PD was right not to include the save game backup

Oh ffs. Here's how it works:

1. People buy the game.

2. People play the game, cheating or not.

If you can be bothered to post about the 'cheaters' then you are as bad as them. Let them 'cheat', just don't get involved. That's what a /lounge/ is for; playing with people you know, the kind of people who won't cheat and won't bring the fastest car and crash into people and spoil things and then have time to gloat about how fast their car is.
If you don't want people to spoil your fun, don't let them. Just ignore them. No-one's forcing you to pay attention to the 'cheaters'.

Im not talking about the X1 in particular. I dont have it and it doesn't look like that much fun from the vids Ive seen. What I meant was that when Im racing online I much prefer it when we are all in the same car. The racings closer that way.

With these new 'cheats' I imagine all cars will be available in abundance.

When some proper GTP organised races go up it will be no problem for a friend to gift you a car if you dont already have it.
Oh, this makes much more sense, and I agree with you. I'm okay with people having an abundance of cars as long as races can be organized well, the open lobby will be very bad sometimes, though. The way I see it is that if you don't want to use these cheats then just don't use them, that part of the game i not against others, it's against yourself pretty much, so you do as you like

Holy hell. You are over 30 and this concerned about fake video game accomplishments? And brag about owning consoles and when you started gaming? Not too much to say to you is there? Who in the hell cares?
Congrats...you like gaming too much...kudos, what do you want a cookie?

You own an IT staffing company and would fire me based on my video game activities? Oh noes. Better not let my job find out about this...what would they think?

And again, way to brag about your life on the internet...your reward is in the mail.

I hope I don't run into my idiots like you on here. Sorry I wasted my time even talking to it. Just a little punk, inb4 lol's. All because you want to cheat and I don't agree with it? I see you fail in understanding as well. You out of school yet? College at least? What you see as bragging is a sign of you as a failure so far in life? Just because you need to cheat to get what you have. While other's earn it. So we are bragging,,, yeah ok got it (accomplishment = bragging ). I'd give you a cookie too. But you'd probably already steal one anyway.

this is most disappointing to read about. the fact there were some really rare cars that were hard to come by was very cool. i don't even like the online dealership idea. whats the point of making the formula gt available all the time to everyone. they should have just made it available to buy new if they were gonna do that.

on the flip side of the coin...what if you're sitting at a level 24 with everything but the Formula GT Championship beaten and you have been refreshing the used car lot for a few hours every day for the past week and have yet to see a Formula GT...

that is a Formula for people just putting the game down and never coming back...

Because then they would have had to make it Premium. I'm guessing this is just a band-aid until they go through and rebalance the Used Car Dealer anyways.

I am glad we can now backup the gamesave as I have already lost a PS3 to the YLOD, I have no problme with people cloning/duoing/gifting and generally having a blaast - I just hope PD and Sony dont get all bent out of shape and take away our ability to backup our saves.

That is all that really matters to me - i would not still play th eodd Gt4 or TT game if i didnthave my old saves available - I have no interest in starting those games over again - the same holds true for GT5.

If they want me to play it for 6 years and buy the future DLC, then preserve my abilit to back it up.

The bottomline reallis that those that choose to exploit this most basic of fuctions (the backup) dont really affect me, my game or my life at all - :)

I dont see what the problem is, i really don't.
People paid 60$ for a game, and they'll exploit it and bitch that we can't do more till their heart's content, and everyone is free to do as they wish to obtain what they want, like i said before, it the nature of the Human race to want everything for nothing, espically when the standards are insanely high.
So everyone please get off your damn podium and preach to everyone that they should play the game the "right" way and work for the cars. All it does is start ********, which i think this thread was made for. My Timesavers pack thread was just a proposal which i got my head bit off for. I want an X1, and if it's possible i'll friggen duplicate my save, get 2 and share the wealth with my friends, a.k.a Kindness, which is a trait that is execedingly damn rare in humans anymore.
/endgoddamnrant.

As stated by many on this forum, the exploit isn't really cheating in sense that it hurts anyone but those who choose to be offended by it. But again go ahead and continue to concern yourself with that. The facts being I used the birthday exploit once and got two cars and then moved on, but still see no problem with anyone getting any car through those means. As long as I don't affect your gameplay, who cares what you think...my game, my money, my decisions. But nevertheless, still can't figure out why you let it affect you so much. Fake cars, fake garage. Still you fume.

But more importantly for a guy who is well over 30 years old, you sure like to talk on the internet about your accomplishments (real life and sadly GT ones) to put others down. See a lot of kids doing that, not many grown men. Also in regards to maturity, you sure do a lot of name calling. I suppose that is the last resort when your argument is essentially faulty.

