

AND TO EVEN GREATER DISSAPOINTMENT, nearly everyone drove the same car!!! 👎

The game's been out for 10 months, is it fair to assume that perhaps you're simply late to the party?

The online dealership rotates. Actually, I'm not even sure it rotates. I have yet to see the same line-up of cars twice.

And anyways, it's not like you can just buy such "rare" cars at any time. Somebody who really aspires to see a rare car show up in the online dealership may never see it show up over many months or even years. There's no reliable pattern (yet) as to how online dealership works, it appears someone at PD is hand-picking which cars are to be sold each update.

So to try wear out my dissapointment, I decided to take the CLK LM that I WON for a run in some random open lobby.

I know, I hate it when I enter a race, only to find some other drivers driving the EXACT SAME cars as me (sarcasm).

*sigh* you should just quit. Just quit the game. That'll solve all your problems.

For me, it's not about bragging rights. It's about:

- being rewarded for your efforts
- keeping things fair
- having a surprise when seeing a rare car online that has been legitimately won / purchased
- having a sense of pride in using a car you wanted in your collection

I saved the money to buy the Sauber-Mercedes C9. When it eventually appeared in UCD, I bought it. A day later it was in the OCD for half the price.

PD have caused a lot of these issues and that is down to poor / broken design, such as:

- needing rare cars to compete in an event
- being able to earn money too easily by grinding particular events
- unbalanced financial rewards between events
- being able to dupe cars
- disparity between prices in the UCD and OCD

Post above. 👍

That's what I really mean.

true ! , sooner or later every special car is going to appear in the OCD... making them...
well , not special anymore.

maybe lessons should be learned for GT6 , because GT5 is lost already...

But the thing is no one cares anymore about what races or challenges you can do. They just care about have all the cars in the game and not taking pride in what they can accomplish on their own. So for the few include myself who what to feel pride in what we can do, just gave your selfs a clap on the back because that's all you will ever get.

Considering the UCD might as well be random for how easy it is to keep track of, I can't believe people are still acting as if fairness is a remotely valid reason for wanting the OCD gone.

- being able to earn money too easily by grinding particular events
Get out of here with that. If this was any other game in the series, there would be normal events that rewarded as much as the Seasonals do; and all of the used cars would cost half as much as they do to boot. The last thing GT5 needs is to make credits harder to come by than they already are.

The part I bolded is absurd. What would be accomplished by making money harder to earn? There is just no logical reason for it. All that would do is frustrate players even more.

Why would they care? The gold medal has no value. Winning the Olympic event did. If everyone had a gold medal, the olympian's achievement would become no less valuable.

- keeping things fair

What's unfair about the OCD?

If something comes up that I already had, I'll just buy another one. Now it's zero miles to boot.

Yes, this one of the main points.
The problem is that people in random lobbies and team lounges are not going to recognise and/or fully understand your achievement and know you have earnt it.

OP, let's end this.

MAKE A POLL

Erm.. Boo hoo?

Seriously

Then again, you also think we should be running 24hr races alone in one session... I worry about guys like you.
I'm sorry if this comes across as a personal attack, but for crying out loud this is just sad.

If you want recognition, win the race.
