got this but its just so complicated. cant even turn the engine on in the SU-25T. only flight sim I have played before was Microsoft flight and that was so easy, just click some buttons and fly but the jets on this are like push this turn this do things with this! so complicated so I just mess around with the mission editor and watch an SU-25 have a dogfight with an A-10C

Don't stress, just watch the video tutorials and you'll be flying in no time. The game just looks intimidating, trust me.

You only have to turn on electric power and then start the engines with the 25T.

On something like the A-10C you have to do a few dozen steps.

Finally had some time to fly. I asked earlier if anybody knew how to throw a custom paint on. Nobody knew or didn't see the question but I found out. Made a photo in 2009 which I'm very happy with



Wanted to get this paint in DCS and found out that there was one already! It's not exactly the same but it's close..

Once you get over the learning curve of the game in general, the SU25T is probably the easiest jet to use since only a few key strokes turn it on. You can create a fast mission, get rid of all enemies, and browse through the key bindings in the pause menu. Or you could start from the ramp with everything already on.

[Default controls] To turn on the Su25T, start with Right Shift+L. Then Right Alt + Home and Right Ctrl + Home. Right Ctrl + C to close thecanopy. Lower flaps with Left Shift + F (raise again with F) and you're good to go

Video tutorials and really just trial and error in a free flight session will get you up to speed.


Also, I've got a weekend shift from home on Saturday from 4PM Eastern to 10PM (basically just monitoring stuff and making sure no super urgent incidents arise). I can still fly that night but I might be wandering off for a few minutes at a time. That also means I get Friday off. Thinking about finally trying out the FC3 module. Even though I can barely use the weapons on the Su25T I'm ready to start messing around with the fighters.

From the oil rig in the background I want to say somewhere between Tuapse harbor and Sochi, but there's not enough view of the land to tell.

I think Novorrossisk might have some areas like that, but I don't remember an oil rig and I haven't flown over that area in a long while.

So @Carlos and I had a bit of fun. Most was spent on the ground as it took us quite a few goes to take off...

Second attempt we taxied too fast and missed a turn. We both lost steering and Carlos decided to just keep going and try to take off...

Didn't work...

Then my autopilot killed me.


Carlos flew around for a while, then also blew up. I forget why!

We tried again...

And Carlos missed the turning again...

and I found someone a bit further up the taxiway...

Continued on anyway...

and somehow did this... which broke my steering... again

also, Carlos are you running "Warm Colors"? (and that Sukhoi's cockpit textures are like the old Su-25's non-6DOF cockpit . Did they not upgrade it?)

They don't piss me off yet but I will get pissed if I'm getting run over because of it.. Luckily I saw them coming..

No I'm not running warm colors, I think I was running normal or HDR normal. I'll select warm color next time and see how that is

No not at all! I run everything on max, 1900x1200 (something like this) and I do auto levels>auto contrast>auto colour in Photoshop. Not always though, sometimes Photoshop throws weird colours over it but most of the times it edits it pretty nice..

Some other random awesomeness. Was starting up my TF51 when a Su27 flew maybe 10 feet off the ground and 10 feet off my nose.
