No worries, we only had four people so even if you had made it we wouldn't have had enough for a points race. You missed a fun boost/no damage race though. :dunce:

It won't really affect the points, everyone will just have 4 races to their credit instead of 5 and will still be able to drop their worst result. Hopefully we have a better crowd tomorrow.

I should probably be around this evening for a practice session, sometime after 7:00pm EDT.
 
I'm in the lounge for some practice, if anyone would care to join feel free.
 
I'll be there about 7:30ish... but for only 45 minutes or so.

Apologies - The pixies had gone on strike and hadn't updated the tables.
They've had a pay rise now and are back on duty.

I think most of our drivers are on strike too, maybe I need to look into paying them more. :dopey:

Contract renegotiations seem to in every series now. They all want more vacation days :grumpy:

Sorry for that bump Brandon and Dsg, in the practice run last night. I know I'm slow, but I do my best to be as CLEAN as possible. My brakes once again stood stuck somehow. Seems like it happens mostly when at high speeds. Happened both practice races.

I think this car likes partial brake input. Even during hard braking, especially on the darker pavement.

I've noticed that too, in all cars but especially the Silvia. A lot of times 40-50% brake input will stop me quicker that 80-90% input. At Nurb GP/F last night I noticed the drop off in handling due to tire wear came on a lot quicker, after just 5 or 6 laps I was starting to notice a change in handling characteristics and it got a little worse each lap.

Don't worry too much, we ain't hatin'. 👍 Here's one bit of advice that took me nearly a year to learn but has been of huge benefit: When you are driving behind somebody and you're in their draft there is no air pushing on the front of your car which is a major factor in braking (and steering). No air means you're relying completely on your brakes to slow you and your stopping distance will be considerably larger. So not only do you have more speed due to the draft but you also have less stopping power (and less steering). So when you're in someone's draft be prepared to hit the brakes even earlier than you think you should.

If you already knew all of that then forget I said anything. But if you didn't.....I'm sure you've had moments during races where the car just didn't behave like it should and it left you puzzled. This "aero push" will explain a lot of those moments. When you're behind a car you'll notice your car doesn't want to stop and doesn't want to turn, because you've lost a lot of your front downforce. This was something I never even though about being in the game, but it's for sure in the game and I think it has a hand in a good portion of racing incidents in GT5.

The only real solution is to brake way early and be cautious. This seems like it would be a bad idea, but in reality braking that early usually allows you to make a really good entry to the turn which means you'll likely get a really good exit and possibly gain ground on the person you're chasing. 👍
 
The Champ lounge is now open for pre-race practice. Qualifying will start at 8pm EDT, try not to use the draft to help you get pole.

I just got home from work and too annoyed to race at the moment.
I'm gonna take a quick beer or two and see if that improves things.

That stinks SagarisGTB. Sorry to hear about your wheel. Hopefully I'll get to see you in another series soon enough!

I think mine my be developing an issue. If I make really sudden counter-corrections (like saving a tank-slapper) it knocks the wheel off-center, so to go straight my wheel is actually at 11:00, or 10:00. After that drifting session it was almost at 9:00 to go straight. If I unplug the USB and plug it back in the wheel re-centers itself but that's kinda hard to do mid-race.
 
A brief touch of the sand on lap one and my race was finished. After losing 3 seconds :boggled: per lap for a dozen laps I couldn't stand any more punishment and spent the rest of the evening drinking beers with the pit crew
