Screw preserving the rarity of vehicles; just trying to find and be able to purchase all the cars in the game is hard enough as it is. I still have yet to meet someone who has collected all the 1000+ cars this game has to offer and its been nearly a year since its released.

You'd be supprised how many on this forum have long ago. Including all car color variations of the non-paintable cars (cup cars, academy, cudas, etc).

Rarity in a video game is crap. Games should be accessible to anybody who wants to pick it up and experience the full content of the game. Just because Joe over there can't dedicate X number of hours to GT5 every day doesn't mean he should be less entitled to the full game content than you. He still paid for it too.

Take the 2J - very hard to come by and very expensive. Of course then it's going to have some value attached to its rarity.

So then seeing your special rare car appear in the OCD a few days later for a fraction of the price can be a bit of a bummer.

="The new OCD is up:
Chaparral 2D Race Car '67 - 6,250,000
Chaparral 2J Race Car '70 - 7,500,000

haha

I'm not liking this new OCD at all because now everybody will have the Chaparals and the GT40 '69. I mean, some people here spent ages saving up, and cycling the UCD for these cars to show up, and now anybody can easily earn the cr to buy these once rare cars. :(
And, sadly, i wont be as eager to get my 2D out in fear of knowing that most of the people in the lobby will have it too. :(

You can win the gt40 in one of the indy races. It isn't rare to begin with :dunce:

And this equals good racing (same cars).. what's the problem.

Especially now since both chapparals are in the OCD...

Newsflash:

GT5 is "We Love Cars", not "We Love To Create An Elite Community That People Can Only Be A Part Of If They Play This Game Day After Day After Day While Neglecting Their Real Lives And Ending Up Losing Their Jobs, Divorcing, And Giving Their Children Serious Psychological Trauma For The Rest Of Their Lives".

Let people drive what they want. I promise you that in half a year, everyone won't be driving that special Merc race car that only you adore so much. If everyone is driving it now, then it's only because they just obtained it. Most of the people will move on to other cars.

Toyota Celica 1600GT (TA22) ’70 (11,950 Cr.)

Really pissed about this being dumped in the new OCD.. That car is my daily driver, and the best thing about it, is being the only one who drives it.

Boo hoo.

The Chaparrals were never rare. They are one of the main reasons that the birthday exploit is so popular. And the GT40 was also never rare because it was a prize car.

Jai
is being the only one who drives it.

What about just driving it? Besides, how many people are going to buy it or even use it anyway OCD or not?

I don't play online, so I don't really give a crap about the rarity of a car. I just want to eventually own all available cars in the game.

I'm only missing about 20 cars to achieve this goal. The Chaparels included. So you can bet your bottom dollar that I will have those 2 by the time monday comes around. I've been waiting forever to see them pop up in the UCD, checking it after every 3rd race I do.

Except for the DLC and the X1 proto I have at least one of every car in the game 0/0. I did it the hard way (trading/glitching/duping/rubber banding etc... LOL :D) i suppose i should be mad at the OCD?

Hell no!

Cheap and Easy is how I roll! Bring it!

The new OCD has definately ruined a few cars rarity now - everyones gonna have 2D's and 2J's now

Where did all that excess come from?

I have 5 GT40's, can't stop getting the damn things.
Got rid of 2 already, it seems every ticket I open gives me another useless copy that can't be sold of it.

Somebody: "Oh mommy mommy, Kaz is ruining my virtual exclusive cars collection."

Mom: "Bad Kaz, bad... no icecream 4 u."

Where did all that excess come from?

From someone apparently EXTREMELY happy that so many cars are now available for half price. Either that or someone EXTEMELY annoyed that others are of a different opinion.

To state my own irrelevant opinion on the OCD: Zero miles, whatever. Half price, why oh why would you do that? Just plain stupid. I used to look forward to a car I'd been waiting for showing up in there. Now I just avoid the OCD entirely. It's not as if money, or any of the cars, are hard to come by. I feel like I'm somehow cheating buying a car for less than its actual price that way, whether PD put it in or not. PD also lets you use the FGT in Sunday Cup if I'm not mistaken. Somehow that bothers me less...

I do agree with that. If there's going to be an OCD, it should still be expensive. To add to it: make the seasonals give out less pay. I'm sharing my opinion, do not flame me.

IMO, it doesn't. This rarity status of a car sounds like some BS someone came up with. I do like the prize car given when achieving golds and stuff like that, but this "rarity" should be set beforehand by PolyDig and not some random dude grindidng for money at Indy Superspeedway and buying everything he finds.

It should be noted that a response to your post that disagrees with you is not a flame.

It should also be noted that lowering prize money or raising prices helps no one. If you want to struggle to find cars and pay ridiculous prices it is easy, avoid the OCD and avoid seasonals. Go find a low paying A-Spec event.

I love the way some of the posters in this thread want to be elite at a video game, and feel cheated when the developer tries to make the game accessible. I do not have a huge amount of time to devote to GT, but I still want to be able to drive cars that interest me. Having the OCD enables me to not have to worry about spending a huge amount of time looking for those cars. The seasonals make it so that I do not have to piss away a weekend so I can afford an LMP.

Nothing in this game should be locked away, or take a ridiculous amount of time to find. I am not a digital car collector. Heck, if it wasn't for the OCD I would have dropped GT a long time ago.

Finally, if you derive some sense of worth from having the most exclusive collection of 1's and 0's, you need to find some other way to validate who you are. If you are so fragile that you feel personally threatened in such a situation, I would really suggest some counselling, as it would be indicative of some issues you might need some assistance with.

Unless your a kid, then just go outside, meet some real people, do some real stuff, and remember that this is just a game. No need to cry.

Yeah this thread blows...offering rare cars to the UCD in the OCD, doesn't discredit the car being rare...just because you might be slower than others...no reason to hate. PD does a great job, I truly enjoy GT5 and will continue to enjoy until GT6!! At the end of the day, inevitably you'd obtain all the cars you want in your garage.

A game with rare cars.....

Jealousy over a game, who cares how others get cars. You have your game and play it how you want. Wind your neck in and leave people to play thier game how they see fit.

To answer the OP, simply put NO! These are standard cars and the OCD is the only way to get any car brand new, just like the premiums can be bought brand new in the store, I wonder if you think being able to purchase any premium a bad thing too?

PD did the absolute correct thing by including the OCD and seasonals with cash boost, otherwise GT5 would be a very hard grind. These additions make it much more bearable, I enjoy finding something to buy in the OCD every few weeks and the seasonals help pay for that spending spree. I purposely go and look for cars to buy and tune to varying degrees, sometimes multiple of the same auto(blame PD for permanent upgrades). I run 5 races in a row just to get 30 new cars to sift through, just over 510 autos in the garage and about 300 are tuned. Seasonals make me smile especially the spam worthy ones, they fuel my thirst for cars and tunes then online to play.

I have yet to get online and hear someone say they have a rare car, lol. No one cares about that, this game is about driving and having a car that no one has doesn't really mean much as driving a car that no one really drives. I always find it unique to see someone racing in a car you rarely see anyone attempt to race in. Shuffle races are fun in that respect, but some people go out of their way and run interesting autos. Rare elitist stuff has no place in GT.

I know, I'm just saying that because I don't like it when people get a little overreacted to my comments.

Meh I don't care. I'm not bothered if a few thousand other people have it as well, if I want that car it won't stop me buying it at all.

That benefits no one, and ironically the prices in the OCD are far closer to real life than the any of the ones in the UCD are.

Well then at least make it harder to earn money. :/
