There would be the choice, if you don't want to race certain categories, don't... Stick to gr3/4. Today we have VW Golf, Gr.4 GT-R and Road GT-R, 3 one make races and the general feeling on this based upon everyone I've spoke to today (Lobbies, stream, friends list) Is that today sucks. Boring boring boring. Had the VW yesterday as well?....
"PD's limited resources" were spent making a versus AI league/mode/campain, rather than adding to and fixing sport mode. Everyone I know (who still plays) wants sports mode to work out. It can be very very fun.
If its a shrinking playerbase you are worried about, fixing and enhancing sport is key. I had a large GT5/6 group die on this game. Most chose PC2 for the better track variation, those who did buy are 'taking a break until online is better'. Bored of the same 6 tracks, 2.5 categories and a menopausal penalty system. Gran Turismo should be a title that doesn't have to worry about head counts.

I didn't mean a shrinking player base (i.e players leaving the game). I meant (these figures off the top of my head) if you have 1,000 players online with x3 events to choose from, lobbies and player matchmaking will have a bigger pool to choose from for each event.

If you give the same 1,000 players 15 events to choose from, matchmaking those individual events will suffer because the player base is more divided and "thinned out" over those events.

I'm sure once PD have analysed the information they glean from player behaviour and preference for races, slightly more choice would become available but it's early in the games life cycle. Let's see how it pans out

Heh. So now even the 3d modellers are split to different jobs and can do only one specific thing? :D I doubt it.

It's the same job (done within same program most likely), just with different shapes, textures and ref. material. etc.

It's not the same job. They both produce 3D models, but that's about it. The skill set required to model a car is totally different from the skill set required to model a track.

They had this built already and chose to delay it for launch. There's no way they would have built this functionality within a month of launch so i'm really pleased that PD are delicately launching these features rather than shouting about them pre-launch like on GT6. ... :)

Agreed, I think that PD built or mostly built GT Sport in the same way as their previous Games & had a full offline Career Mode sorted. Then someone had the "Bright" :boggled:Idea / Revolutionary Concept  of doing the whole on-line Racing only thing :banghead:. So the off-line thing was shelved. It would however, be nice to think that Kaz/PD listened to what their Fans wanted.

I for one won't be complaining about any of the new Free DLC !!:cheers::cheers:

Nice about time for some DLC, not a fan of the Samba bus but it's a welcome to GT sport. so correct me if i wrong until March 2018 we getting all this and after March more free DLC? cars, scapes, etc?

You can probably use the wheel you use on PS3 on your PS4 via Drive Hub. And there's a 10% GTPlanet discount.

I'm using my G27 wheel that way and it's perfect
not sure there is support for my humble GT DF pro :banghead:...I speak too soon but they are all sold out and thee is a waiting list but all good things he he

There is no "free" DLC.
In the next patch (Nov 27th) they included 3 free cars plus the ability to use Scapes,Livery editor and Campain mode offline -you'll need internet connection to save progress-.
Then in December, with a free update they are going to add :
-GT League (single player carreer mode)
-12 cars
Until March 2018 the plan is to add a total of 50 cars in the game. They did not say if those (35 cars) are going to be part of (paid or free) DCL or updates like the one coming next month.
They also gonna add tracks (with no info about number, when or what tracks).
They'll continue to add more content after March 2018.

So say $5.99 for a 6 car pack DLC is released by PD, then by your dictionary definition it could be considered a "microtransaction", but myself and others would more consider that expansion rather than microtransaction.

A 6pk of cars is not an expansion. Even when the car count is as low as in GTS. That word brings an expectation in the video game world. Expansions denote a vast increase in content or some sort of significant change. It isn't simply "There is now 6 more of something. That number has expanded therefore, expansion."

What cars do you want to come to GT Sport? They confirmed that 50 Cars will come by March 2018.

I hope the P1 and the LFA is in the workings as we speak.

What cars are you people wishing for?
P1 and LFA are huge requests for me. I also hope that Lotus makes its return, with every car from previous games as well as (please god) the Exige S/roadster.

Pretty much every supercar/exotic from the previous games. Huayras, Aventador, 458, gallardo, Murciallago, all that sort of thing.

I was just trying to differentiate between microtransactions and DLC wherein a microtransactions is more like in game currency/loot boxes/etc. whereas DLC is more typically content, but I agree with you.

Hopefully GT League gets updated as they add new tracks. IIRC GT6 GT Mode stayed the same throughout its life, which is part of the reason i grew to like the seasonal events more (of course now i consider the daily races the new 'seasonal' events).

Now that you mentioned Lotus, who owns the company now? Because we saw the Evora in gameplay videos (old builds and trailers) but didn’t make it to the full game. I do hope they make a return as well, Lotus Esprit please.

Totally agree. Suggestion - go and look in Options tab About the Game and "development stuff" tab. There you will see the people who worked on this game including by my reckoning around 70 car modellers, including 17 'senior' modellers
(there are two seperate name sections).

Similarly senior and more junior track modellers are shown under Location modellers I believe

. It also shows how many worked on scapes and museum etc (few in latter case).

I was curious as to whether 50 cars by March 2018 matched up to the oft quoted 6 months for each car. High level it does seem to and seems to suggest this reflects around six months of work output since the delay - the senior modellers may well have supervisory respinsibilities.

It will be very interesting to see just how different the GT6 models are in GTS

ps I hope this helps reduce comments as to PD are lazy. The scale of items and dedicated resource per area covered in the base game is impressive - note new Autumn Scapes coming in 1.06 - and gives me hope that PD can succesfully expand both offline and online elements without compromising either.

I'm not sure why people are so excited for this update. When you scratch beneath the surface there really isn't all that much besides the scraps of a desperate attempt to win back casuals, casuals who have in all probability abandoned GT. I'll put my head on the block and say that sales are less than 30% of what PD expected so far. The Microsoft-esque "26 million hours of gameplay" reeks of a pathetic attempt to hide dismal sales. Had they sold at previous rates we would be hearing about it.

Looking further we get a grand total of 15 cars, a measly addition to an already sparse lineup. Also note the word "free" in there which suggests that at some point cars will be costing money. Livery, Scapes and Campaign still require online to save. The GT League comes across as nothing more than a re-packaging of existing events. They've taken the scant offering they have and combined them in ways to make it seem like they've created a proper career. That photo is very telling - A Corvette Stingray for the Sunday Cup? Aside from the lack of cars they've also announced zero new tracks. Further, they'll be adding to these leagues in 2018 which proves this is far from a real campaign mode. Their plan is simply to take what they have now, create a few combinations of competitions and buy some time until they can add more content. They want the gamers who abandoned them to take another bite while they work on a proper career. Tug at their heart strings by using the same names and hope they stick around long enough so you can repair this sorry offering. Anyone expecting a traditional GT career is going to be bitterly disappointed.

It is also possible that some of the modelers have both skill sets.

My post was in direct response to the bottom paragraph of TurboRacer48's post. Pictures are great and all but I'd rather see more focus on the things you mentioned.
