Well most of the trailer was in replay, so that automatically makes it look better. But gt4 uses the same graphics in replays and gameplay, judging from gt4p. When you raced on the nurb, and looked at your replay, did it look like the nurb replay scenes in the trailer? Thxs for answering my questions.

They may have added more motioon blur in some scenes, the cars looked identical in thoes vids imo but the driver look fantastic and I think PD can manage to fit him into the final build of GT4.

Wonder if the cars will get dirty and give a reason to use the car wash to bring back the showroom shine.

I haven't seen the driver in the e3 build. I want to see the build pd didn't show. That build has the upgraded driver, right? I can't wait to see it and the pitcrew and the 3d crowds. Human element owns :D

Cars get dirty and lose their shine in GT3.

I'm all for the human element, but, this is a driving game, so I'm more concerned with the cars, tracks and physics. Things like spectators are extraneous, hell, just look at the French F1 GP last year.

There are helmetted drivers in the top-down cars. If you're talking about the driver sihouettes, then I didn't notice it (honestly, I wasn't looking for it).

As for watching/playing the rally track, I didn't see the car get dirty, so as far as I know, it's not in (whether there are plans to have that way are still a mystery to me). Oh, and an odd thing was that I saw someone take an NSX onto Grand Canyon - so it makes me wonder if they are planning on limiting cars per track usage.

It was hardly noticable in gt3 that cars were dirty.
Only when you washed them and they would glint and shine would you notice.

But with Gt4 having ultra shiney polished bodies reflecting the trackside deatils, I wondered if we would get a more noticable dirtying of cars.

Ididn't notice any dirt build up on the cars even the rally cars, one thing I do hope for is a cockpit or t-cam for the single seaters :D

Yeah, you can do that in Prologue, as well as the Ford GT, but the dirt-able cars are still limited (you can't put the McLaren on the dirt for example).

As far as I know, no one here talked about AI...

Is it better in the E3 GT4 demo, or is it still the same than GT3 ??

any news ?

In GT3 cars didnt get "dirty" they just lost there shine which in my opinion isnt the same as seeing actual dirt on the rally cars just say, but there car wash in GT3 did have a purpose, the whole aerodynamics thing, so after you wash your car it will get a little fast but when it gets "dull" it got a tad bit slower but I never noticed a change so oh well....

But yea how was the AI, and car physics in the demo at E3... any updates on that?

I kinda liked the permanent dirt on the Stratos Rally car in GT3. Gave it the broken in, serious rally racer type vibe.

The Stratos rally was in!

I gave up GT3 at about 50% it just bored me. Damn rubbish AI

Thats not true, people claimed it was that a polished car provided less wind resistance but it was all bollocks about it being in the game.

The AI cars were really easy to pass up if you drove "dirty." But they seemed to run a cleaner line when they are ahead - in my races, the front runners gained a lead while the mid pack ran a little slower due to close quarter racing (rubbing and such).

I ran Tsukuba in attempt to drift it (really hard for me) and came in second. I ran a clean run and came in first - with the second place AI being the only one to give me trouble and keep close. I got second place in Hong Kong on my first try (slightly dirty driving first lap, clean second). I stayed dead last on 1 lap of the Ring (my first run on that course - my other two tries were solo runs).

I haven't seen anyone other than an X-box journalist say it's a GT4 killer, but they said that about other games like GT2002 and PGR2.

Like, PGR2, Forza won't use the "kitchen sink approach," said Lee. We smile in agreement--it's a direct jab at Polyphony's 500+ car mentality. In this case, we really do side with Microsoft. Who wants 500 cars when less than a fifth of them are actually fun to drive? And we speak from experience, log onto Xbox Live with PGR2 or ToCA--most players stick with the Ultimate class, consisting of cars like the Ferrari Enzo, Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR, Pagani Zonda and Porsche 911 GT1. Admittedly, it is fun to give everyday cars like the S2000, WRX and even Mini Cooper S a go or some track-built rides, but we want break-neck speed and performance, not a Model T or solid rear axles.
This made me laugh, I can see his point, but if he doesn't understand why GT has all these cars and if he doesn't get the fact that people do actually want a lot the more everyday cars in GT, he isn't fit to comare another racer to a GT game. How can you knock the decision to include the Ford model T when you want the game to represent the history of the automobile.

When I play GT4 online I can't wait to take part in online Elise races and Mini Cooper cups. I wan't break-neck speed and performance, but I want quirky fun cars too and track cars and Kei cars like the Cappuccino as well as the big Yank muscle. This guy at IGN obviousely has no interest in diversity.

We might not get ferrari and porsche, but no word on Mclaren and Lambo not being in. And what about Koinegss(sp?) I can do with out 2 top car makers, aslong as we get alot of race cars.

I hope Koenigsegg:D is in, especially the new CCR. McLaren probably won't appear as a marque, I'm guessing only the BMW McLaren will be in, Lamborghini on the other hand might just make it.

LOL I slapped every employee at psm for mentioning false bs that I got excited about :( But like I said, I did slap some ppl :D Why would it be for Mclaren to get in? Code, how you like my sig?

lol, it's not really fair when mags do stuff like that tbh, they should print FACTS only, confirmed from the devs/ sony or with game play shots.

Writing this BS that they do sells mags to unsuspecting punters, they see a headline like "GT4 12 cars per race" and they think oh my god I have to read that, it sells mags and it generates hype that the mag can control. It won't stop but I do agree that it should be stopped.

I did manage to get some time in on a lot of the racers out there. Enthusia comes close to being on the same accurate feeling gameplay as GT4. The AI beat me in both races I drove, but it was wierd that I would catch up and then lose ground on both the straights and the corners. I think it will come close to the feel of the GT series, but they aren't "broadening their horizons." They are looking at the hardcore racer market - looking to exclude the people that say that the GT is "too hard." In that - they've probably got a customer in me. But when you look at the GT series - it draws EVEN those people that say that it's too difficult because of all the variety that they throw at you. GT is in the "it's got something for everyone" market and that's probably where and why it will do better than Enthusia.

Forza felt a touch more "arcadey." Forza's got a cool feature in their 3 screen mode and the car damage looks great (paint scraping off the car and onto the wall and eventual body damage), but it just didn't feel as tight as Enthusia or GT. Needless to say, it was fun to race, but there just isn't enough there (IMHO) to validate its "GT killer" moniker. With that said, I think it's the common ground between PGR and GT when it comes to realistic driving - so it's coming close to being probably the best racer on the X-box.

I also played other racing games:

Juiced - graphically, it's great - but they need to make it either more realistic or more arcadey. The driving was kind of slippery, but offered no control to drift properly. I'll wait and see...

WRC4 - I can't wait for this one. It seemed a tad too easy and slippery, but I loved the first WRC thanks largely due to the full license (minus McRae). I'm buying it...

Burnout 3 - The surprise of the show in terms of racing games. I had so much fun driving this game. The AI is tons more aggressive and the crash system was a blast. I'm buying it...

Colin McRae 05 - More of the same (but the demo didn't show any customization settings, so from what I saw, it was more of the same). I can't fault them there - if they're going to offer it at a $20 price point again, they'll get my money. I'm buying it...depending on the price...

OutRun 2 - Tons of arcade fun, drifting the sharp turns was a breeze. There was only one arcade mode open, but there is a promise of more play options. I'm buying it...

SRS - What can I say about this game...that hasn't already been said about NFS:Underground. I was amazed at the similarity between the two games. The graphics and gameplay were practically identical. What can make or break this game will be how polished and how playable drifting will be as well as what players will be able to do to their cars. I'll wait...