You presume to know so much about me and my status in life because of what I choose to do with a video game I own. Pretty big leaps Sherlock. I can assure you my lack of failure in life is exactly what has me so busy that I can't play GT all day long. But again, I wont get into an e-pissing contest as to who is more successful and who does what. I'm comfortable with what I do and my future. It seems you are a bit insecure, in that an internet argument will cause you to post all about your life's accomplishments as if it has any relevance to the discussion about a video game.

But like I said, yes, I'm sure you are successful. I'm sure your company provides a nice service. Great good for you. Good you use it as a platform to try to put others down (whether it is true in reality or not).

But I bet my bottom dollar, what I do for a living is judged by society to have a far more noble impact on the world than your IT company. I could post the pictures of what I drive in real life and what diplomas hang on my wall to put you in your place. But I'm not that petty and even more so, it's fun to watch you try to put me down Mr. IT man.

Water off a duck's back my friend...water off a duck's back.

edit: Your spelling and grammar are atrocious. Read your posts.

yeah, i understand you. that's a good point.

Question: I'm sure this has been brought up, but why would you care who has 30 X1's? HAHA.

I've been playing (and loving) the new patch all day and I haven't been bothered by anyone with 30 X1's in their garage. Weird.

My turn? again? Lets see, you have no problem with exploits and cheaters. Because you feel it doesn't effect everyone else. So no once can trade or gift the cars cloned? Thus getting used in online play that gives credits now?

Funny how you see things, read and interpret things. You take things and think of them in a way not intended. I might do the same as to be fair. This is the Internet after all. I speak for the fair and honest. You speak for the cheating is ok and that is the bottom line.

As far as my company and life. Funny as you did a name call that prompted me to even response back that way. Or did you forget? You don't know me as I don't know you. Even in this response you think your service is better without no knowledge what so ever. Again, this goes back to must be a real life issue you have of against others who have done well. You take a lot of criticism in your life or something? Anyway, you stay busy with whatever it is you do. That way you can cheat in other area's in life. Then justify it how ever you see fit. But you seem to have made this about me and you. For that is when I said step up then if it's so personal. Just because I'm not so busy anymore doesn't mean I haven't been there done that years and years ago and for many years. I did two tours in the Marines, I had crap jobs, I raised 3 kids, I have a 7 figure home. Again, we don't know each other and even after this we still won't.

Again, exploit to get the cars. Not like they will give you instantly level 40 or anything right? I'll just continue with what I'm doing and look for PD's response to the new issue. As again, I'm sure they know about it already.

Take care.

Personally, I don't have anything against people getting cars through save-stuff or whatever.

For all of those who don't want to, or literally don't have the time to play 3-4 hours a day, it's a great option.

It makes their 60 usd much more enjoyable.

At the same time I understand those who work to get the special cars, and appreciate their rarity...

now I can finally go to another friends house without having to bring my PS3 there, just in order to play the cars.. instead I can just grab my save on a usb, and enjoy no matter where I go.

I don't care how many exploits it exposes, or what people do with their own game, or how it affects the car-trading scene. It was INSANITY not to have the capability to backup our saves from the beginning. I think of the hours I've already put into this game and shudder at the thought of losing my progress.

Holy sweet Jeebus... I have never seen such whiners and complainers. On BOTH sides of this redundant, mundane argument. I would say you all are acting like a bunch of whiny 8 year olds, but then I realized that that would be too much of an insult. TO THE 8 YEAR OLDS.

For those that want to cheat and steal cars: go for it. It's your game. You paid YOUR money for it. You are playing it (most likely) in YOUR home, on your own accord. You aren't going to affect my game play one bit...but when we meet up online, don't start bitching when I wipe the floor with you...because I put in the time to learn the cars and the tracks.

To those that see this as something so egregious that they can no longer play without feeling slighted: kindly change your diaper and grow up.

To those that feel PD made a huge mistake by allowing people to backup their save data: You have obviously NEVER felt the gut-wrenching agony that you get at that instance of seeing that bastion of doom...the great YLOD. You have never had to experience that moment of realization that you just lost ALL your save data and have to redo ALL the grinding, re-find all the awesome cars you just lost, re-take all the mundane, pointless license tests, put up with the VW Bus challenge...again.

To everyone else: have a nice day!

I totally agree there. No backup is not right either. I guess the dev's will be at work to find a solution. One that might just take away car trading...who knows. But yeah, the lack of saving is way to risky for the users. Heck, level lock the cars to where you cannot use it period unless you meet the level needed. That way, we all grind and put the time in.

I'll just address the part about the game. I continue to not care about the e-pissing contest. I don't care how much money you make or how many kids you have or how many tours of whatever you did. Not relevant.
I said the line about my job because you told me what you do. I share no further as I don't use what I do to as a point of bragging to people I've never met.

