I believe that DLC is there as an after thought and or something they wanted in the game but did not have time to put it in.

If I was to avoid buying DLC then I would like many lose out. I think the main issue is the fact that GT5 was unfinished and thin on the ground at launch, and still is in many areas despite free and paid content being added post launch. In some areas it had more than GT4, like online, revised Bspec etc, but allot has been cropped away or not finished to be possibly held back as DLC

Test course as an example was in the last GT and the one before that. Arguably we should have had it in GT5 from the start. Now if we want it we have to pay extra via DLC. I think that is what the issue is here for many that object to this content drip feed we are now getting.

If the consumer wants a full/rich GT5 experience at least equal in terms of content to GT4, then we will have to buy the DLC to fill in the holes.

I have no objections to DLC. It is great for the consumer, and helps the industry in these harsh economical times. I just object to content either being held back or left out so that PD and the like can earn a buck or 2 extra.

I think it has to work for both, so a bit of fairness is in order.

Saying that though, GT5, even if stripped down in many ways vs GT4, it is still a content rich game, with allot more to offer and do vs many others.

As consumers/gamers, we always expect the next game in a franchise to offer all of the same as a previous title and much more. This gen gaming has been a learning curve for console devs, and to develop a game does take allot longer and does cost allot more, yet game prices in many countries have not jumped up in prices like they should have, instead you pay via the DLC.

Test course was never advertised for GT5 so PD had no obligation to put it in there, there's already 2 oval courses in the game and they probably omitted the test course in order to fit one of the other tracks into the game on schedule, so if they included test course you might not have got Madrid or Cape Ring or one of the others

The DLC isn't filling any holes, there was already over 1000 cars in the game at launch so the car packs are certainly not plugging holes and with 20+ tracks and 70+ variations the track packs aren't plugging gaps either, they're simply adding extra content to the game that's optional to purchase. Now if they released A-Spec, B-Spec and Special Events paid for DLC packs that could be considered plugging the holes because in terms of events GT5 is very thin on the ground and that would be a cause for complaint.

as someone said, this third batch of dlc costs one trip to the burger joint ($12, including transportation and something to drink).

In the end only kids complain about GT5's dlc pricing since they got the game for free or bought it for $60 or less. They don't include the cost of their ps3, wheel, tv, home theater and accessories.

Wow that exactly what I wanted to say I applaud you for writing your opinion cause there are people that agree you like me for instance and some people wait for someone to type exactly what they was thinking but don't cause other people would try to say don't buy it you not missing out on nothing

It wasn't advertised no but this is an ongoing gaming series like any other and generally speaking content carries over in gaming series so I personally think we're entitled to be disappointed a feature was removed from the series and then re-added at an added premium.

No we're not forced to buy it but did you consider we want to have the content but not at the price point offered? The large oval and associated speed tests were in GT1, GT2, GT3, GT4, on the disc. I enjoyed using the feature. They stripped it out of an unfinished GT5 and now they're adding it back in but want me to pay an extra £3.20 for it. I want to use it again like I did in previous games but I'm not paying that for it. Yes it's not a lot of money on it's own but it's relative, I only paid £35 for the whole game. I'm not paying nearly a tenth of that again for something that should have been on the disc.

Again you are stuck on the game was not complete this should of been in that should of been in... The bottom line is It was not in the game, but we are getting as DLC. People need to take DLC for what it is. You said it your self It's not a lot of money but it relative? If you want it buy it If you don't that's cool also.

No it doesn't, both the Call of Duty and the Battlefield series' have old maps from previous games released as DLC, they don't take every map from previous games then on top of that add new ones in that years release to make the new game, the old maps get discarded and they're replaced then if the fans want them they get re-released as DLC, Gran Turismo is no different, with each release content changes.

GM are you for realz???

You sell an unfinished C6 for 50k which I think is a scam and now you release a ZR1 which will cost me double the money??? Are you for realz? Just checking an option at mah dealership will cost me double the money? For just 200HP more I have to pay double the price of the car???? You're losing me as a fan...
To take it further you really gets your money worth also. My beer cost me 10 bucks and I'm finished with that if not that day defiantly the next. With these DLC you use them for ever. At 20(rounded to the highest) buck every two months I cannot believe people still complain, and for the fact your not forced to buy the content.

