Parking your car in GT4!?

Parking isnt the "dopest" thing ever, whats the point of parking if your gonna be raceing :lol: eh oh well, "bank of GT" sounds cool but I wonder how that will work.. and the "classic car shop" might just be that meuseum deal or maybe a certain area to fix up only classic cars like the tune-up section in GT3 but like I said maybe for only classic cars...
 
I think that's a confusion, that refers to the parking lot, where the Ghymkhana and stuff takes place.

Not that we've mentioned Nurburgring in a few hundred other posts over the last few days...
 
Any word on if the parking lot is like a playground for your car. Maybe you could make small road courses like SCCA events. Or maybe drifting contest or just practicing. I know I would like this type of course instead of seeing "wrong way" all the time when I'm trying to drift a certain turn.

When you take out a loan to buy a car. The Bank will charge you 2000% Interest. If you miss a payment, your car gets taken off you. Maybe even your garage. Therefore stopping you from ever paying off your debt, as you can't race. Well until the bank pretty much owns you. It will probably work like any other bank........ It'll completely and utterly Shaft you. **** I don't know. There will probably be some crazy as*ed version of a bank.
 
Yeah, but the bank idea makes sense, as you could borrow some money to buy a racing muffler, for example, and then pay it back when you wi some races because of it.

I hope you weren't going by my post? If so, I was just joking around. I really don't know. It would be good if you can take out a loan, to pay for parts.

But n e ways, after seein some newly updated pictures, i think (but i dont know) parking lot (or whatever its called) is a place, where u find a certain backdrop on a course and then put ur car in the picture. I dont know. just seems that way.
 
That would be Photo Mode.

Not a lot of news has emerged since E3 on the topic, so it's another case of wait and see.

I like Drift's appraisal of banks too, nice 👍
 
Maybe the "bank" is like the Game Status in GT3 where your total credits and prize winnings are displayed.
Being able to borrow money to me seems to defeat the purpose of running the early races and earning money to upgrade the car to be more competitive for latter races?
Will the starting format be different this time around?
Maybe we may not get a starting amount but have to go to the bank to arrange money for your first car. The amoint you are allowed to borrow would depend on how well you do at the first license test?
Anybody know the awnser?

Maybe you're a little too young to remember, but guess what? In Gran Turismo 1 you could already choose between Racing or Drifting style in the Arcade Mode.

NFS doens't represent real drifting anyway. It's no-brainer "drifting" like Ridge Racer.

You still can in GT3, I'll go out on a limb and say you could in GT2 too.
 
Does drift mode in arcade of gran turismo 3 really work. I have never actually tried it but does this actually let you drift???
 
Surprisingly enough it does!!

What it does is change the setup of the car so that the rear end has more of a tendency to lose it's grip and slide out...

On the subject of the "Parking" lot... I strongly suspect that it is the "Gymkhana" and may also include a skid pan for you to practice stuff out on with your car.

a skid pad would be veeeery interesting.
a parking lot that has all your cars lined up in it with a kind of replay mode to look at them/ show your mates could be sweet.
 
just a thought, but couldnt Parking be like the more automotive (sp?) of a save feature? i.e u park your car (save your game) and get out (turn off the PS2)

You know I always lay pretty low and just listen to what people have to say, but this time I won't. I don't recall Njected4Lfe on the list of programmers at Polyphony Digital who are sick of people that like drifting and want it to be implemented in GT4. I personally appreciate the skill it takes, in game and in real life, and I like the fact it is being added to my favorite racing game. I don't think I personally would use any of the techniques while racing in game nor do I think it would be practical. With that said, the game designers have added it as a part of the game where people such as myself can have fun and try new things. You do not have to like it or use it, but some will. I don't like NFSU. I like GT. I do not like being called out for having an opinion or idea, on a message board designed for "discussion" of a game. Peace.

I don't think so simply because it's called the saftey driving park not the parking lot. So I reckon that would be the Gymkahna.
 
Drift Contest has it's own icon at the end of the top row in the "Race" section... ie the parts of the game where competing in autosport is involved.

given the menu it's in... i would say parking is the save game option.

Exactly my point. Drifting not only will be in GT4, but has always been part of Gran Turismo since number 1.
It's ridiculous to make that analogy between NFSU and drifting.



I can see myself spending an entire afternoon navigating through all those "Gran Turismo Resorts" menus...
 
Choosing "Drift" instead of "Race" doesn't change your cars settings at all.
It alters your control input.
Some cars will be faster using drift, whether or not you pick "drift" as your
input scheme (i.e., just because I haven't picked "drift" doesn't mean I won't be drifting, I never pick "drift.")
And you can't rally without drifting.
 
WTF, it changes the way your cars handle, it changes the cars settings ingame. In all GT's the arcade mode cars have had 2 settings each, one for racing settings and one for more tail happy drift settings. You can drift a lot of cars, but you can drift one better with the right settings.
