I think the performance of the community list, public lobby list, ect is always going to be piss poor.

Too many people out there, and most of them don't care enough to play well with others. The random multiplayer experience will always be crap. Racing random ip addresses isn't a focus of GT5. Sure, they'll slowly send you a small list of open lobbies so you can add friends, but I doubt we'll see much more than that when it comes to racing random people.

PD will continue to improve the gameplay of the private multiplayer experience. I hope a more robust PP system can be put in place. It would be nice if PP takes not only the car, but the track into account. Instead of 500pp, a car could be listed as 489-510pp, and it will change intelligently depending on the course you take the car to.

The group I race with has a good time with PP regulated endurance races. It works great, when the cars are around the same year.

dude.

The first one is bug fixes, the second one is DLC, and the third one is when everyone is forced offline while Yamauchi let's you drive around his SLS AMG. This has been discussed.

While I hope that you're right, it hasn't been confirmed to be like this, fingers crossed.

Also, every other maintenance notice was right before a patch. ...dumbass.:)

No it wasn't. Don't be abusive, don't double post.

Why does everyone want to go to the playstation store and use a credit card for some reason? I don't get it.

Just donate money to the red cross or something.

DLC does not mean necessarily money.
In my eyes, if a PD DLC will be available it will be free, of course I can be wrong.

But then again, every seasonal event is for newbies, except the single expert one. So, who cares...

The newbies? I suppose they are people like us ... ;)

I agree these should be patched into the game, but I prefer the idea of having these prizes as additional events.

I'd like to see more "special events" added as opposed to "seasonal events". I mean, why are these "seasonal events"? What is "seasonal" about them? Most of the "seasonal events" aren't really in need of an online connection at all, could and should be patched into the game as additional "special events". I'm sure people who don't have an internet connection to their PS3 would agree. I'd have expected "seasonal events" to be more along the lines of being time-trial related where perhaps some celebrity figure(s) could be gifted a PS3 + GT5 on a commitment basis where they'd run a month-long stint at setting & improving their own best time up against the public. I'm sure Sony could find a few celebs to spare a few hours in a month to sit and have a go at setting & improving their own best lap time, even if it's L.Ordonez, other GT Academy winners or KY himself. Naturally I'd prefer to see S.Loeb / S.Vettel / Stig / S.Schmidt / D.Coulthard types run this sort of challenge but with GT5 - we'll take all we can get.

They could just have time locked events on the hard drive. And have them only work if your playstation clock is synced with the Internet. Why not, huh?

Everyone has an opinion.

1.) Too many people with different agendas. I've found quite a few people who - being in last place - either turn and go around the track backwards crashing into whoever they can or rage quit. Same goes for every other racing / driving game out there... All we need here is a means to + / - rep other gamers to hopefully reduce the number of games we have with them.

2.) I don't agree with your opinion. Cars are tuned for tracks. PP is a great way to compare BHP, parts and weight accumulations. It has absolutely nothing to do with tracks and I hope - never will.

That won't work for the reason that your Playstation clock never seems to sync with the Internet unless you select the option manually. GT always complains at me after a few months or so that my PS3 clock has fallen out of sync and the only way to fix it is to quit the game and re-sync the clock in the PS3 settings menu.

What's on the disc is already on the disc - so it's too late for doing that. Downloading time locked events to HDD is pointless when it'd be better to download a patch that has all the latest events built in with the ability to unlock them as you progress your A or B-Spec level.

Also, the F'10 event requires you have a F'10 car which costs well over CR 10M. Other races require specific cars that you either need to buy from the OCD or find while you play. They're hardly for newbies on that basis...

I guess an intelligent PP system would have to be based on too many factors. How far is the race, how much battling there is, how tense the drivers get, whether a high powered car managed tire wear as well as lower powered cars, will pit stops line up well, how likely every car is to have a catastrophic driver error, ect ect...

Best thing to do, I guess, is have the fastest drivers in the group drive underdog cars if you're doing PP regulated races. This will never change...

you're right... (unlike some other people here)

We know that we are getting multiple updates from tweets and last weeks message that went up and came down quickly but maintnenance doesn't mean patch. I hope it is but we will see. When do/did Prologue servers shut down? Could have to do with that.

You do know:

Offline time via matinence=

1. No Seasonals- make your credits last:guilty:
2. No Open Lobby (obviously)
3. B-spec drivers shared are not useable
4. Shared cars are not useable (can be used in arcade if put to favorites)
5. All trading transactions are put on hold
6. No daily paint
8. GT5 will ask you repeatedly to sign into PSN, even though it says it will be down for matinence on the news section of the GT5 Menu

And other annoying things as well.

I still think that anything given in DLC would be free from Kaz. He knows the game did not live up to the hype so this would be a gift. I mean hell he put a gifting option in the game so that was a kind gesture of sorts.

Now if it ends up costing because of man hours making the stuff (we know they don't have it all) and the general "nothing is free" then I understand. But it Kaz's eyes I think he believes it should be free. imo.

Cool! The site is also showing the date for a new NASCAR special event.

6 hours, 1 hour, 8 hours, then 8 hours...

what the hell?

I don't think it's so important.. but for some reason Europe and Japan have a different schedule

4 hours, 1 hour, 6 hours, then 6 hours...

In any event the 1 hour maintenance is 99% related to the Nascar special event because it's right before the event start.

The other periods seem to be relevant to something bigger.
These are my 2 cents:

4 hours -Bug Fixing an Features update)
1 hour - Nascar
6/8 hours - Online Leaderboards
6/8 hours - Online Leaderboards (this may be a real maintenance to adjust possible defects of the previous update)

GT Drivers Club?

Yep. It is still missing ... Kaz said, before the game release, that people could create/join driver teams.. That would be really nice IMO.
EDIT: I was wrong. See mcfizzle post below. In any event driver teams was declared (I just hope it had the same value of youtube uploads...)

I would just wait and see or else everyone is going to get carried away and hope for this and that and then maybe be disappointed.

Just be patient and we will see what happens.

Something not to be disappointed at is:

The Jeff Gordon Event, which is a sign that we can hope to see:

A Stig Outfit
A RedBull S.Loeb/S.Vettel outfit
Kaz's Helmet/Playstation suit

and other things as well.

Incorrect, you may be already signed into PSN, hence it won't ask you.

Just remember that patches are, technically speaking, DownLoadable Content.

Just wanted to point that out. :/

Nowadays DLC means optional extra content, usually paid. In the case of the PS3 it's usually downloaded from the Playstation Store.
Patches are more or less mandatory, pushed to every GT5 user who starts the game after connecting to the PSN.

Any current news? Are the servers down for maintenance right now? (I think 10am EST is 3pm GMT)

Without an internet connection how exactly do you expect they will get said game patch

Download to a usb stick from a library, friends house, parents house, neighbors computer, work computer, go straight to PD and download directly off their server, break into a house and use their computer. There are lots of ways.

No. Maintenance is tomorrow from 5pm GMT. 👍

Well, UK site says this. But actually, I think it's today 5pm GMT. Japanese site says 01:00 24th August JST, which is +9 GMT, so it's... well, now. USA site says it will take six hours, and it started at 10 EST time on 23rd August, so it's already running for over an hour. And polish (my country) site says it's 18:00 CET 23rd August, so 40 minutes to go. So, in conclusion, maintenance is at different time in different places, and UK gets it a bit late or their site is wrong.
This info is from gran-turismo.com site, it's official.

Edit:
I've just gone back to main manu from seasonals and it says that it's currently ongoing maintenance here, in Poland.
