Anyone got a link to a decent concise written or youtube explanation of pitstop strategy and how to do them? I don't do long races much and when I need to pit, I find myself not knowing whether to press the button because I'm not sure if stuff is being done, and if I press the button it'll just skip refuelling and chuck me back onto the track with no fuel?

Hi, Try my way, works for me in 10 lap races, If your car & speed is good enough, hard tyres, run to lap 6 don't select new tyres, just enough fuel for the laps left, I normally run on max fuel saving 6. Give it a try. This is for dry race btw. Good luck, yes just click the button when you have enough fuel in tank and away you go. Youtube will have some advice if you search.

At a basic level you're pressing the button that says 'don't refuel' which is why you're just coming straight back out again.

When you enter pits you'll first be asked if you want to change tires, you have the tire options across the screen, and 'don't change tires' at the bottom. You'll need to select one of these options to continue.

After tires is refuelling, which starts automatically if you don't press to not refuel mentioned above. Once refuelling starts you'll see the meter filing up and you just need to press when you want them to stop (there's a diamond icon above the meter indicating how much fuel will get you to the end of the race) otherwise they will fill the tank and then you'll go.

Thats precisely what I wanted! Thanks!

When I hit "dont change tires", then it goes to the refuelling screen but it doesn't start filling for quite a while (I guess 5-10 seconds it just sits there) . thats when I get confused and think maybe I should be pressing something to hurry the process along. Do you know why there's a delay like that?

I've not noticed a delay but I'd have to watch the animation again, perhaps they're getting the hose in place and connecting?

Either way, at least you'll not be trigger happy with the button now mate.

Is that the delay whilst your waiting for the car to arrive?

When you enter the pit lane it takes you straight to the tire question (Whist the car is travelling to the bay), this stops you controlling the car so you can make the choices whilst the car is still getting to the bay. The delay is so you can get your tactics in order. The car arrives and the team carry out your orders

The delay is hillarious, you should still see the car while choosing the tires and so on, that would make it less confusing. Also the delay varries on the same track with same conditions and not just by 1 second, it can be a difference up to 10 seconds. I think, that is the time for the game to adjust the ai. I do not like the pitting in GT7. Not up to date in 2022. Get propper pitstops......

Me neither, well certainly not 10 seconds. Any delay will be as you say to connection and for the flow of fuel to start.
