No, I'm not. But it is a contributing factor. The sooner a game pays off its development costs, the sooner the price comes down. That obviously takes more time that revenue is lost to piracy.
Prices are high because demand is high.
Personally, I don't have a problem with that. Does that mean I'm made of money? No. It means that I think I should reward the people who make games I like. That's incentive for them to make more.

Look at it this way: economy cars have a razor-thin profit margin, if they have one at all. In fact, the original Escort never directly made a profit for Ford (I can explain that if you wish). And exactly how often do we see cutting edge technology in economy cars? Almost never - except when it is trickled down from more expensive products that paid for its development.

The same is true with games. You want 1000 cars and 100 tracks in GT4? That ain't free. A lot of what pays for that kind of development is the profit from previous games.
And while your all screaming about this bit of piracy..... just dl a few more tunes on kazaa and chill out a bit. Then go browse for the company accounts of these software giants. And don't bleat on about the little guys being put out of business, they just get bought by their competitors or squeezed out of the market by the big guys.
...if they're lucky. That is the "little guys" dream - to come up with an idea good enough that you get an opportunity to sell out. But what if you can't afford to develop your band/game/whatever enough to sell it? Then a good idea is lost, or a good band dissolves, or whatever.

I've got no problem with game companies making as much money as they can. It benefits me in the long run as I've demonstrated.

But all of that is missing the point entirely. The fact remains that it's not ethical to pirate intellectual property. If I'm not willing to pay for it, then I don't get to play it. Simple as that.

.

Explain Halo which even now nearly after a year of its release it still bloody costs £45. My theory is that the longer a game stays popular the longer the price stays at £40 or £45 and its up to retail company e.g. Game and Virgin megastores, to put what price they want on the game. Games are purchased directly from a games companies with whatever that company has priced them and of course the retail companies buy their items in bulk

I can take this critisizm, this stuff just bounces off me like a brick wall I get worser comments on my thursday night pool

Halo is a "Microshaff" thing and we all know how they work all they want is money and more money that's why

he probably started the thread so other people like him could shar ther piracy times even though that is not good, it was never ment for criticicm but mayby it will not efect keeno but you( mile fine) out of respect should just stop critisising him. Or mayby you( keeno) should just start a new thread abought a whole new topic.

Mayby that would setle things a little ok you probably should it is probably for the best so people will stop bickering just try and see what will fold out for you ok thanx

  :)

You're still missing the whole ethical point.

Criticism is disrespectful?

I hate to sound like an echo, but if he didn't want the criticism, he shouldn't have made this thread, especially with its particular title. And since keeno is practically welcoming the criticism now, what's the point in standing up for him in that sense?

Got room for one more ?.. I'll bring beer...

so what if you bought a copy of a game, it is called a copy not a pirated copy. the only reason thy call it that is because the industry want's it to sound awfull.
besides there are software out there which allow you to mke copy of your ps2 games. in my case i have the copy all i do is rent burn and keep the copy for me, i'm not selling them or makin money out of these copies, then why not.
i understand lot of people put in a lot of time in making these games so they are getting hurt when we do that.
but why don't they drop the prices that way they would sell more, why is it that pc games are always less expensive than console games!!!:odd:
in my case i am into racing games, and i will pay whatever they ask for for a good racing game like gt3 but other games are not worth even 10 $.
in the states we can manage to pay 50$ for a new game even though to me it's a little bit over priced when it comes to the quality of the game you are buying, but in the u.k. for instance they pay 50 pounds for a game that's the equivilant of 75$!!!!
i think this is too much, don't you think:odd:

What do you mean i am the 100th person and you are posted as 101 when you posted i am very sorry but i am the 100th person:lol:   ;) ;) ;) :) :)
