This is probably a stupid question but will there be a live stream of the event on E3's website or something? I won't be home so I won't be able to watch it on TV.

All the press conferences as far as I'm aware are being streamed in all the usual places (gaming websites) and also on Xbox and Playstation.com

There will be various streams ,don't worry 👍 .I'm sure Jordan will post some himself on the news page or you can catch Robin's E3 thread here as well.

Yeah, once the chat kicks off in there plenty of links to streams are usually posted.

Also Planetside 2 cross platform with PS4 and PC would never work. I mean you're welcome to try, I'd enjoy all the easy kills, but the DS4 will never be as fast or as accurate as a mouse.

Unless there's some USB mouse that's PS4 compatible, then the odds have suddenly become even :sly:

People forget that the PS3 could use a normal USB keyboard and mouse in games BUT the developers had to enable it. Unreal Tournament 3 was one of them.

The Counter Strike Global Offensive on PS3 can use both keyboard + mouse for gameplay, I don't see the reason why PS4 won't.

Problem is Sony doesn't enforce that all games must have keyboard and mouse support, and why would they.... then they wouldn't be able to flog you $50 controllers!

If the Move gets more accurate it might be a decent substitute.

I can just imagine that devolving into some crazy elimination.

"Hundreds will come, but only 40 will be chosen"

...I would buy one if they port planetside2 to PS4, I think SOE has the licence and ... the game itself, but that would probably never happen.
12 hours later ...
Well that was quick, but neema_t does have a point, a DS4 (no matter how refine it might be) is still no match to a keyboard and mouse, maybe balancing the input methods might help but is still pretty complicated to make both input methods even.

However Planetside2 is not all FPS shooting and I still think that cross-platform could make for bigger battles and really populated servers.

As for the 40 tickets thing, that's just irresponsible by Sony ... seriously, they should have made it an online contest or something, it might even get to the news if it gets bad.

Now is the time to clean up on the really good releases for the PS3, and most at really good prices.

My list includes;

The Last of Us (obviously ;)
Uncharted Series
Infamous Series

...and a few others, but those first.

Mass Effect Trilogy
God of War Complete Collection
Resistance Collection

some more ...

They should put up a giant tv outside and hand out some freebies to all attending. Even if it's just psn vouchers or something.

Hopefully SONY can maintain a constant stream. That PS4 announcement event was horrible.

What event were you watching? The PS4 event was quite good.

The "event" was fine. The "live" streaming feed was horrible. Streaming of the event after the fact was fine.

This is for people in the UK and only in the UK. Next time, just post the link without burying it in misleading text.

Are you sure? I can access the site no problem. Or, come the day of E3, will it say "not available in your country?"

I can access the site. Times are set for their time zones. I will just ignore the times they have listed and use it as another source if others fail.

The PS4 teaser video plays fine.

Welcome to the internet, which is surprisingly global.

Dave, dave, dave... How could you possibly overlook the time with the US flag right next to the one with the union jack? How?
How does it come that a countdown is timezone dependant?

Seriously dave, that was just super unnecessary to jump on gtone339. He only wanted to help you.

I'm really grumpy right now. Posting the raw link would've sufficed and I wouldn't have said a word or even thought about commenting.

GTone339, I'm sorry for jumping down your throat.

At least you've noticed it that it's global right? ;) 👍

All good, next week is spectacular. :)

Here is something that may or may not have escaped your notice. Kotaku (via Maxconsole) had a quote from Shuhei Yoshida back in February, saying something along the lines of this:

Maxconsole
At a roundtable this morning, Sony's game studios chief, Shuhei Yoshida, told reporters that any requirement for users to register a game online in order to play it would be left to game publishers. Sony won't require that.
(emphasis added)

It escaped notice until last week when the site suddenly apologized for not having a gem of a news story on its hands. So what does that quote mean? That means that Yoshida has already confirmed that there wouldn't be any used game shenanigans on the PS4.

It also means something else too. It also makes clear that there won't be any first party support for those publishers who wish to DRM PS4 titles. Quoting Cinemablend:

Anyway, this already makes it clear that if publishers want to DRM-up the PS4 they'll have to use third-party means to do so, which actually has nothing to do with the PS4 or Sony (e.g., sort of like how Ubisoft uses Uplay DRM for games on Steam...
(emphasis added)

Good news at last in the DRM war?

Not wanting to be the tin foil hat brigade, but this rules out ONLINE methods of DRM. There are potentially other ways of doing DRM, online is just generally the cheapest and easiest.

What if they have a one time writable block on a disc, that writes a unique code according to the machine the game is installed on? Then the game can no longer be installed on other machines. That's just the first thing that popped into my mind, I'm sure there are people who work on DRM professionally that have much cleverer ideas than that.

I'm not saying this is the case. But I don't think it's wise to assume that there is no DRM based on a single vague statement. There's lots of unpleasant stuff they could do without violating that one statement.

That was pretty much business as usual this gen(before EA got greedy). Was I saying that there wouldn't be any DRM on the PS4? No, but this pretty much rules out any online pass garbage on the PS4, and in addition, Sony won't support any efforts to bring that rubbish back.

I guess that for this reason why EA decided to support XBO by offering exclusive content on their sports titles, a genre that should have equal content across platforms.

Ehm no, what let's you think this?

You can't simply use a normal blueray (reader) drive as burner.

Or do I misunderstand you and you simply mean that every disc comes from factory with a unique code? Well, that's very much possible and practicable.