Anyways, back to topic...ethics is a huge part of my job, encountered every second of every day. I face the threat of job loss or litigation at every lapse thereof. I think I do ok with it. That being said, who cares about my real life. You seem hell bent on extrapolating actions and attitudes based on this game to all of life. This is my problem with you and your horse so high.

This is a video game. One that I don't necessarily agree with in terms of arbitrary unlocking mechanics and prices of cars set by PD. And in respect to me, I don't have time to play to that degree so I find it unfair that I paid for the game and am not allowed to enjoy it as I see fit unless I grind (which again, I don't have the option to do).

So I'm ok with there being a work around for it, because the 'ethics' of the situation are arbitrary and in a GAME! Nevermind the fact I used the birthday expolit a whole one time and have no plans to use it any further because it's a waste of time as well for me and I'd rather just play.

I don't condone any form of cheating that gives me an advantage that you don't have access to (ie an exploit to make my cars all have 400 more hp than anyone else). This affects others and thus is not kosher. The only way the current exploit affects you is others having cars. How they got them, you only assume and as long as you are a better driver, what does it matter?

But regardless, this isn't a reflection of people's real lives. That is something you must separate.

As echoed by many, this is a moot point really. You have your issues, I have mine. I have to get back to work and while this has been a fun distraction, no more time left on the clock to waste on a forum about a game that I hardly play.

I love how all the whine threads have pages and pages of posts. You can pretty much spot them before going in them just from the post count.

Oh noes guys, the video game economy is crashing, sell all your stocks in the DOW Kaz. We got to subsidize our paint chips, and invest in small gains coupes for high return rates. This way we can recover our Credits so we can get our B-spec children through Driving College.

I'm putting my credits into the Horns Futures market! 👍

Note: This is not an angry post. Just my opinions. ;)

I tried to birthday exploit, but was pleasantly surprised that my plans were thwarted by the update last night. :)

I would rather be able to back up my save game and have people exploiting the system than to not be able to backup my save.

But, seriously people.

1: It's only a game. I love this game as the next GT fan, but it's important to know this.

2: Other people may want to play the game a different way. That's fine. If they want to exploit and cheat through the game, let em. It only ruins their experience and the car economy.

3: We should wait and see what PD does. Maybe they might lock savegames to accounts so that if you load a savegame on another account, it disables all online features?

4: This car exploit is also a great way to exploit paint chips. You can multiply all of your paint chips with this. (Horns, too :D)

Here's some perspective for everyone. People say that duplicating and birthday exploiting is cheating and not playing the game as PD intended. Fine great.

Ask yourself this one question. Have you done anything in GT5 that PD probably didn't intend and exploited an aspect of the game no matter how small?

Have you cut the chicane to make up time?
Have you used a car as a mobile guard rail to get the inside line on a corner?
Have you gone off track to avoid another car instead of braking to stay behind in proper racing style?
Have you used ANY overpowered car to win a race that would otherwise be a challenge to win with the usual competition cars?

No? Well great, you uphold a hell of a moral standard.
Yes? Well reconsider your moral stance about any other exploit that doesn't really affect anything but your game.

By the way, cheating exists in the GT series since a while, although back then it required the use of a gameshark or similar device.

Did people compained?

No. Those not liking it simply didnt use it, letting the cheaters cheat like they want.

Both the cheaters and the non-cheaters lived happy.
Cheaters because they got all the stuff they wanted.
Non-cheaters because of the sense of accomplishment.

And to those saying it ruined trading, trading was already "ruined" on day one, because of the Birthday Glitch.

This, and the fact there was never trading in the game. There was gifting. You give someone a car... as a gift, not part of a deal. This whole market/commodity thing you guys have conjured up is nothing more than a fantasy, it's something you wish the game could be, but isn't. Perhaps you just couldn't bear the thought that GT's biggest rival had a unique feature.

I don't really care about the duping, there isn't an economy in GT5 like there is in Forza.

I just want to go online and race under different sets of rules and different conditions on different tracks. People duping things has no effect on me and I'd much rather be able to back up my save game than eradicate dupers.

You can only drive one car at a time, there are no real unique cars in the game that no one else can get so it really doesn't matter.

Yes, some people will get 'ahead' in the game this way, but this game is about driving and tuning more than anything else and duping isn't going to break that in any way whatsoever.

Now everyone has several X1/X2010 for trade

Yes I know its just a game but it shows why mankind is so stupid.

Cant the exploiters see that its only going to ruin/make it less enjoyable - the online and offline experience.

And if they (PD) dont include a backup utility for the saved games in a future GT I wouldnt be suprised.
Tell me how this affects you negatively.
