I just had my wisdom teeth out this morning. It hurts like hell. Mom says: "Now you know what girls have to go through every month..." it hurts. I'm reduced to eating apple sauce all day...

Righttttttt......

Anyways, I haven't had mine out yet, but I will soon! My dentist had said the last two times I have been, "Will will have to schedule that operation opp. soon." I am ssssoooooo not waiting for that day! :(

That sucks man... I had two cavities filled on the same day and my mouth was numb for hours. Feel better though. I broke my collarbone a few years ago, it sucked.

I had mine out when I was 17, all four at once. It was a nightmare. And at the time I was on this anti-drug kick so I didn't use any pain killers. My own fault.

But the night before I was to get the stitches removed I dreamed of blood. I woke up with my face stuck to the pillow, blood everywhere. It was so gross. So I went and got my mom. It was the middle of the night. Her remedy? Kotex. Yes, that's right, my mouth was packed with kotex, cut up in little pieces of course. The oral surgeon actually recommended it and I guess if you think about it, it makes perfect sense.

When I finaly went to get the stitches out the oral surgeon made me sit and bite down hard on gause until the bleeding stopped. Took an hour and a half.

I got mine out a few months ago and I highly doubt that its even close to comparable to your moms monthly adventure.

I dunno... if a woman's monthy visitor is as painful as oral surgury they may want to see someone about that.

Gee, your Mom's a sympathetic soul. Plus she has the wrong orifice in mind - I would think she'd know better, too...

Anyway, sorry to hear it. The pain will subside before too long. Just stay good and dosed in the meantime. :)

Jeez,Jpec and you are 14 right? When i get mine out(Thank the Lord im young)I think im gonna Tape My Mouth Shut when i sleep. So No BLood like MF said.Jeez ,now IM SCARED!

If you've ever had the rear wisdom teeth decay, it's a helluva lot more painful than having them extracted. Be thankful for at least a minute that you had them removed; which is at least a dull pain, curable by drugs.

A decayed tooth is a sharp, repeating pain that makes you think putting a gun to your head might somehow ease the pain because nothing else works. Nothing. When the dentist removed that sucker, I wanted to give him a hug and my first-born, I was so happy (but it could have been the drugs).

Not to mention you have to eat, talk and breathe with your mouth, unlike other orifices...

Well I'm 16...I don't think I have any wisdom teeth...my bro is 19 and he either doesn't have any either or he hasn't had them pulled out(I woulda remembered because I woulda been laughing at him as he's in pain. :)

The worst thing that's happened in my mouth was this "Palletal expander" expensive peice of crap! wrapped around 2 molars on the top with this expandable bridge.
This created several problems:
Stuff getting stuck between the thing and the roof of my mouth(my bro had the same thing, he almost had to go to the hospital when a peanut jammed itself inbetween and wouldn't come out(for almost a day))
Expanding consisted of a key in a little mechanism and every turn was a little bit farther out. This created massive, never ending pain(was tightened every other night, so as I was finally getting use to the new pain it was increased), and they had to come out with a new key after a lot of people ended up swollowing and chocking on the keys(the newer ones had a finger ring so they wouldn't fall).
Teeth staining.
uneven teeth
bleeding
And over all, it forced the braces to work harder to correct what damage this crap caused(it expanded my upper jaw more than needed, so braces had to pull it back in  ).

And to this day we really donno why me and my bro had that in the first place....

BTW, they were on for about a year or more.

NASCAR nut you've never been to the dentist?

WTF?

On a side note, I haven't had a single cavaty, same with my bro. We don't eat much candy so that's probably why.

I had one of those Maz! and yes ot hurt like****!

but atleast i got my braces off about 2 weeks ago:D

yea those were torture. I think I still got mine somewhere in the house...

My braces are sitting somewhere on my dresser. I got them off in the beginning of the year, and got to keep them. they still have the maroon and gold elastics holding them to the wire.

Only problem with my mouth now is the fact that I can't quite close it all the way (due to extensive swelling of my gums). I'm supposed to keep a heat pad and ice on them to keep the swelling down, but I can't type and do that at the same time. too much of a hassle. Closing my mouth is not worth sacrificing my computer uses...

West Virginia's worse.

the most i've had done is a filling, which wasn't bad. i couldn't move the right side of my mouth for a day or so, but that's not comparable to having your wisdom teeth extracted (why do they do that, anyway?). if you hold a laser pointer to my filling for like 4 minutes, it glows in the dark  :thatsodd: .

Generally wisdom teeth are extracted because they're impacted (the teeth have no space in which to grow). This leads to pain and stiffness in the mouth (and jaw in particular) that only gets worse with time.

When you're in that situation, having teeth extracted doesn't sound so bad. :)

I had the same thing, before I had my braces. It hurt like a bastard.

I think I enjoyed the greatest feeling of my life when the freaking thing was removed.

heh 3 people on GTP so far with this same expander crap as torture. Is this some kind of Orthodontist plot to hurt kids or something?

yeah, My teeth were taken out because they were gonna damage my other teeth. It hurts now, and I'm glad I don't have to get them out again...

Just keep in mind that Satan is probably an orthodonist. Draw your own conclusions from there.

Well, I haven't had mine pulled out yet, but it looks like rest assured that it won't hurt one bit! :p :scared:

I've had two teeth pulled out at the same time, 3 times (my two top front teeth when I was 5, and the four teeth in front of the canines pulled on two separate occassions)... good grief, it's usually the shot that hurts me, not the actual pulling!

Make that four, although I don't remember extreme amounts of pain like you three do. I do remember that mine was half blue and half red. I think I still have it sitting in one of the drawers in our bathroom upstairs.

Those teeth weren't impacted. My wisdom teeth were impacted, which means only x-rays showed they were there and about to screw up my whole mouth. So when they took them out they had to saw through the jaw bone to get them. It's a little more involved than a regular extraction. A dentist can pull a tooth but typically an oral surgeon does wisdom teeth.

Dentists are'nt doctors, they're money grubbin creeps. Let's say you have a tooth-ache and it's very painfull,on your knees kinda pain. The dentist will be glad to x-ray your mouth & take your money but you'll have to make an appointment which will be in about 2 weeks or longer. The dentist could'nt cancel & reschedule someones teeth cleaning or adjustment and help you. So munch for the hypocratic oath.
