PITS2.jpg

Welcome to the Project International Touring Series, a.k.a PITS. PITS 2 is the next evolution in the series as we move forward to Project Cars 2. However, there is more to this then just altering our league's name. Our existing format, carried over from Project Cars, will remain the primary framework we operate by for all weekly season races. As part of our goal of continuous improvement, we will be promoting more special events, enduro offerings, and setup shops for all who are apart of our community, and even those individuals who happen to just stop by. PITS 2 will continue to strive to be the series that offers the best place to race for serious drivers. Now "serious" doesn't translate to "fast", anyone and everyone of all skill levels are welcome in PITS 2. We use the term "serious drivers" because PITS 2 operates by a series of rules and regulations outlined below this post. All drivers actively participating in PITS 2 must obey these rules, and MUST remember this is a game and it is meant to be fun. This newest iteration of the league wants to continue to build on the great community we fostered during the era of Project Cars. We want PITS 2 to be a place where great memories are made on and off the track, by the wonderful people who make up this community. To all new drivers a hearty welcome to you from @Alex ONeill and @HazardLvL4, and to all returning drivers, we want to say thank you for your continued support of PITS. Look forward to racing will all of you on track in this new era of sim racing.

-PITS 2 Directors

Race Formats:

Mixed Series (4 Weeks)

  • Season will consist of 4 race nights with two (4) sprint nights.
  • Sprint Races: Two (2) - 45-minute timed races.
  • 10-minute break between sprint races.
  • Grid position for first sprint race and endurance races will be determined by 15-minute qualifying session prior to the start of the race.
  • Grid position for the second sprint race is determined by reverse finishing position from race one. (See Starting and Reverse Grid Procedure)
  • These will be run 4 consecutive weeks. All races
  • Pit stops are not required.
  • Drivers coming off and on pit road always stay on the correct side of the pit road line (DO NOT cross the solid line).
  • Race weather will be determined by using the actual weather for the real life location of the track on the day of the race as reported by www.wunderground.com. (We will not be running in snow conditions. If it is snowing in the actual race location we will consider that precipitation and will run a rain race.)
  • Tire wear will be set to Accelerated.
  • Damage - Off
  • If you get disconnected or decide to quit during a race you will get a DNF and finish last.
  • If more than one person quits or gets disconnected during a race, your finishing position will be determined by the number of laps completed.
  • Yellow Flag (Caution) - Once the clock reaches the 20 minute mark (45 min races) or 40 minute mark (90 min races) the 1st place driver upon crossing the start / finish line will slow to 60mph and wait until given the signal to restart the race. Everyone will run in single file. There will be no passing under the yellow flag except for the following - Lapped drivers will be given the chance to safely unlap themselves and will regroup, in order, at the back of the pack. Once the signal is given that we are ready to restart the race the 1st place driver will call the green and we will restart from a single file procession. Please see "Caution" spoiler for details.
Blancpain GT3 Series (5th week)
  • These races will be held the 5th week at the conclusion of the mixed season races.
  • Drivers will be able to pick any GT3 car and will run this car for the length of the series.
  • Series will consist of 8 races and will last the year.
  • 30 min qualifying
  • 90 min races
  • Actual tire wear
  • Full damage
  • Weather will be determined using www.wunderground.com
  • No mandatory pitstop
  • Your lowest scoring race, (1) will be dropped from your total points
Week 6 - Off week

Application Procedure

  • GTPlanet ID
  • PSN ID
  • Livery Choice
  • By submitting your application you agree to the GTP OLR along with following The Good Race craft Guide.
  • Only Complete driver applications per the above will be accepted for securing a spot in the series
Tuning regulations

  • This is a full tuning and full damage series.
  • As the goal for this series is to provide a clean, respectful and evenly matched car, all drivers are encouraged to share their tuning information with other drivers. This is to help foster a gentlemen’s agreement that we are all here to have a good time and enjoy a fun day of racing.
Yellow Flags (Caution)
  • We will have a caution period mid-race, 20 minutes into the race.
  • The leader will slow to 62mph once crossing the finish lish line after the time remaining clock hits 25 minutes or 40 minutes depending on the race length and will call out the yellow flag.
  • The pit lane will be closed during the caution period.
  • Lapped drivers will be allowed to pass the leaders and unlap themselves at race speed until they catch back up with the lead pack. Lapped drivers may not pass each other and must remain in the order they were in when the yellow flag was called.
  • The race will resume once it has been determined that all drivers have regrouped and will use the same starting procedure as the reverse start procedure, single file line.
Eligible Drivers
  • Each week we will list all active drivers in the Pre-Race report with the intent to have all Active Drivers that plans to race confirm their intent to race.
Race Day Schedule
  • On race day, all main event drivers are to be in the lobby by 8:25 Pm eastern.
  • Any driver that is not in the room by 8:25 Pm eastern will lose their spot to the next alternate
  • Exception to this rule is if you reach out to me via PM or PSN msg. that you are having issues and need a couple extra mins.
  • Alternates should remain on PSN and ready to join lobby if informed by the series director that they can join the main event.
  • This will be managed at the discretion of the Series Director. Please don't wait until the last minute to try and get in the lobby
  • Main Event Drivers not in the lobby by 8:30 pm run the risk of missing the first race. The qualifying/race will not be restarted once the qualification/race has started.
SPRINT RACES
  • 8:15 pm – 8:30 pm - Invites sent to confirmed drivers
  • 8:30 pm – 8:45 pm - Race 1 Qualifying (15 Min Qualification Mode)
  • 8:45 pm – 9:30 pm – Race 1 (45 Min Race)
  • 9:30 pm - 9:40 pm – 10-minute break between races
  • 9:40 pm – 10:25 pm - Race 2 (45 Min Race)
Endurance Races

