It was great to have you and Norml and Ace join us last night and I'm glad you enjoyed racing with us. I think all the other guys that were there are ORCA Vets and have been racing together for quite a while now, we pride ourselves on being very clean and respectful, and it just so happens that a few of us are quite fast too. Thanks to running with guys like Carr, DSG, Owen and JohnnyP I'm starting to count myself among the fast guys. I used to wallow towards the back of the field but running door-to-door with top notch drivers like these taught me not only how to be fast but also how to be clean and respectful. This is the standard of racing we've come to enjoy and pride ourselves on so if you enjoyed last night there's plenty more on tap. 👍

The contact between Car and me was very small. I also dont think he should have let me by. I was already a lap down due to some mistakes I had made earlier. He did the right thing by letting me pass even though it was clearly and accident. But I think since he was so far ahead and I was so far back and it was so far into the race an exception to the rule shouldve been made. I dont think one of the leaders should hit off guys in the back intentionally, and I dont think the drivers here would. Id like to see the rule be waved in a case like what happened yesterday though, its was a small accident and it hurt his race a lot more than mine.

I completely agree Torzilla. In my opinion every racing incident has its own circumstances and these are exactly the types of things that need to be taken into consideration when evaluating an incident. In my opinion, a driver that's a lap down is out of contention and if a lead lap car (especially the race leader) contacts them they likely won't be penalized unless they're obviously trying to shove the lapped car out of the way. That's just rude and won't be tolerated. A lapped car should make every effort to get out of the lead car's way, if they don't and end up getting bumped it's likely to be their own fault as they should have already gotten out of the way (if possible).

That being said, the fact that Carr still slowed up for you says a LOT about his character and I do applaud him for setting such a good example. It likely wasn't necessary but it is appreciated and doesn't go unnoticed. So 👍 to Carr for his extreme act of gentlmanship.

(Torzilla, not at all trying to accuse you of being in the way or anything like that, I was just setting up an example to explain a line of thinking.)

I agree with that and I practice the exact same principles when I'm on track. From a directors point of view I have to look at how the incident effected somebody's race. If Torzilla is a lap down in last or second to last place then an accidental push off the track isn't going to have any real impact on his outcome. I would also take into account the reputation of the drivers involved, I know that Carr is incredibly clean and respectful and that Torzilla is regularly in the back takes pride in holding down the back of the grid and enjoys smashing up cars in his spare time. So, in this case, no harm no foul.

But from a drivers point of view I 100% agree with your outlook and I hope that everyone else does too. I know that the majority of the drivers here do feel the same way as I've been two-wide through tight turns with all of them several times. If light contact happens I know they were doing their best to avoid it and just consider a it a racing incident. Lord knows I've been on both ends of those incidents enough times to have an idea what's going on. 👍

Hopped in the car for the first time in a really long time last night for some practice. Still adjusting to the new brake pedal and not quite where I would like to be at yet. Planning on jumping into the Champ lounge tonight around 8 or 8:30 edt if anyone else wants to run. I hit a couple mid 9s, but know there is still some room to go.

That is the same rule I use. I generally think lap cars should try to get out of the way as fast as they can for lead cars, but I didn't give torzilla a chance to get out of the way. It was a dive-bomb pass to begin with, and though I could have passed him cleanly, I made the stupid mistake of thinking I had cleared him too soon and put him in the wall on the exit of turn one.

Speaking from personal experience, I always hated it if I was a lap down or just a slower car and some leader would come up and smash me off even though I gave him plenty of room and I was way off the racing line. Even though torzilla wasn't racing for top position, he could have been trying to catch the guy in front of him, and thanks to my move, I would have severely hurt his chances.

So, in short, if I know it was my mistake that caused the wreck, and it was more than just a small bump or tap, I'm pulling over. It just seems unfair otherwise.

