Like seriously this guy smashes into me and sends straight in to invisible wall and I get penalty and he doesn't? I mean seriously I braked and that guy hit from behind and he just drives away with no penalty.

Yes, the penalty system has its flaws. It's fairly decent when it comes to dealing with corner cutting but collision penalty decisions still need some tweaking.

Ghosting one car while passing, then hitting a car that spun, is unacceptable. I just race without penalties and boot the problem kids. Prologue was better, but could also be abused.

If he hit you while he was braking but couldn't stop in time, he most likely wont get a penalty (in GT5). You got the penalty because you hit the wall. What I've learned from doing time trials is that if you try to avoid hitting something but indeed hit it, they will wave a penalty. If you hit something directly without applying brakes or trying to stop (carelessness in most cases but not yours), you will get a penalty. There are flaws in the system though, however, most of them can be avoided if you try to avoid (even though it might be impossible).

There are a lot more penalties than this, I'm just explaining your example.

Well, the other day, in my own lobby, someone used me as a bouncing pad of the wall. And, I got a penalty and he didn't. And clearly he didn't get a penalty as he went on to win the race while I came in last.

Oh yeah, and of course, he got kicked after that.

Did I give you the impression that it would be acceptable? I agree that the best option is to leave penalties off and solve such problems in the lobby after the race has finished. However, this requires that the host abides to proper racing etiquette.

You didn't, PD did. At least they gave it as an option.

I agree about hosting, which is why I generally host. If I'm not hosting, I'm racing a trusted group of friends.

And when I'm hosting, I know about etiquette. In fact, I'm an instructor on the topic for GTP Racing School. 👍
