Similarly, I can't stand when people say, "I got yelled at", when what they really mean to say is: "I messed up, and I hate when people tell me to do something properly."

I don't see where this is going, but an opinion is not intended to be insult in most cases, unless you attach Member X's name to the opinion, and if you substituted Member W's name in place of X, and it was still offensive, then you have crossed the line from opinion to insult.

In short, take your trash to the curb, not here.

I hate people who think they can hide behind the veil of 'expressing an opinion' when insulting another member.

Overall: Keep your insults in your head; the forum is no place for them.

That basically sums it up... without the psuedo lesson in rhetoric.

Now Doug, do you really hate them?

it looks like this thread was supposed to be about how name calling is wrong, but it looks to have turned out to be a name calling haven!

 Perhaps it isn't hate. But definitely strong dislike. :D

Well, we seem to do a great line in irony here.....butthead.

Seriously though - it must be borne in mind that other people have differing opinions, and that the joy of free speech is that they have the right to voice them, as much as it might make your blood boil.

Remember: 'If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all' - Noam Chomsky
'I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it' - Voltaire

Opinions are fine, but not insults behind the veil of opinions. At least tell someone you're insulting them if you're actually doing just that.
