Would any of you guys recommend a practice net for home practice? I can travel to my local play fields during the day but evenings when I get home from work it's starting to get darker quicker now I'm only left with an hour play time at the most and it's getting shorter.

This is my swing so far, after about two months of practice and roughly about 1500 balls and no rounds.

You have any trees at your house? I live backed on to a ravine and a ton of trees lining the back edge of my yard. We've strung up some fishing line and got a mat from the local driving range. Nice to just go out and wack a few balls.

Only problems with netting outside are: can't tell distance or slices/pulls and if you have cold winters there is no heaters like some ranges therefore you absolutely cannot use woods and irons are a bit iffy.

Unfortunately the back garden is a bit small and very closed in. :grumpy: the cold is bad sometimes but up until we have ice and snow I won't find it a problem, plus I've been eyeing up some all weather gloves (pair) for colder weather play.

Ahh okay well then the net is a good idea that you pictured. It's nice to be able to just hit a few balls when you feel like it to just get the feel of your swing.

Got back out on the course for the first time in about 2 weeks. Shot a disappointing 48 (9 holes), but there were some silver linings. I was hitting the driver fantastically, better than I ever have. I hit a 265 yard drive, and three that were around 240-250. All 4 drives were dead straight down the middle of the fairway, and made me feel badass :p

However, I shot myself in the foot on most of my approach shots. Over the green, short of the green, and my chipping was awful. 2 three putts, and some weak iron shots from the fairway. The worst was on the 460 yd par 5. I hit my best drive, roughly 265 yards, leaving me about 200 in. I shanked the ball 40 feet in front of me, and then put it over the green. So a possible eagle became a double bogey (on in 5, 2 putt). Urrgh.

Going out for a hit tomorrow, will be very good after coach fixed a few things on my swing and I'm starting to hit it further and drawing the ball as well.

Choked in my round today... :(

Started with two GiR pars, before holing second for eagle on #3. Up & down par on #4, then holed a 12-15ft putt for birdie on par 5 5th. So I'm -3 for the first time ever...

#6 is our 186m par three, bad chip leaves 15-18ft which I make for par... #7 is our par 4 390m 'hardest' on the card, sink 8ft for par.

#8 have a brain fart, twice, being too aggressive out of position off the tee I walk off with double bogey... #9 was a GiR par... so a 35 start... still going great...

Both # 10 & #11 were GiR pars with makeable 18-20ft birdie putts. #12 I hit 8 iron to a foot at most, birdie, back to -2.

Par 5 #13th overclubbed into green left with 40-45ft, hole a 6ft for par...

#14 386m par 4 dogleg left. Aweful drive, very good recovery, lift head for 3rd... another easy double, back to even with card.

4 holes remain, two bogeys means 74, new pb. I know it, and my swing is getting tight and quick...

#15 par 3, hook 6 iron off tee, get up & down with good 15ft par save.

#16 Low and straight doesn't run out, 5 iron to just off fringe, bad chip, easy bogey.

#17 Average drive, think I feel tailwind for second so change from 6 to 7, leave it 5m short, up and down par...

+1 with one hole to go...

(Spoiler: The next hole is not how one should play golf!!!)

Hit drive into GUR, free drop bounces nearer hole on to a great lie, redrop into scratchy yucky lie, attempt to hit rescue (instead of layup with a 5 or 6), pin hunt for third (not go for heart of the green) and dump it into bunker, on green for 4, 15-18ft, charge putt that just breaks and misses, goes 4-5ft by... head now being scrambled-eggs, miss comeback for tap-in 7, treble bogey.

Still gotta be happy with 76 for nett 66 though, looks like I'm back too course single figures now, index will drop to 8.8 or 8.9...

Well not as bad as me, had 6 over on the front and 9 over on the back with two doubles to finish and missing about 2 or 3 par putts on the back. Still finished with 39 points and I should go back down to 17.

ok guys time for the next clucb in the bag, im goingto a range on Friday with a view to test some drivers and buy one. I have vbeen looking at the

Taylormade R11

DWTM177_1Product.jpg

Callaway RAZA Hawk

DWCA114_1Product.jpg

have any of you guys had experiance with either club, I have head great things about the R11 and some good and bad things about the Hawk, namly the bottom of the Hawk if scuffed on hard ground can cause something to snap off and ruin the club, also weights inside the Hawk have been roumered to come off the inside the club causing a rattle and naffed club.