I didnt think you really dive bombed on me, I was staying on the outside coming out of the corner and couldnt figure how I came up on you so fast. I didnt know if you made a mistake or what, so I figured Id stick to the outside coming out of the corner, pass you and you would pass me on the following straight. But when you came out of the corner we had contact, and it really didnt mess me up too much. I always try to get out of the way for cars that are a lapping me, but I like to do it on a place where I dont lose too much speed. I cant believe there is so much commotion when I didnt even have my usual pre race Four Loko
 
:Lol: I don't think there's really any commotion, we're just taking the chance to discuss a scenario that hasn't really come up before. I don't think anybody is trying to defend themselves or accuse anyone, just friendly banter. 👍

If we have room. We had 11 on Tuesday which is a really good turnout for the first night, I expect attendance to go up but I don't want more than 14 on a grid due to lag. Even with 11 my game seemed just a touch studdery for the first few laps when we were all bunched up. Once we spread out it seemed to be back to normal.

I really wish to race tomorrow but If you need room, I can just watch. I can't improve my score so it won't hurt me.

Each night has its own points this season, so you can improve you Friday score because right now it's zero. :)

I know what this field is like...top half is filled with the usual aliens :sly:. Brandon told me you guys were in the low 8s, so I figure high 8s would be a good goal for me. I did a little practice last night and was really close to hitting an 8 a couple of times, should get there by tonight. First time back in all out competitive racing and with new wheel/pedals...my only goal is to stay on track and get back to at least where I was in the last ORCA series. Looking forward to tonight.
 
I think all you need is a constant low 9 and you should be near the front (massive draft).

Yea I was running 1.09.2s and I held onto the lead draft for about 7 laps. If you can consistently break 1.09 you should be able to keep up.
 
Can you take me off the list for friday night races? I might be able to make them but probably not so if anyone needs a spot to jump in on friday they can have mine.

I will not be able to make it tonight guys :( I will probably need to be taken off of the Friday entry list as well. I have the ALMS series that just so happens to be at the same time. I will still be there on Tuesdays 👍
 
The ORCA_champ lounge is open for pre-race practice. Qualifying will begin at 10pm EDT sharp!

Some pretty fun racing with just 6 of us. Lancer and I had plenty of exciting moments with a couple added in with Fox just for fun. Thought for sure Lancer and I were going to race it out for 3rd until our pit stops were quite a bit slower than Fox. Had a really great time coming back home to ORCA, looking forward to next week.

Not sure why, nobody else had a single issue as far as I know. Sorry man.

As for me, I had my best race and my best finish ever. Qualified second with a 1:08.873, hung right on Carr's tail for the first 15 laps as we worked a gap on the rest of the field. His car slowed me down just a couple seconds in the pits (under auto pilot) and it was enough for me to lose his draft. I stayed within 5 or 6 seconds for quite a while and if he had made a mistake I would have been right back on him. With about 5 laps to go I realized I wouldn't catch him so I eased off a bit to ensure I brought home second place. It was a bit of a small field but the competition was good and I'm quite proud. The rest of the field was locked in a battle the entire race, I think a great night was had by all. 👍

Great racing again.

I'm tired right now so I'll be short.

Qualifying: Didn't get a solid lap but still a good lap.

First few laps, I was really thinking (hoping) Brandon and Lancer were going to fight amongst themselves and I could slip off into the night. Because I wasn't feeling fast for the first 4 or so laps.

Brandon got me before I could exit and for the life of me I couldn't shake him. I ended up pushing to hard on exit and had a taste of snap oversteer. It tasted like wall.

I held up Brandon in the pits and made a break for it. Just tried my my best not to look back. I hit the grass entering the down hill part of the track and almost swapped ends under braking. I was sliding with my nose facing the wall waiting for it to crash but I had just enough grip to save it.

After that I treated the race as a time trial trying to give myself a buffer from 2nd. I ran out of 8s on the last few laps and my final lap of the race was a 9.0 (The race was shortened to 32 laps).

Great race guys, ready for next week.
