Holy awesome mountains of flaming awesomeness!!!

I don't know if this was a freak or not but some poop for brains in a GT-R just tried to brakecheck me going into Casio and I didn't get a penalty

The move could only be adequately described using an as yet uninvented word which is an order of magnitude greater than "blatant". He just jammed on the anchors and I rammed into the back of him, sending the tosser straight into the tyre wall where he belonged but I didn't get a penalty.

Could it be they've tweaked the ramming penalties to account for this?

Some guy did the opposite to me. Tried to make up 100 metres on me going into casio, luckily he ghosted and met the wall. Given up for tonight though. Whilst it's nice to have busier races atm, it's a shame that half the people are tossers who are only used to playing NFS. Suzuka is too much effort if I'm just gonna get rammed or have people weave and wreck all the work I've put in.

Kind of sad after this update. World events are about the only way I can find full grids in NA when I'm free to play. 650PP + S2 also seems like a very odd combo, most of the lower powered cars I was really hoping to drive can't be tuned this high, 600PP +S2 or 650 PP + open tires would have been nice. Gonna be a slow few weeks till that next update I fear. :(

I agree CerealKiller - I was hoping to take the RX-7 or Lancia Delta for a spin. Even the Amuse / Opera Nissan 350Z doesn't make 650PP with S2s (about 628PP). As you said 600PP & S2s or 650PP & any tyres would have been better.

Still liking the No Mercy event though 👍

Looks like another crap update! The No Mercy race should have been 600PP. Then there would have been alot more cars to use. Plus know WORLD EXPERT RACE, that sucks! And why Daytona oval with N3 tires, what in the heck is that for?

Daytona on N3 tires, that is to seperate the Men from the BOYS.:sly:

I have mixed feelsing about the 650PP No Mercy! event. Only done a few races, and they were close with GTP_TwistyBits. We were fighting the whole time and weren't bothered by anyone else who couldn't "naturally" keep up. I liked that. However, if I get in a group of just ordinary drivers, I feel I'm all gonna be a little bored just racing around by myself up front. And the races last 11+ minuets, making back-to-back races fall into the XX:00 - XX:15 - XX:30 format nicely.

No mercy works for me. There seems to be more tension, cos you know if you screw up there's no coming back.

I still like the RBE events though cos there's a lot more frenetic toe to toe action.

I think both types have their place and I'm sure I'll play both when the private rooms and race options come along.

They just added a Daytona speedway pro event, with American cars didn't they?

They sure did, and threw in N3's to kill the race... :grumpy: Sometimes I wonder if they are actually choosing the events based on customer participation, or if they have a 'gibbon collective' out back choosing race modes at random... 💡

The Daytona event is brilliant, there are so many punters it's funny to watch them attempt to punt and fail miserably. I recommend you give it a go

Yes my thoughts exactly. I did several races and was laughing so hard could hardly stand it, to watch them lunge at cars only to go spinning into spirals good stuff.👍

No Mercy Match! PP650 Suzuka Circuit / PRO Up to 16 Players (S2 tires and NO RBE).

Oh god yes :)

Man I hope this event sticks around for a while, I really want to sink my teeth into this one but I am working non stop. Its my day off now but I have been up for 20hrs already, I drive really crap when tired :(

still...
Love this update :)

Unfortunately though wall-rding still wins the race. As I watched some guy repeatedly slam into the wall, and whilst I assume he got the penalty, it doesn't kill the extra speed quick enough to make it a slower method, and its faster than braking for the corners.

There should be no RBE on all races really. The loss of grip is very obvious on the oval when you are leading.

Anyone notice that the Ferrari expert event at Fuji is now just a race for the California? i tried in the 512bbi,F430,and the F40 but everyone is using the California and winning with it, so it should be renamed the California event :grumpy:

It was the quickest car around suzuka in the last ferrari event as well.

I was in a race with you last night.... did something happen to you though because you were parked out at Spoon pretty much the whole race.... just caught my eye that you were there everytime I passed spoon...

Yup, as for that race last night, after being rammed and shoved off the track in the most ridiculous places, and having a guy weaving down the straight upto 130R, I gave up. I posted somewhere else that suzuka is a lot of effort when you are getting pushed off the road constantly, and all that hard work gets ruined by some dumbass.

Whilst I'm sure the new events attracted a lot of people back online, as it was pretty busy; last night was the worst I have seen it for a while in terms of people just either not allowing for the person in front to brake, or being completely oblivious to any other car on the track. The ammount of intentional ramming was high from what I saw. Wasn't impressed.

That is true. The thing is when you get punted now... its pretty much over in terms of getting to the front again.... but once you get past all that chaos its pretty good racing actually... that particular race I got 3rd and I was having a heated battle with the number 1 and 2.... then again right after that I had a race were a stupid punter decided to push me off the road in the esses because he was too impatient, game over for me.... I hate that as well... people that are too impatient and just bump you off the road ruining your WHOLE race!

This is what annoys me the most. I can accept that in certain areas of the track where overtaking is possible that sometimes things don't work as intended. But through sections like the esses I don't know how people think they are going to get past cleanly, unless you drive it off the road yourself. Same applies to stcking onto the bumper of the person in front. Through certain corners there's almost no point as the subsequesnt corners don't allow for overtaking anyway; and all that can come of sticking as close as possible to someone is a pointless accident.

It gets to the point where I wil usually let some people through when they look like an accident waiting to happen behind me, because I know that three corners later I'm going to pass them in the kitty litter anyway, and I'd rather not be part of their accident.

Nah.. I used to win regularly in the F430 at Suzuka but Fuji suits the extra torque and 7 speed box of the California. Still annoying that a GT Spyder is faster than a mid engined car designed with track racing in mind but there you go... :)

Then jump in a Cali and join the fun. Really enjoy this event so far seems its not the early choice of the punters.

And besides in most if not all events I've seen 1 or 2 makes of cars always dominate that's just the way it is. AT least there will be no GTLM crashers here.

My usual in-race driving on S2 gives me 2:11 with California and 2:12 with F430 on Suzuka (minor gearbox tuning for both cars) so I agree that Cali is faster.

The wall-riding thing is getting ridiculous now. It's been present since GT1. I can't see why car speed cannot be toned down so it becomes a disadvantage to ride a wall. At present, there is hardly any friction slowing the car. Surely it would be possible to make a few adjustments to the collision physics to have the car slow down a lot more when scraping the wall...? If touching a wall became a disadvantage in itself, collision penalties as a result could be done away with or at least there wouldn't be scenarios where a standard time penalty isn't enough. There are still situations that exist where the penalty one receives from wallriding isn't enough to make it slower than actually driving the section on the track... and damage shouldn't be the solution - improved collision physics should be!

Thats a good point but i like to race in an inferior car, i may not come first but at least i beat a few of them :)

The wallriding killed the event, last night I had a race, I started first, and ended up almost last with other people wallriding. If anything the penalty helps them wallride, I even gave it a try myself on the last lap to see how much faster you can go. The penalty helps stabilize the car more and that means, more exit speed. I don't see why there is no friction between the car and wall, really the car should pretty much bounce off. I hope PD fixes, and introduces a new penalty method soon.
