Right now, i'm doing the Like the Wind with the Huayra GT Anniversary model.
It's max speed is 270 MPH at SSRX. In Wikipedia, it says that it's max speed is 231 MPH.

Why PD done that? I remember a thread related to this, throw me the link if you know

Remember a few things, GT is a game and there are limits to what they actually simulated. Tire destruction is something that isn't simulated which is why you can see people driving Veyron's around SSRX for long races without the tires exploding from friction, I mean even the McLaren F1 suffered tire destruction on it's top speed runs. Also drivers in real life tend to enjoy living and prefer not to push cars beyond a certain limit as things get dicey really quickly at such speeds. One day we'll see some more realistic simulation features that will curb some of the heroics pulled off by armchair drivers. Also the Anniversary edition has more power than the stock version of the same car does it not, that would make it faster but not by much though. It's not a big deal as you think since you'll never realistically see such speeds unless your racing on the SSRX(most boring course in GT ever).

Hmm, anyone speed tested the Veyron on SSRX and see if the tires actually reach a high temp that is beyond normal running temps for racing?

Found your problem right there.
 
It's big issue with aerodynamics and air resistance, mostly noticeable at highest speeds. Something to solve in future.

A sport exhaust - 20/30 extra horsepower isn't going to get you 40mp/h.

I haven't tried any exhaust on any car (mostly after all the terrible results I usually got in GT5), but I still think using one of the 15th Anniversary cars to make this point is abit unnecessary as its far from being stock to begin with (and its misleading given the amount of people who still aren't smart enough to tell the difference).

The AE Huayra has 21 hp over the vanilla version, hardly far from stock.

That's why I said it is not the ONLY problem. :)
Sure, the AE cars are tuned and you can't compare them to the normal versions. However, comparisons between normal versions also show a much higher top speed in the GT6 versions of the cars.
 
Not the first time PD screwed up, certainly not the last. I hate how so many cars have gearing completely off. McLaren F1 doesn't even need 6th gear in GT5/6 when it pulls max RPM in the gear in real life. Same with the F40, which also stupidly crawls at a snail pace until like 20-30 MPH for no reason at all. Ridiculous.
 
Aren't the flaps supposed to rise by 10 degrees above 50 mph to increase downforce? In the game they rise at first, but then they go flat again as the speed increases.

There's 2 problems actually: I raced on SSRX, a fictional track Made for ridiculous top speeds. Sure it's unrealistic, but it's so funny that i don't care.
After this, i found another suprise: THE CAR HAS A SEVENTH GEAR! IT MAXED OUT ON 290MPH

1. How did you go faster at SSR7 than SSRX?

2. How did you not know it had a 7th gear before? Usually when I hit the rev limiter in 6th I still try and shift up just in case.

Also, since when is 1 gear worth only 20 MPH? And if you say "because the gearing is so tall" then what kind of super cars in GT6 come with stock gearing over over 300 MPH?


Personally, I no longer believe your story. I'd like to see some proof of this car being 'stock' and of these said speeds.


I know there are inefficiencies in GT6 but I don't see how any car can hit 290 stock unless it's an X car.

If only you had a copy of GT6, you could try it out yourself.

I don't know or care the Huayra's top speed in GT6, I know in GT6 most supercars exceed real life top speeds by at least 20mph.(without an oil change, at real life power level)

It is quite "whack" as the kids are saying.

I do have a copy of GT6. I'm testing it right now.

And also, McLaren F1 actually falls a few MPH short of real life top speed.

Try Arcade mode - courtesy car - Corvette Stingray '14 at SSRX.
After you've recorded a top speed, check the real life figures for that car.

The McLaren F1 is modelled with an incorrect final drive ratio that gives it a theoretical top speed of 310 mp/h, it stalls in 6th...
 


As far as I'm concerned, the OP's story isn't possible.

I just did this (sorry for poor video and driving, hard to do both at the same time and I don't have a capture card)

The highest it reached without the aid of going downhill is 258. While that is a bit much (even with the extra 20 HP over the standard car) it is 12 MPH from rumored 270. It's not even close to 290! This car would not be able to do much more than 275 in 7th gear anyways.

Im not disputing that the top speeds in GT6 are too high. But keep in mind that SSRX is unrealistically perfect- the most they could probably achieve in the real world without using Ehra Lessiens is 250. And that's not miles beyond what the car does in real life with 20 HP less.

Conclusion: OP is BS.
 
In gt6 you have to put on the aero parts to get more realistic speeds with the street cars. Heres an example I have the GTR 12 Black edition full mod doing 295mph, The stock downforce is set to 20 front 20 rear, by adding the areo parts (spoiler and the other parts) my car max at 257mph with the downforce at 20 front 25 rear. You will also notice the race cars cannot do no where near those speeds.

Thats what I was thinking, draft changes everything.

And you're right, 19 is actually quite a lot. But that 20 HP has to be worth a few. And the length of Route X does too, you could never get that car up to that speed normally.

But yes, it still is too quick. Although not as far fetched as OP originally said.
