What you, me, PD or Ferrari wan't at this time is all irrelivent. EA hold the exclusive Ferari license and until it's free PD can't touch Ferrari. No petition, no donations or anything like that would give Ferrari a higher chance of being in. Money isn't really an issue with PD being part of Sony, it's weather or not EA will share the license now (which they won't, atleast not with Sony) or weather PD negotiate the best deal for Ferrari when the license does run out.

Hence "it's weather or not EA will share the license now (which they won't, atleast not with Sony)". Microsoft paid EA a large sum of money to use that licese in PGR and PGR2 and I presume the same has been done for Forza. EA will never share that license with Sony or and sub company, they arn't the biggest fans of each other and GT has pretty much ruined EA's NFS series forcing it to change direction.

if EA wouldnt let sony buy the license why did they let microsoft?

pgr competes with nfs as much as gt does right?

so why ferraris in pgr and not gt?

PGR diod not destror NFS sales, GT did also as I said EA and Sony are not two companies that deal together, they haven't for a long time and there has been legal issues between the two in the past.

BTW I'm not bashing on your thread or anything, but it is a fact that EA own the exclusive Ferrari license and it's up to them who they share it with, not Ferrari. Also Microsoft would be willing to pay an awful lot more for that license than Sony would, IF EA would even consider sharing it with Sony. On top of that I bet Microsoft paid EA even more to so they wouldn't share with anyone else.

I hate EA :( their games suck and yet they hold all the good licences
 :yuck: :dopey: :indiff:

WELL IM NEW HERE, WRITING YOU FROM EUROPE..

WELL FERRARIS,HHMMM, I PREFER MORE LAMBOS. AND IS STILL A PROBS.
WITH THE LICENCE BETWEEN mircosoft AND ferrari

SO MAYBE WE FIND SOME STEALTH VERSIONS OF IT. LIKE THE PORSCHES
WITH MANUFACTOR ruf.

SO ,ITS NOT THE END AND enjoy the best race game ever

NO BULL**** WITH DTM2 , PGR OR OTHERS ....... THATS THE TRUE STORY

SRY FOR MY bad ENGLISH , DAMN KEYBOARD...................... :scared: :dunce: 💡

I keep finding this odd because EA held off on the Xbox Live bandwagon for quite a while, and the PS2/PC versions were often compatible whilst the Xbox versions weren't.

"NO BULL**** WITH DTM2 , PGR OR OTHERS ....... THATS THE TRUE STORY"

apologize for your lack of sense first

Why can't some people realise that sony are not the ONLY games company, I'm sure there are licenses that sony hold that others do not.

I petition that a shared response that Ferrari give license to Sony Computer Entertainment Incorporated and Polyphony Digital for the use of Gran Turismo 4 for and/or other Gran Turismo Games.

Hippies petition.

You need to realise that it's a very seldom occurrence that a bunch of signatures changes a policy. If they did we'd spend our lives filling in petitions for every single concept imaginable. You know what happens then? No one cares because they've seen it all before a billion times. It sets a precedent and precedents are dangerous because people use them too frequently, often when they're inapplicable.

I don't resent you for trying or anything, it's a nice thought, but the cold, hard reality is that no one here has the power to make a difference on this topic. If anything it serves to reinforce EA's resolve to maintain control of the license, because they have a veritable customer list of people who desperately desire to play games with a Ferrari in them, and at least some of those are going to waver no matter how 'dedicated' they are to a particular franchise.

Petitions do work, they do in the western world anyway - much British policy has been changed because of petitions.... enough political rant.

I don't belive that EA actually hold the key here - If Sony/PD really wanted a Ferrari licence - i'm sure they could scrape together enough cash to get it. The question is - do Ferrari want to be in GT4? - i can't see any reason why they would unfortunatly.

EA are the key holders, they hold the license. EA will not share it with Sony, hence no Ferrari in GT until EA lose the license. Ferrari want to be in GT, they have said that before, but Ferrari can't let themselves go into GT until EA's license runs out. I bet Microsoft paid EA a little, scratch that, a lot more on top of what EA asked to share the license to make them the only other company allowed to share the license. Result, notihng Sony can do about it exept wait.

