Just to be clear, we use the OLR for track boundaries and it's keep 2 tires between the white lines on the the rumble strips.

Yes, of course. These laps I ran were more for a study on the update that I have not since completed than to compare with others. They were conservative laps with no intent for competition, but instead the ability to be easily duplicated. It is unlikely that I will be able to attend either race this week, regardless.

I will be there tonight. From what you guys are saying, as long as I have 2 tires on the track, I'm not doing anything wrong?

Yes, track being between (or right on top of) the white lines outlining the track and the red and white rumble strips.

I've got zero practice for tonight so I'm glad this is a bit a draft track.

Side note: Are we still keeping points on fridays races? The OP looks blank on my computer.

That sounds good to me. I have raced some series at Monza in which whoever cut the corners the most won :yuck: I'm glad Brandon is enforcing the OLR's.

Oops.....completely forgot to update that! :dunce: Fixed.

I don't enforce them as much as some groups, but I strongly encourage everyone to abide by them. It gets hairy at Monza and I'd rather have the occasional tire on the wrong side of the track than an accident caused by somebody worrying about whether they'll be penalized. 👍

That's fine. I just don't want it to turn into the "ORCA curb cutting championship"

We've gone 'round and 'round about the chicanes at Monza and talked about various rules and procedures but whenever it's come to race time everyone has done a fantastic job of keeping it relatively clean/legal so I don't feel like I need to be out there with a tape measure to see how close people get. It's always seemed to me that the majority of people here want more than anything to earn the respect of the other members and that seems to be enough to discourage them from doing anything unfair on the track. 👍

So in short, like I said earlier, if you think it might be illegal it probably is so don't do it. Try your best to keep it on track and if you over reach a little just don't use it to your advantage (i.e. make a pass).

The Champ lounge is open for pre race practice. Qualifying will start at 8pm EDT, the draft will be on but please try not to use it to your advantage. Same with the chicanes, do your best to keep two tires on the tarmac or rumble strips, and if you get one wrong don't improve your position.

I don't see me racing in this season. Have fun, guys.

Boo... Family stopped by unannounced which ruined my chance to actually race tonight. FML!

Gonna miss Friday as well because of work... Maybe someday I'll be able to race more than once or twice a series. :grumpy:

Fun racing tonight. On my replay I actually won for once, by about one spoiler width.
Damn you, PD!!!!111

Good racing tonight, I'm always amazed and impressed at how well we get through the first chicane.

I was just about to post that  I really can't take that win because I didn't. I hope Brandon's OK with changing the winner as both drivers feel DSG was the real winner.
Great race over all. Nice win DSG.

Very good, if you're both in agreement then I have no problem correcting the results. I've seen this happen before, my only guess is DSG mounted his transponder further back then Carr. :dopey: I haven't watched the replay but I trust both of you and you both have the same version of events. 👍 to Carr for being the ultra-gentleman.

Congrats Carr who won.....wait a minute  Great job dsg for winning. Great sportsmanship by Carr. Thanks Brandon for racing so clean there at the end.

Thanks Carr! 👍
I'm fine with whatever Brandon's master replay shows. If you won on that one, it's the one that counts. More work for Brandon, lol.

What I found interesting is how the tire wear worked last night.
The meter said I had plenty of grip but my rear tires on the last few laps felt like ice. My stopping distance was also a good deal longer.

Thanks Carr! 👍

Well, On my replay you won by a spoiler. I spent ages trying to pause at the right millisecond. I can post a picture and save Brandon some work.

I experienced the same thing with the tires. I had 80-90% left on front and rear but the last 3 or 4 laps became very slippery and I had to brake earlier and be a lot gentler getting back on the throttle. I was on the verge of catastrophic oversteer coming out of every chicane. No doubt they change the tire wear rate with the last update, whether or not it was for the better I'm undecided. It doesn't look like we'll be making many (if any) pitstops this season.

If you want to post a pic of the finish that would be cool, I won't be able to watch the replay for 8 or 9 hours.

It's tough to hit the pause button at the right moment, and besides, since you're the host I'd guess that only pics off your replay should matter in these kinds of situations.

True, and I still plan on watching the replay when I get home to confirm the events. But if he wants to post a pic so I can see what you guys saw it doesn't hurt, the more info the better. But you both seem to be in agreement about it so unless I see something totally different than you two saw then I will go with your guys' interpretation.

I had this happen to me too. Especially the last 3-5 laps. I simply ran out of rear grip.

Glad it wasn't just me. it was 3 laps to go when I noticed.
Picture coming a little later.

That's probably about when it happened to me too, I didn't look at the lap count but I know it was near the end of the race, last 3 or 4 laps at the most. The main point was that my tire indicators still showed nearly full tires both front and rear. I remember DSG actually asked during practice if tire wear was on because after several laps his tires were showing no wear.......I hope this isn't a new issue that came along with the last update. :nervous: It could just be that Monza is gentle on tires because you're mostly going in a straight line, but it is a bit weird how that several of us experienced the exact same thing at nearly the exact same time.

It's harder on rear tires because of all the time spent full throttle, and the car being RWD. My rears were more worn than the fronts. The wear was different at GVE-R. My right front was the most worn at the end of the race there.

The reason I asked: when I ran a few practice laps on Monday eve, by lap 3 I saw a noticeable wear. Yesterday, prior to the quali on lap 3+outlap I had barely any wear. I ran ~12 laps on Monday and by the end of my practice I had less tire left than the indicator suggested was remaining after 25-lap race. So the indicator seems off.
And w/o BB @3/6-7, I'm wearing fronts more.

Right. My rears showed slightly more wear than the fronts but neither seemed to be much more than 5-10% from new. But it was like flipping a switch, all of a sudden the rears felt like they had less than 50% left and the car was not driving like it had 90% rear tires. I'm not really suggesting anything is wrong with the game or the tire wear, just more commenting on how the situation differs from what we've experienced in the past.

So there was a difference in indicated wear from Monday to Tuesday?

I wasn't there to comment on the race conditions, but I recall in the past in a light lo-po car such as the Elise; that the tires would never reach proper operating temperature with the long straightaways at Monza. This made the corner exits wear the rears excessively as they never developed the proper grip, and instead suffered wheelspin on the cold rears. Of course, I have not run there since the current update, and I have no insight as to why the car's behavious was not correlating properly with the wear indicators. The fact that it happened to multiple drivers all at approximately the same time, with undoubtably different wear levels, suggests perhaps a software/connection issue. It all sounds reminiscent of the front end grip loss that used to be rather prolific.

:grumpy:Sorry, no picture, the PS3 won't let me upload.
