They killed it off before then, the only game Rome night was in was GT2, it was gone in GT3 and the two Paris tracks didn't arrive until GT4. I guess it was just seen as surplus to requirments.

I'm hoping for more of the old smaller tracks from GT4 like Motorland/Begineer course and another from GT2, Motor Sports Land, which is really fun with smaller and slower cars. Perfect for Karts :)
Excellent for drifting as well, small tight and winding style. They actually do remind a lot of Japanese style drift courses

Quite simple tracks, if the supposed track editor can create these types of tracks, I would be chuffed!

Motor Sports Land or whatever was in Tourist Trophy, so it might have a chance at coming back for GT5.

Motorland was, Motor Sports Land (which you can see above) was only in GT2 Arcade mode (unfortunately).

Is that the case with PD's Seattle track, too?

Seattle is real: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=116707&highlight=seattle+real+location

Although similar, Motorland (which is in GT4) is a bit different with Motorsports Land (which is in GT2). I'd like to see them both back, they make a great test track for stock cars.

My take on this though, is that KY isn’t just focused on realism. He creates GT so everyone can feel the joy of driving cars fast virtually anywhere. For this reason alone, I cannot see PD scrapping all of their original tracks that they have painstakingly created (and improved throughout the years) to provide us with that experience. Some of you may disagree, but these fantasy tracks arguably provide a better driving/racing feel than most real world tracks, and the Drive of Your Life is what matters most in GT. If PD dropped all fantasy tracks, GT will become ‘only’ a Racing Simulator and not a Driving Simulator.

For me, I’d like to see a balance of real world tracks and fantasy tracks. If possible, bring back every old fictional tracks (no need to add new ones), and add in every single real world circuit (old and new). Data storage isn’t a problem now with BR and HDD, so bring it on!

I always liked the fictional courses in GT more (with a few exeptions like Seattle, Monaco...), especially in reverse direction.

So yeah, I hope they all come back, right away or as DLC.

There is only one fictional track I'm bothered about, and that's Trial Mountain. Given that it has been a staple in all previous full releases, including GTPSP, I'm confident that we'll be seeing a hi-res version in GT5.

Remember what PD said: 20 Locations with 70 variations, maybe this means something? Perhaps SS11 + SS5 + CR5 + reverse = 1 location w/ 6 variations?
Maybe they've done something like that?

P.S. Bring back Red Rock Valley!

I Agree

Maybe Toyota can bring in Kaz's team to redesign Fuji Speedway, because the 2005 version is awful!!! :yuck:
I still associate the 90s version as the Fuji track. I can barely drive on the 2005 version, it just doesn't feel right and I can't even see half the approaching turns in the last half....

That's not going to happen i'm afraid, but i agree the earlier versions were better in my view, the whole flow has gone and it has some really awkward corners.
I think PD also agrees with this, why else would they include the 80's/ 90's versions? ;)

Reminds me of Ebisu, if you ask me. I like the sound of the hissing turbos each time the driver changed gears.

It's the turbo blow off sound. There was also a turbo whistle with the large turbo upgrades.

Sadly all gone by GT4, will all these and more, make a comeback in GT5????
And make it dynamic, according to boost and engine load.

I did like the sounds in that game. But, they weren't realistic. They were great then because no other game had that feature.

And, I had no idea that the Rome, Seattle, Grindelwald, and Pikes Peak circuits were all on actual streets in the actual city (roads for Pikes Peak)! I thought the tracks in the game were just inspired by the locations. I have an even huger appreciation for GT now, especially with what PD were doing in the 1990s!

GT2 has all of the cool tracks like Grindlewald, Red Rock Valley and Pikes Peak.

Smokey Mountain too. Though I forget what that track is like.

Not really, plenty of Japanese games around the vintage of the original GT had em, one even had selectable blow off valve sounds :)

Before GT came along I used to buy a lot of these Japanese Drift/Race/Driving RPG'ish car games with story modes and what not. I actually picked up GT then as an obscure import game well before it became the hit it was. It blew me away :dopey:

And the rest is history

The sound was in GT4, you just couldnt hear it from the outside.

^ Same here! Before GT, I used to play these games:

:)

-> I hope that PD would not just carry-over all the tracks in GT4, but also bringing back many memorable original race tracks from past GT iterations. This is a quote of a reply that I did on the other thread:

^ And in addition to those, there is one almost unknown track from GT Concept:

The Toyota pod Race Track

^ Since Infenion/Sears Point, Fuji, Motegi, Suzuka, & Grand Valley have multi variations of one track might as well do with PD-land race tracks too. :)

that track is the pit lane of ssr5

Hope they don't overpopulate the new GT5 with real world F1 style tracks. Boring! Just bring back all the old ones from all of GTs history.

Have to admit i'll be pretty gutted if Trial Mountain's not in the final game, that final straight down the hill towards the final left/right onto the start/finish straight is hugely fun:D

^ I definitely agree...

Original HSR, original SSR11, Rome-Night, Red Rock Valley, Mid-Field Raceway and Trial Mountain. I'd be set if one of those appeared, even though the last two are the only ones with any real chance.

PD should really take a look back at Gran Turismo 2. To me that was their high point in terms of track design, not to mention it's my favorite game in the series. It will be amazing to see how those tracks have evolved over the years.

I think that they should stick with their original fantasy tracks and not add any new ones. The only new tracks we need in the series are more real tracks.

I wonder if the new Rome street circuit in GT5 will be a reincarnation of the track from GT2? It appeared in GT3, didn't it?

Who said there's no original tracks from GT1? Every game has got its fictional tracks (atm I can remember only for Forza series), and just TRY to imagine GT5 without its history tracks. Scary, isn't it?

To me, the Gran Turismo series has always been about putting everyday cars against each other on interesting tracks. A couple of the more interesting F1 tracks would be ok, but i'm a bit wary when i heard PD were including real life drivers in some of the competitions. That would spoil the spirit of the game. I want to race against the cars, not the drivers. A collaboration with Top Gear would be good though! It's be great to race against Jezza, Hammond, and May on the TG track!
