I've been reading through a lot of the threads since the update & the amount of bitching & whining is just incredible. Everyone knew what was coming, so why so surprised? PD just can't win. Sure, the game was shoddy at launch but PD worked to make it better along the way with minor updates. (Patches, seasonals, etc.) Sure, they could maybe have done more with spec 2, but as said before, we knew what we were gonna get. Kaz also stated a year ago that the launch was just the beginning & that GT5 was going to evolve. It's doing just that. Do people really expect the perfect game in one major update?

Remember what these people have been through & that they also have lives... Sheesh! :indiff:

i for one am happy that PD has supported its' product. i can't think of many other games i have that have been updated, content added so regularly (except PC games like MMO (which you pay for with subscription) or where the community is the one making mods etc... rather than publisher/developer)

sure there could be some improvements, but that leaves things to look forward to. i think a few people fail to realize how far this game has gone since launch. anyway i am pleased with progress up to date and hope it continues ;)

Every game has it's group of whiners and crybabies. You just have to learn to ignore them (or just use GTP's handy ignore feature!) and carry on with enjoying what you enjoy. 👍

Personally I like Spec 2 and I appreciate everything Kaz and PD have done to improve GT5 for us since it's rough start. This'll be the first game I actually buy DLC for on my PS3, because I want to show some support, even if it's £9.49.

Completely agree.

I'm not up to date on the latest posts. I'm somewhat satisfied with Spec 2, but there was more PD could do. And not more as in "in a perfect world", but realistically, Spec 2 could have been bigger and better. I don't see a problems with complaints against Spec 2 even though I like it myself.

Oh, and reduced credits was a terrible, terrible, terrible, idea.

What I cannot understand is that why people are complaining when we asked for the stuff PD provided. We asked for simple cockpits, we asked for better artificial intelligence, we asked for more RM cars (basically the touring cars are RMs), we asked for more control in the menus in arcade and practice mode, we asked for new suits (everyone was whining for stig outfit), we asked for in race saves, we asked for spa and other new tracks, we asked for improved physics...

All these things are either here, or will be in available to is in a week. Why are people complaining? I agree that GT5 was a disappointment to begin with. I did think for a long time that PD did not listen to fans. We as a group had a major influence on what would happen in Spec II. PD answered many of our requests.

I will not be able to try out Spec II until the weekend but I can't wait. It looks amazing. The most exiting thing of all though is that this is proof that GT5 will continue to evolve based largely on what WE want. So haters, think what you want about 2.0, but it's more than just "an over hyped waste of time".

Guys, let's all just get along and just accept that others may feel differently about spec 2 compared to how we feel. Enjoy or not enjoy it however it suits you. but let's keep snide comment aside.

He is right about that complaining was one of the things that led to Spec 2.0. Complaining is a form of feedback. I'm studying business and a thing that one of the professors taught us is that complaints are oppurtunities.

But I agree, it's annoying :D

👍 /\ hes right.

you people gotta learn to respect other peoples point of view, just cuz you dont agree doesnt mean its wrong,
take my thread for instance here, i have a little moan about some of the feature and you guys come at me all guns blazing, theres a big differance between disapointment and hate, im still gonna play the game daily i love it, just wanted more from it

First of all, I don't think the game was shoddy at launch. It's been a great game from day one as far as I'm concerned. They have continually improved the game, and they have given us more than 70 free seasonal events and time/drift trials since launch. I'm a little underwhelmed with the update and announced DLC, but I will drop $12 without even thinking about it. I'd pay $12 just for Spa.

I find the praise for Spec II even stranger than the bitching.

I know it's nice that they are updating the game and all, but they do not deserve to be praised for spending a year to add features that most other racing games ship with on day-one.

Can I get a hallelujah!

It's tempting to say this, I guess, but not everyone asked for everything. I certainly didn't ask for standard cockpits, race saves, new AI, or new suites. Though I'm not complaining about them.

Some people may not have received a single thing that they wanted.

When seasonals were first announced, the triple prize money was a limited time only thing.

PD could have easily changed their minds and made it last forever.

Try it in four days. It will be doubled.

I'm already at 200% prizes. It's still pathetic. The only partially good thing is that the 200% applies for online races - but those pay even less than A-Spec.

I think this update could have been released months ago.
They just decided to have an impact on the Forza 4 release and this was their only chance, not having a game of their own to release.

main "problem" was calling it Spec 2.0. Some people just thought it was gonna be GT6, because the "SPEC 2" is imponent.
But then again, it's not PD's fault.

I can honestly say I dont think anybody thought it was gonna be GT6, what a stupid comment.

Constructive crtisism is one thing. Moaning and groaning is another. PD did a great job with the update. Can't wait to buy the DLC!

Give it a second thought, you'll notice that I didn't mean really GT6, but my intention was to say some people thought 2.0 was gonna be a complete overhaul.

you people gotta learn to respect other peoples point of view
think about what you said a few posts back.

Thanks for "stupid" anyway, and goodbye.

There wont ever be a game that will fully satisfy players, no way.
GT5 does what GT should do really well

Some posts I've seen are mainly from those who wants to increase their Posts amount to make them more "elite"

some posts have good points

Some dont

So, whatever PD does, it wont be enough

EVEN, they have kept updating GT5 since release, while many other developer would have closed online lobbies already

Why want something if that something will be still something you dont like? I dont get it

The update brings the game a little closer to what it should have been at release, maybe a few more years and they'll nail it.

What I hate more than the moaning and groaning is the PD apologists who constantly make excuses for PD's shortcomings when it comes to this game, the people who just can't bring themselves to say a bad word about Gran Turismo, Polyphony Digital and Kazunori Yamauchi. The people who glorify these free updates and their content like PD are giving us something wonderful when in reality it's just stuff that should have been in the game since launch.

Some examples:

Mechanical damage - It was advertised prior to the games launch yet wasn't included until an update.

Interior views - They half-arsed it when they made this premium only, they've half-arsed it again with this pathetic attempt added in Spec 2.0 that's a disgrace to be in a seventh generation console game.

DLC - There's an RM option already in GT5, however with only 17 out of 1000+ cars able to get the racing modification it was another half-arsed attempt by PD. Now they have the cheek to ask us to pay for RM cars.

2011 NASCAR models - Since GT5 was launched after the 2010 NASCAR season finished they basically gave us out of date models so I think that since they advertised the NASCAR licence heavily before launch it's only fair they should be up to date with their content, but in one month time these 2011 models will also be out of date. So another PD fail.

Bug and glitch fixes - Games shouldn't be released with them so no big deal there, what's very concerning is that almost a year down the line PD are still fixing the game! It doesn't say much for their game developing skills, alarm bells are ringing.

Endurance race saves - That's just common sense and should have been there from day one, people have been asking for it for almost a year, it's about time.

Replay controls - Really, what game can you not fast forward and rewind your replays? It's hardly a new thing in the gaming world, should have been there from day one.

Seasonal Events - Put there to make up for the poor amount of A-Spec events in GT5 and because the levelling system and prize money is so bad that it required you to grind the same races constantly to progress.

I could go on and on picking it apart. For all those who think PD are wonderful and have been supporting their game for a year that is simply not the case, they've been fixing their game for a year. Huge difference.

I would like to say go make your own game to a lot of the posters, but I can see that hitting me back on the face.
 If we "took out" every flamer and whiner 99% of developed countries' population would vanish. Only the poor would be left beacuse they have so few that they just don't complain :(