Well went again yesterday, played in a tournament. I finally put everything together in a round. It was a par 68 instead of a 72 however I shot an 83!

I could not believe it. I parred 4 holes in a row at one point. My putting was fantastic which is a rare thing and I won closest to the pin on one of the holes.

I hit the green in 1 on every par 3 on the course including a 169 yard hole and 181 yard hole. I'm still I'm shock that everything finally came together in one round. It's a lot of fun when you try to do something and it actually works. Anyway enough bragging I'm just, as I said, in shock and quite excited.

Honestly, don't go by my judgement as I've only hit my mates 3 wood. But the R11's feel really really pure if you get the right contact onto the ball.

If you do get this driver please tell me how it goes as I may buy this for a christmas present. I'm not getting the distance I used to on my R5 due to the angle being 10.5 degrees and probably will look for a 8.5-9.5 R11.

Will do,

Ive only hit a friends driver its nothing speacial I think its a Titleist, but its a real dog. Ive used it twice now but im hitting about 260/270 yards but the club is old and has a crack along the bottom of the clubface (dont ask :scared:).

I was looking at the new Adams Golf driver but the closes place for me to even possibly try and test it would be Ireland but im not do that. The R11 is the front runner at the moment as if I get the 10.5 driver it has adjustable sharf with 1.5 degrees of loft + and - so I can adjust the loft as I go and get it to 9 degree or 12 degree if needed. Im tempted to sell my new irons and get the burner 2.0's as I still have a personal niggle that I should have got these arons instead of the callaway ones. :dunce:

Well done CMvan46, any progress is good progress. You will find you may drop a shot here and there, then BAM, 3 or 4... until a point where finding a shot is real hard.

Sprite, I have only hit a couple of times with the R11 as I see no need in upgrading my R9 SuperTri currently, plus I have two different shafts to interchange. Another reason is aesthetically I don't like the look of it.

You prolly want to go with a 10* driver with the R11. It has a setting that de-lofts the club a degree, so if you're reducing to 7.5* or 8.5*, it's prolly going to be a setting you won't be able to use. At least with 10* it'll be reduced to a still manageable 9*.

Shafts are nearly more important than ANYTHING though so use a few to dial yourself in better.

Ugh, I played well a few weeks ago and my golf link didn't get updated. Soon to realise that the game we played a few weeks back didn't have include individual but had 2 ball best ball.

🤬.

Heh, it's looks like an ice cream on a stick

Wow a golf thread! I play golf a lot. Tomorrow I am going to be in a golf outing and I hope to do well. At my home course I average 80-82 for 18 and I play three to four times a week. Been playing since age 4! 👍

I use Adams Tight Lies woods and irons and have a Ping 5BZ putter that I've had for the last 15 years or so 👍

Best round ever is 74 at my home course 5 years ago. Never had a hole in one though.

Well guys I picked up an R11 today after hitting about 70 balls with that and the Callaway and the R11 just felt better, plus the adjustability of it is apealing.

Congratulations, would have been my pick too I'd think.

Love that club's looks:tup:
Was meant to be getting a burner superfast, but 🤬 knows what's happened to the idea about getting one of those for my birthday.

Frustrating, I've been working 6 days a week during school and I've had no time to golf. Just when I feel like I'm starting to improve.

Man that R11 looks awesome, going to hit a few balls up at the range and now I really have to try that out.

Yep indeed, its so light too, really helps get the club head whizzing through the air. you were correct in saying that when hit from the sweet spot it really sounds great aparently its quite a dull sound compared to other drivers and some have reported they dont like that, but if im honest i dont care as long as its splitting the fairway in two. Although it sound crazy when hit off the heel :dunce::scared:

Im not a big fan of the head cover its a bit of a tight fit. 👎 I would also recomend trying the Callaway Razar Hawk its also crazy light and feel great of the SwSp but the shiny black top really did refelct everything back at me and the matte white was really nice at address.

I will get some images up of the different looks of the club head when changed too this week.

Yeah, well regardless I'm going to go for the R11, the deal currently is if I buy a driver I can get a rescue or a fairway wood at half the price so yeah, probably will replace my 5 wood with a 3 or keep it the same.

Went on another tear this weekend...

