thats funny , because the first time i heard about pikes peak and everyone was talking about it , i thought about this audi and what is good about it , then i realize its a track not a truck

3: Do you have any idea how much modeling, texturing, etc it would take to get pikes peak in Gran Turismo? It is about the distance of the Nurburgring! It would most definitely take away time from other, more worth while projects PD could be working on such as more cars, shorter and more famous tracks, and other minor details that need to be sorted out and are far more important than adding in Pikes Peak. You really need to think about this stuff before you decide to rage about it in a thread.

Are you kidding me? Pikes Peak is huge! I would think that there is simply not enough RAM in the PS3 to handle an entire GT5-detailed version of the track at once.

I thought Pikes Peak is just as long as the ring in Germany. Why can they do 14 or 15 miles track and Pikes Peak is, I think 13 or 14 miles.

i am reading all comment and everything and i just want to say 1 thing, me saying 10,000 downloads within the first week was just me throwing a reasonable number out there i would probably expect more along the lines of 50,000 in the first week though. and i realize cost but the must also consider the amount of fans that buy their games(and this also applies to PD). And they can just make the course during the event. because knowing sony they are at the event. but schwartz38 i can post what i want when i want as long as it isn't offensive or inappropriate to anyone. so all i say to your comment is just back off and relax.

While Pikes Peak is about the same distance as Nordschleife, you have to think about it 3 dimensionally.
While Nordschleife is long, it is essentially a circle, giving them less surface area to model. Pikes Peak looks like this:

All of this 13 miles will have to be modeled, as well as the surronunding area throughought the whole track (such as the mountainside), which ends up being significantly more modeling than the circular nurburgring.
Then you add in the fact that that there is a massive elevation change and you will have to see the entire bottom of course when you finish at the top, because the track will look unfinished if you can't. Then it all just becomes a massive RAM headache from here.

Nurburg being a circle dose not make it any easier to model. It's not like Tsukuba where the track is a route through a small area, there is a huge distance between both sides of the track. At the distances you are seeing land from, the distance will not have to be moddeled very highly, look at Eiger or Cape Ring for example.

On pikes peak it will. Just look at how much of it is barren with no trees (especially near the top). You can see for miles.

Nurburgring on the other had is surrounded by trees and therefore requires less RAM because you don't need to see as far.

Out of interest, how much of the track did they model for GT2? I don't remember it being as long as 13 miles, I seem to remember it just being the squiggly bit kind of in the middle on that course map.

He asked why Pikes peak wasn't in the game, and I gave him an answer to the best of my ability. In no way did I hint that he was "dumb." From my perspective, it looks like you're the one raging about me, sooo.... yea. Kind of hypocritical.

Second, I said that's ALMOST calling him dumb. "You really need to think about this stuff before you decide to rage about it in a thread." This statement could be looked at as implying that some MIGHT be dumb.

No. I said that because there wasn't a need for him to rage. He could've just asked "Why isn't Pikes Peak in GT5?" Instead he raged in all caps, implying that PD could just throw it in the game whenever they feel fit, which is not the case. I just said he should think about what goes into making a game or a part of a game. If he honestly did this, he wouldn't have had to rage. And if he really, really, really still couldn't understand the challenges PD would face whan making Pikes Peak, then, as I said at the beginning, he could just politely ask (sorry for the redundancy ).