Oh and some petitions work, but not when licensing has to do with it.

live's on the ball here yet again... here's what's gotta happen to see the Italian beauties in GT:
1) EA's exclusive license expires (november 04 apparently is the date)
2) Ferrari doesn't renew the EA license on an exclusive basis
3) Ferrari wants to be in GT (which they have stated publically)
4) Ferrari and PD can come to terms on a license (everyone keeps saying Sony... the license deal will be with PD, yayaya PD is technically owned by SCE, but it is a seperate company that produces the games and that's who has to get the licenses)

Lastly i don't get all this "EA doesn't like or want to deal with Sony" stuff either... EA actually has done more things preferentially and exclusively for Sony and PS2 than other platforms. If you mean/say EA doesn't want to cooperate with PD... correct... don't give a competitor in game development access to your exclusive licenses, but why would you as a software company want to alienate the largest hardware manufacturer and distribution mechanism for your product.

They got the 100% exclusive rights to their license? Well that sucks. I guess money can't buy everything. Unless you are Microsoft and EA.

Petition's might be meaningless or moot in some cases. But it doesn't hurt to try. They have been successful before. Too bad the info live4speed supplied proves this one won't be.

I agree. Why wouldn't brands like Porshe and Ferrarri want to be in Polyphony's GT series? They are the most recognized racing games on the planet. It's uber advertising for them.

Because GT isn't the only racing game in the world, and Sony are not the only games company in the world. Other games want these cars in just as bad.

I never said that it was...

I'd rather have my game advertised to the most eyes, then accept another contract with a *ahem* (lesser known developer) just to have a few more dollars to line my pockets that are already laced with gold.

If you are going to advertise your product you go with the best distributor.

Well ferrari and porsche obviously don't agree. Personally I'm not too bothered, theres more then enough cars anyway...though a 250 gto would be nice :)

I got a question. *raises hand* How do you guys know when the contracts expire, and when they begun? Got link?

I'm not to bothered either. Lots of cars to go around. And there's always Venturi and RUF for the enthusiasts who need a Ferrari or Porshe clone.

I just wish they'd bring back the Plymouth Superbird. But as long as a Mercury Cougar is in it i'm good.

Hello, superlemon. I've backed off from this topic, and the last "controversial" petition topic I participated was for a petition to shut down the Gran Turismo 4 forums until GT4 has been released at its November world date. To see what happened, you may search for that petition and see my commentary. Anyhow, I think it's time I provide some friendly and critical commentary.

As much as I like Ferrari, I know how you feel. I made my "McLaren in GT4: Welcome to the Party or Uninvited?" topic about McLarens in GT4, even if it is just the Fina McLaren GTR. And with GT4 looking to accomplish the goal of historically-significant cars, you have to take either Ferrari or Porsche. It is like this year's NFL Draft, whereas the two college standouts who went pro were Eli Manning of Ole Miss and Ben Roethlisberger of Miami University (Ohio). One recently-released game features all Ferraris you can race, and that is Sega's remake of the classic "OutRun" arcade series. It may be Japan-only, but you can imagine what a game with only one car make in a game is like. As far as the "game of the year" prospect Gran Turismo 4 goes, if Ferrari won't be in the game... I hate to say this, but, that's Ferrari's decision. Personally, I'd love to see Ferrari. But you have to imagine what Ferrari SpA (like I know what THAT stands for) is thinking when looking at Gran Turismo 4. Maybe the game player in question will pull off insane acts and unrealistic tuning. And to consider online play, if the GT racer is a nut, then Ferrari wouldn't want that. On another hand, maybe Ferrari just doesn't want to be represented for this GT. The petition is a bad idea because no one person has the power to control a world-recognized car maker such as Ferrari, to put their cars into a game because one person (along with many others) say so. Sure in America, only the people can vote for what's best in our lives, but in terms of gaming, I don't see this "petition" going anywhere or leading to anything big.

All in all, I admire your respect for Ferrari and it being in a GT game, much less GT4. But I'm afraid it might not happen, even if you protest with a group of followers to Ferrari Headquarters in Italy. I'm sorry. Well, there you have it. Have a good day.