  • 8:15 pm – 8:30 pm – Invites sent to confirmed drivers
  • 8:30 pm – 8:45 pm - Qualifying (15 Min Qualification Mode)
  • 8:45 pm – 10:15 pm – Endurance race (90 Min)

Starting and Reverse Grid Procedure

Sprint Races

* On both races, when the race starts we will run at a safe pace (around 62 mph / 100 kph)

  • Either series director or one designated by the series directors will call off the grid order
  • Everyone is to get in position when your called, failure to do this will result in being placed in the back
  • We will run single file.
  • We will go green when green is called by the lead driver as he crosses the Start / Finish line.
  • Weaving will be allowed but remember this is all saved and if you take someone out you will be placed in the back.
Endurance races

  • Endurance races will be a grid start.
Race Craft

  • We expect all drivers to follow the GTP OLR and pursue good race craft at all times.
  • If you're not sure what good race craft is, watch this video.
  • It can be summed up in one simple 'Golden Rule' of motorsports: It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free. If you don't agree with this rule or don't think it applies to you, this is not the series for you.
  • "Blue Flag" expectations can be found here.
  • Part time drivers will be allowed to re-apply to Active driver status at the start of the following season based on case by case request.
  • All drivers will refrain from doing donuts, burnouts, drifting, driving backwards/reverse or any other activity that would be a distraction to other drivers on the track during all practice sessions, Main Events, etc. until the race has completed.
  • Additionally, if you are going to park along the track edge to "watch" please make sure you are as far away from the racing surface as possible so as to no cause a distraction to other drivers.
  • In the event of an incident with other drivers during the race, do not discuss it via chat during the race or in the thread. Please either message the directors about the incident or discuss with the parties via PM. Repeat offences of this policy will result in being suspended for a minimum of 1 week.
  • Drivers are to continue to race and put their best effort the entire race night.
    • This is to ensure that drivers are not left out that would have otherwise raced if given the chance
    • Of course, real life situations occur from time to time as well as the random DC. This is not meant to penalize the occasional situation.
    • Continued repeat violation of this regulation will be managed at the discretion of the Series Director.

Sim Racing & Real-life Setup Tuning Videos:

Technical Bulletin:

Project Cars 2 Tyre Pressure & Temp Data: Hot Pressure & Temp. Targets

Casey Ringley - (Vehicle Technical Lead for Project Cars 2)

Temp. across the tire = 10 - 20 deg. F or 5 - 10 deg. C (Can be tuned via camber)

Overall Tire Temp:
Soft Comp = 70 - 85 deg. C (158 - 185 deg. F)
Hard Comp = 90 - 95 deg. C (194 - 204 deg. F)

Brake Temps:
Straights (Temp. should stabilize) = 300 deg. C
Hard braking max. temp. = 650 - 700 deg. C

Telemetry: (Travel)
When "Travel" flashes “Red” It means you are beginning to engage the bump stop, or getting to the limits of the suspension's movement.

Rough targets for the main tire groups:

Formula Cars (IndyCar, FX, FA, FR3.5): 1.7bar front / 1.45bar rear (24psi / 21psi) at road circuits. The Dallara IR-12 oval/speedway tires like up to 45psi on the right side.

Modern GT & LMP: ~1.8bar front and rear. Maybe down to 1.6bar for a very slow track like Long Beach or higher to 1.90-1.95bar at Le Mans to squeeze a little bit more off the rolling resistance.

Touring cars & V8 Supercar: 2.0-2.15bar front and rear

Ford Fusion Stock Car: 2.4-2.6bar front and rear for road courses. Ovals might go to 3.0bar+ (45-50psi) on the right side

Light sportscars (Radical, BAC, KTM, etc): ~1.6bar (24psi)

Road car tires: All in the 2.1-2.2bar (29-32psi) range hot. Any MotorTrend readers will know how much they stop every few laps and bleed pressure to hold that target during the BDC tests.

Vintage GT: Roughly the same range as modern GT

Vintage Group 6 & Formula: Bit more flexible here. Something in the 1.7bar (25psi) range is usually a good starting point up to 2.0bar (29psi) or down to 1.2bar (17psi) to adjust for balance on something wild like the Lotus 72D

I hope either I was doing something wrong or maybe was just a glitch last night because the install wasn't completely done, but I couldn't get the buttons to map on my Bluetooth keyboard for all the extra stuff like seat position etc. like on Pcars1,any ideas guys

Must be because the game was not fully downloaded I can map mine just fine. 👍 (I'm not sure about PS4 tho)

Hey Cards,

How are liking the new game?

I really like it the graphics are awesome, the HUD is a lot cleaner, the menu is a massive improvement. The driving itself feels a lot different than the first and the sense of speed isn't so intense but overall I really like the game.