Started on the par 4 10th and promptly rolled in a 15ft putt. (-1)

#11 Par 5, laid up then put a wedge to 12-15, downhill right to left, just missed low. Par (-1)

#12 Par 3, into wind hit 7 to 15-18ft, missed by about half inch, went 6 inch by. Par (-1)

#13 Par 5, big drive so went for green in two, slight draw with 3 iron, finished to the left of the green & greenside bunker on a bare dirt lie to tight pin. Made bogey (Sq)

#14 Par 4, our second hardest hole, good drive bad hook for second, lipped for par. Bogey (+1)

#15 Par 3, 8 iron to 18 inches, bird. (Sq)

#16 Par 4, decent drive, full wedge to 20ft, downhill right to left, holed. Bird (-1)

#17 Par 4, pushed drive, out of position trees between ball & green, tried to punch a 4 iron, got it too good rose too quick, just clipped a branch, dropped straight down. Hit wedge to 9 ft, lipped. Bogey (Sq)

#18 Par 4, dogleg left, hit draw to tight to dogleg, backswing impeeded by tree, punched 3 iron, just short of green, failed to get up & down, bogey (37, +1)

#1 Par 4, good drive, 9 iron to 8-10ft, didn't look like missing, bird. (Sq)

#2 Par 5, so so drive just off fairway on dodgey lie, play safe and hit real solid 5 iron, 80m short. Overcook a knockdown Sand Wedge out back of green, knock in 6ft putt for par (Sq)

#3 Par 4, short one... downwind... alot of trouble off tee so take rescue (as I always do, eagle last time remember), get it high on club so the wind gets it and pushes it right, where the OB is... hit provisional, duff it, luckily the first is still in but behind tree, tough shot to green but take it on, get a bad bounce short of green and bounces right... the one place you don't wanna go, take bogey after leaving putt 3 inches short. (+1)

#4 Par 3, bad hook off tee, take bogey (+2)

#5 Par 5, into wind, good drive, real good second, full SW to 15-18ft. A little downhill, but saw the line and rolled it in. Bird. My 5th in a round and that's a PB. (+1)

#6 Par 3, 186m, wind off left, hurting a touch. Hit 4 iron solid to 15-18ft, but a sizeable break, getable, but don't give it enough, plus hit it weak. Make 4ft for par. (+1)

#7 Par 4, hardest hole on course, bad drive hooked, hits tree and pops back out just short of start of fairway, only about 100m from tee... (thinking oh-oh been here before in choaking rounds), hit great 16* rescue 40m short of green, a little bump and run 9 iron (precentage play as opposed to aggressive SW or Lob) to 6ft, hole a left to right for par save. (+1)

Now back into a stiff breeze for both #8 (Stroke 3) & #9 (Stroke 9). Need to only drop one for my PB...

#8, good drive, still 135m to front with a pin 10m on, hit 5, should've hit 4 iron... short left, shortsided, just miss putt for tap-in bogey, missed opportunity... (+2)

#9, 349m, bunker left, trouble right in way of trees, hit it rightish... could still be ok with some luck, depends on how far it went. As I had used my luck up on #7, I'm dead. two choices are a chip sideways or try a near impossible forced hook with a window of 5ft. Let's just say I'm not Mickelson... I pull the ball 6 ft left of where I intended to go (something that normally happens when you try to force a draw). I'm still 120m out from front, into the wind. Pin 10 on. Go super aggressive and hit 6. Wind gets it and it finishes 25ft short. With nothing to lose I give the putt a chance but just sides by and runs on 5ft, a slider right to left about a cup and a half of break. Solid putt holed for 75 (+3).

Equalled my PB a our course of +3... so gotta be happy... 8.8 index will drop again.

Sounded like a good round.

Went out for a hit today after some huge rainfall yesterday, not a good idea.
Greens were so uneven and shaggy, course still had some mudpatches.

But I enjoyed it.

Well I've been selected for Encourage Shield again :)

Played our first match against Studley Park yesterday and man did we all have to give up shots. Guy I versed got 10 of me. I played pretty damn well so to speak, won the game 7 & 6.

The team won our match with 4 games to 1.

In other news I won a Bushnell Rangefinder a few weeks back, and man it's awesome!

Got myself a very cheap wedge today. £7.99 netted me this:

It looks a little scuffed because I hit a few balls today. For such a cheap make and cheap club it's pretty good.

Played 18 for the first time in a month yesterday. Shot an 85 with a couple of balls lost in the leaves  Hope to get at least 5 more full rounds in this year before it's too cold.
