I don't think Sony can reveal anything as bad as the XBOXone Betamax, unless they pull the covers off a highly stylized record player.

I'm sure Sony will keep to a nice modern design.

IGN's pre E3 poll results are in. See how Sony dominates Microsoft this early.

I guess we will have to wait until E3 to see if XBOXone can turn things around. I don't think just game announcements will help them. I think Sony would have to drop some bombs on us to get us to turn away from PS4.

I dont think that Sony will have that much new franchises for us at E3. Gran Turismo is on PS3. Metal Gear Solid, GTA, Final Fantasy are also on Microsoft consoles. Killzone and Infamous are not looking that interesting. Furthermore a new Little Big Planet or God of War would bore me to death.

Gamewise I think that Microsoft will show more and better stuff in my eyes. Sony never really surprised with their games. You saw it on their press conference this year, with all the dull game announcements.

Plus, Sony has also a limited time window. In which they have to show the new console and its features. Plus their marketing talk about the PS3, the Vita and so on. Lol, I expect less than 60 minutes will be about actual games.

For the one's prespective things can hardly get worse than it is now,E3 I am sure will lessen the negativety surrondering it.

As for Sony things can still go both ways.

Umm. MGSV: Phantom Pain and Final Fantasy are NOT on MS's console. They're on Playstation just like Gran Turismo 6, just saying...

That's a big hit for the PS3 if you ask me.

June 10th?
Just did some googling and turns out you're right. My bad. 👍

But it says June 10th-13th so I guess you could say we're both right..sorta.

Scratch that, it's June 11th-13th.

Scratch that again, the console reveal is on June 10th, E3 itself is June 11th-13th.

MS, Sony and Nintendo all need to have good showings as far as I'm concerned.

MS are riding on an overall negativity (from devs and gamers) when compared to Sony and even Nintendo, but that's their own fault. My opinion, MS will be fine in the long run, but between The One and PS4, MS really need to have the better showing at E3. Based off their history and current state, I doubt they will, but time will either prove me right or wrong. I'm hoping for the latter.

But the Sony conference is on June 10th 6pm PT/9pm ET.

(All press conferences are at that date)

Edited that in. I'm confused, it says "June 11th-13th" for the E3 event yet Sony's event is on the 10th.

Nevermind, I got it figured out now.

Yes, they all need to show some great games. Especially Nintendo. I actually wanted to buy a Wii U, but there are even less games than in the days of the PS3 release. Well maybe not, but it feels like it. And I dont think that Sony is already in a safe position. Their company is struggline globaly and they were not the smartest on the current gen.

Nobody will remember all this negativity after some months. Easy as that. And I wouldnt say that its Microsofts fault, but that is another story.

But you are right. No one of those three will get away with a bad presentation at E3. Nintendo has to show games, games, games. We already know that there will be a rich release line up for both the PS4 and the Xbox One. We just dont know yet, how interesting or new the first party titles will be.

My estimation for E3:

Nintendo with one foot in the grave, if there is not much new.
Microsoft will deliver.
Sony will either have a dull presenation or will show some new great stuff.

Don't know if you already heard, but Nintendo is not having their usual big presentation this year so don't expect any E3 stuff from them until they are on the E3 floor (and after that whatever they call it they are having instead).

However, expect some E3 games to be showing up at some Best Buy stores.

And of course you have proof to the contrary of the claim that costs have increased in recent years or just more opinion?

You mean how theres great tools for making the games and the games being only as big or even smaller than last gens games (in terms of levels and size etc).

Then there's the fact that a lot of games are sequels that mostly just copy and paste the gameplay from previous games. No new engine or anything needed, just slightly updated and tweaked. same for the graphics.

How about you try to show me with real concrete evidence that the games have gotten more expensive. Swallowing the bs from publishers is easy. Don't know why you would believe them though. Thats like believing in politics and that you actually have a choice and a vote that matters, lol.

Brilliant, make a claim and then expect someone else to disprove it.

Of course he doesn't. You don't need a to be a genius to work out making a game with the size and scope modern games have takes more time and effort than it did to make a PS1 game, which in turn took more time and effort than it did to make pong.

These highly detailed, huge polygon assets don't just make themselves you know Musolini.

Nah, it's like that scene out of terminator, you melt it down and it reforms itself.

Not to mention of course that games haven't got any more expensive, I remember N64 games being over £50. I've no issue in paying mid £30s for a game. But y'know, things were always better in the past.

You're the one claiming it's BS, not us, you show us proof games are just as easy to make as PS1 games.

You prove to us that making this:

Interesting just how wide of a berth that Microsoft gets in that scenario.

It is just my point of view. I think that for those people where Killzone, God of War, Uncharted, etc. matter way more, it will be a good show from Sony too. I wasnt so excited about the exclusive games from Sony this gen. On the PS2 it was another story for me. But now MGS and GTA are also on MS console.

I just felt that Sony went mostly with the safe route. Microsoft too, but they got me more interested.

What both desperatly need are some new innovative and frech franchises some new ips with new stories. I cant wait to see Quantum Break, because I loved Alan Wake. And Sony is also trying with games like Last of Us. But we also need some next gen titles.

Wow are you serious? So instead of picking ps2 games you even go back to ps1 games? why not be even smarter and show me an atari or nes game and say it's just as easy and cheap to make?

Back to my point, ps3 games have not grown compared to ps2 games. They are either the same size or even smaller than most ps2 games. They have tools for many of the object they use to make levels. In short they have the same size games but only in hd and with a slightly higher polygon count per object/character.

Even if the graphics are getting better, so are the tools to make the games. And like I said, the games have not grown in size if we are talking about actual game levels.

I'm pretty sure Uncharted 3 is longer than Crash: Twinsanity..

What do you mean size? Duration of the game or literal size of levels, etc?
The only thing I can think of that was bigger on PS2 is GTA IV when compared to GTA SA, and that'll be changing in 3 months. ;)

I wonder...

I wonder how serious you are.

But I'm dubious about it.

Because PS2 era games in a lot of cases weren't appreciably more complex than PSX era games. It wasn't until the current generation when development costs skyrocketed; because it wasn't until the current generation that the hardware was powerful enough to support an attempt at such high production values (or the expectation that they be there, which is admittedly somewhat the fault of the publishers in the first place).
