I'm really sick & tired of more and more features that rely on an internet connection for no good reason. My connection is patchy at best so why can't they put these "seasonals" et al in a patch for people like me? I paid the same for the game as everyone else but I don't get the same end-product.

Really? It's 2011 ... in this day and age that's like saying you don't get the same game as everyone else because you have no TV. Upgrade your internet.

I wish it would be so easy, even though I live in germany, till last year, I had an internet connection with max. 85 kb/s... That was the fastest available connection here...

But now finally they gave us faster internet, now I have 3000 kb/s 👍

I think you guys get tooo hyped... We all know PD/Sony... We all get dissapointed so so so so so many times from these guys... And still nothing learned?
If they make us 1 time happy, they make us dissapointed 10 times...

I think you guys think and write something here, people get hyped and then the dissapointment bomb will explode...

We all do.

Well they aren't 'private', a private lobby should be invite-only. If people are in a 'private' lounge in GT5, anyone from their friends list can join, maybe when people don't want them too (i.e. private league, drift team meet, etc).

I understand this completely!
Next thing, you get random nutters and 'friends' you've never played with before coming into your lobby changing the settings, going on 'start race' or setting it to 100 laps of Nurburgring 24 hr layout.

You can set it to where only the host changes things.

Yea, but if you leave your online lobby, the lobby will get passed to the #2. :sly:

But you can change that in the "options" to not pass the lobby to the next (it's getting closed & all others getting disconnected when you leave your lobby).

I can't believe people were expecting a patch...

maintenance does not automatically mean patch.

patch:

piece of software designed to fix problems

maintenance:

fixing any sort of mechanical or electrical device should it become out of order or broken

Spot the difference?

Well, I knew that, but others didn't, so I posted that anyways. Oh well, its still a playable game unlike some (Fallout New Vegas)

Also... The scheduled maintenance hasn't even happened yet. Stop trying to debunk my airtight prophecies. You won't win. Resistance is futile. Fool.

Er, how is that unplayable? I play it a lot and its fine.

For some reason I can barely play it or Fallout 3 without freezes or crashes. But I love them anyways. Other than it being maintenance, the servers seem to be a bit smoother.

I don't know how well you know the game (Gran Turismo 5), but have you ever spotted a "patch" announcement before they rolled out a patch?

Let's re-check how PD works:

1.) "maintenance" announcement
2.) server down
3.) server back
4.) restarting game
5.) game updates at startup
6.) new "patch" announcement ingame
:D:tup:

That's why everyone here hoping it turns into a patch day. Yea, PD information policy sucks. :ouch:

^I'm just happy they told us all what was happening and that it actually had a date and time associated with it in the same paragraph. Now the details would be nice but not needed if we notice less problems.

Actually, before the bigger ones, 1.05, 1.06 and 1.10, we have been notified a couple of days in advance.;)

Really??? Nah, I am 99% sure it was every time like posted above. :sly:

"Maintenance" (server down) announcement before, yes. But the changelog (patch info) announcement after the maintenance & after they forced us to download the update.

It's like russian roulette for us. :scared:

I would upgrade my internet if such an option were available. Unfortunately in my locale it is not. This still does not detract from the fact that there is no technical reason for the seasonals requiring an internet connection other than to initially download them.