Beer/Corvette: Tangible Goods.
DLC: Intangible Good.

Value for money cannot really be compared between the two in such a way.

The test track was not really a "feature" of the game. It was a track WITH a feature to it. A feature would be Photo Mode, Special Challenge.....ect. In the end it was just a track like all other tracks that did not make it into the game.

another strong point Im on all of y'all side cause I totally get you see they replace our old classic tracks with new one and if we want track from previous GT we would have to pay to relive our memories again

You don't buy beer though, you just rent it.

That's one way to look at it, another is that they've given us one real track, one kart track (much smaller and less work) and are going to give us a test track (much less work, copy and paste) in the space of 13 months.

Really, Is it that easy ? May I suggest you send you CV to PD, Hopefully they will employ you to CUT AND PASTE loads of new tracks into GT5. 👍👍

Actually the Test Track was used as a "feature" in the old games like you describe, the Machine Test.

Ok If my phone has a missing feature in it I have to either buy the newer version of it which is gonna cost me hundreds of dollars or decide not to buy it. Again folks need to take DLC for what it is stop justifying it with It should of came with the package. Products we buy today can be faulted for the same. In the end for ME 10 bucks is 10 bucks.

Exactly and now we have to pay for Machine Test and Test Track

I think charging for the addition of what is essentially the test track and machine test from previous GT's is a bit much.

Here is something that has been a staple of GT 1-4, and now we have to pay for it? I get that the track is "new" in that it now has some track side detail, but come on, they could have included this as part of the update and had a proper track as DLC.

Just seems off.

Judging by that gt5 will be the most expensive game out there.. am i the only one seing this..???
Yes you are. Check out iRacing. That's an expensive game, but it's worth every penny.

The DLC in GT5 is a steal compared to iRacing's content.

Omg there people in this world that have the same opinion as me I'm loving seeing people with similar thought as me I do agree with you 100%

That might be the case.

No you don't, nobody's forcing you to. If you think it's worth it, buy it. If you think it's a rip off then don't.

Of course no one forcing us but some people love seeing Gran Turismo 1-4 on 5 but in order to relive the past is to buy a ps2 cause the ps3 is not backward compatible anymore or buy DLC so actually you're are stuck cause we can't keep avoid all these contents that we want cause PD want to put a price on everything

Bro that's with everything in the world why are you acting like this is new. What game developer do different please show me?

wow. this complaint is same as this:

Dear Ferrari S.p.A,
since I can't afford any of your cars, please do not develop/produce your cars anymore.
sincerly,
Selfish-ignorant being

Who are you to say it "should have been on the disc"?
You didn't get those features in GT5, but you got a handful of other features in GT5 that previous GT games didn't have. I just can't name them cause I never had any of the previous GT games, but others have previously mentioned some, in this thread I believe.

People have a right to complain, and for good reason, but at the same time, Sony had to make a decision to push PD on GT5's release date like they did. If they didn't, we might still be waiting to play it, and Sony/PD wouldn't have made any profit on it yet. PD had to make the decision on what content to package with the initial release. Obviously not everything could make the cut, however, we can be thankful they had additional content almost complete so that they have the option to release more of it quicker, just like they seem to be doing now.

iRacing cost me $65 for my first year and to buy one additional track that I wanted. I do not have access to all of their tracks - like 8 or 9 now nor all of their cars. Next year it will cost me $150 just to be able to access and play the tracks/cars that I have now.

GT5 is a deal compared to that.

The longer your a member of Iracing, the more it costs to use the game?

I don't remember paying for the 86 GT. Plus they threw in a Stealth car for free because I bought some of their DLCs.

PD is a business. Businesses want to make money for the products they produce.

I suppose you have a better idea, comrade?

If you want to relive the past without shelling out any money, go into the closet, dust off the old PS2, and toss in GT4.

When I bought Battlefield 3 I didn't expect to see any maps included from Battlefield 1 or 2, when I bought MW3 I didn't expect maps from MW 1 or 2 and guess what? they weren't in either game, so why do some people seem to think it's a completely different set of rules for Gran Turismo? It's stupid.

Seeing how the game has kept me occupied for more than a year playing daily with just the original 50 euros, DLC pricing sounds almost like a steal.
