I'm having some this year but my pancake batter is the powder stuff you just add water to lol. I always have them sweet with sugar, lemon and golden syrup.

While I enjoy making pancakes on occassion, what I'm really craving is this:

Okonomiyaki is very similar in concept to ChopSuey. In essence, you throw ingredients in a pile and cook it.

Have never had the guts to cook it, myself... though I love eating it. Usually, I just go with flour, eggs, water and a little bit of cheese... Mhmmm...

Ah, Shrove Tuesday, the happy feeling of a pancake or 6!

And the bewildering feeling of tossing a pancake and it adhering itself to the ceiling.

Do not fix this post!

Anyone got any top tips for some good British pancakes? Something besides eggs, flour, milk (yes I know that's what they literally are...).

Yes. I am the world's best pancake maker and there is one rule:

Don't put any batter in (a cupful each time) until the pan is so hot it's melting the metal.

Everything else is academic. You can make batter early and chill it if you want - nicely homogenised batter is better, so put some effort into it. I like to leave the pancake alone for 30 seconds before I try to loosen it from the pan (use a non-straight spatula to score round the edge, and then some wrist action to get it moving) and I don't flip it until the heat has solidified the top of it.

I forgot it was pancake day tomorrow so thanks to this thread I've just been to buy the ingredients before the panic shoppers clear the shelves tomorrow.

I think the batter mix is pretty much standard but as far as fillings go I quite like savory...basically cheese and whatever tasty looking meat and veg is lurking at the back of the fridge.

So if you squeeze a lemon on a bag of chips that makes them healthy? Awesome! :dopey:

Hmmm, I was pissed on red wine yesterday so technically that was my day off. :scared:

I was planning to make it tonight ready for tomorrow evening :)

Shall bare that all in mind, and set the tefal frying pan to "incinerate".

It's Monday here, can I still eat pancakes?

I'd rather make them into Yorkshires to be honest and polish them off with some beef. :)

We done yorkshire puddings last month!

I like my pancakes like how I like women. Getting tossed and smothering them in honey.

I like mine limp and wrapped in plastic.....

Oh, that sounds very wrong. I like them from the super market is what I mean, because I can't cook for toffee, not even pancakes.

Am I cheating if I buy the breakfast type Scotch Pancakes so I don't have to cook? I'll still make sure to dump all of the crap from my cupboards on them before I tuck in, mainly chilli, chilli, paprika, chilli, a little cumin, chilli and maybe a slight spattering of chilli.

^^^ Pancake police are out early this year!

Indeed. It has to be perfect for me, anyway. Sugar and Lemon FTW! But sadly there's not enough time to make pancakes before school, so I have to wait until later. :grumpy:

All talk about pancakes I'm craving some at the moment, I usually have 4 or 5, my grandma makes them kind of large and thick. In my home usually topped with maple syrup and butter, and in occasion we add strawberries or peanut butter. On the same plate we also add scrambled eggs, bacon , and sausage.
