What I hate more than the moaning and groaning is the PD apologists who constantly make excuses for PD's shortcomings when it comes to this game, the people who just can't bring themselves to say a bad word about Gran Turismo, Polyphony Digital and Kazunori Yamauchi. The people who glorify these free updates and their content like PD are giving us something wonderful when in reality it's just stuff that should have been in the game since launch.
Some examples:
Mechanical damage - It was advertised prior to the games launch yet wasn't included until an update.
Interior views - They half-arsed it when they made this premium only, they've half-arsed it again with this pathetic attempt added in Spec 2.0 that's a disgrace to be in a seventh generation console game.
DLC - There's an RM option already in GT5, however with only 17 out of 1000+ cars able to get the racing modification it was another half-arsed attempt by PD. Now they have the cheek to ask us to pay for RM cars.
2011 NASCAR models - Since GT5 was launched after the 2010 NASCAR season finished they basically gave us out of date models so I think that since they advertised the NASCAR licence heavily before launch it's only fair they should be up to date with their content, but in one month time these 2011 models will also be out of date. So another PD fail.
Bug and glitch fixes - Games shouldn't be released with them so no big deal there, what's very concerning is that almost a year down the line PD are still fixing the game! It doesn't say much for their game developing skills, alarm bells are ringing.
Endurance race saves - That's just common sense and should have been there from day one, people have been asking for it for almost a year, it's about time.
Replay controls - Really, what game can you not fast forward and rewind your replays? It's hardly a new thing in the gaming world, should have been there from day one.
Seasonal Events - Put there to make up for the poor amount of A-Spec events in GT5 and because the levelling system and prize money is so bad that it required you to grind the same races constantly to progress.
I could go on and on picking it apart. For all those who think PD are wonderful and have been supporting their game for a year that is simply not the case, they've been fixing their game for a year. Huge difference.
