I will take a blue controller with a blue PS4, thank you very much!

PS. DriveClub not so much! Will need a demo to make sure though.

Being a Plus member, we will have one! It will probably be like GT5 Prologue.

DC will be free with PS+. I think only few cars or 1-2 tracks will be available though

Those colored controllers look awful. Why bother doing it if you aren't going to change any of the colors besides the one part of the shell?

Presumably another paint-by-numbers Ridge Racer title would have been so much better.

I am sure there will be option of different color PS4 in future. People only interested in more controllers can get colored one. This fan made PS4 looks great http://www.weseeinpixels.com/ps4-colour/

Driveclub is nice game for few hours a least, it's not big block buster game like GT5 or Shift 2 once were.

Any color from black looks awful. Black is the way to go. or Grey at least like PSOne had.

In your opinion. I love my white DS3, and the blue ones look pretty nice too. Black ones are fine, but EVERYTHING is black these days. My desk covered with electronics looks like a gothic wet dream.

I could do without the weird two tone thing going on with the DS4, and with them making the touch pad the same colour as the body, but other colours are excellent.

If nothing else, varied colours helps me keep track of which pad I'm wearing the battery down on and which one I'm charging up.

Meh, kinda wish the blue was darker. That shade just doesn't look right to me in that finish (same with the Red). If it were metallic, it would work better. If they do come out with a darker shade, then yeah I'll grab one.

I really liked the red DS4 controller, and a bit the blue one... But i'll get the black color PS4 (even if there is other colors).

I had the impression that it would be almost the full game, so far more than GT5:P with only a few cars and tracks missing rather than the other way around. Definitely more than a simple demo.

I suppose we won't know for definite until release though. As for the playability length in terms of hours - that would rather depend on the player, I'd have thought. Some it will appeal to, others not so much maybe.

It's always been this way.

Yes but £35-£40 for the PS3 is better than the £45-£50 for the next gen, hopefully they'll drop back down after a while. Games being less than £30 at release would be nice but that is probably never going to happen.

I'm not suggesting anyone should preorder games for a console that isn't even out yet, but you can already get them for under £40. Here's a list of some (probably expired) deals: http://savygamer.co.uk/?s=ps4&submit=Ok so if you kept your eye out I'm sure you'd find something.

Wasn't there a confirmation from Sony stating that PS4 games would be the same price as PS3 games, so £40 in the case of the UK.

I know quite a few recent PS3 titles are going for £30 right now, in fact GT6 is £35 but that's apparently just an end of lifecycle thing, or something to keep folks interested in PS3.

Sony said that first-party games would have the same RRP as this generation. Third-party games I expect to go up a little though.

Some websites have the games priced from £40 to £45, on others they are priced at £45 to £60.
Usually major supermarkets (in the UK) undercut the RRP by about £3 to £7. I got my copy of GT5 for £35.00 in 2010.

True, though I think closer to the release time the prices will drop as those prices have been up for months.

Ah yes, it was first party games.

:) That's funny. And also sadly true. Xbox One and PS4 Both are in Black. Apple had balls to make our world more colorfully, why then Sony and Microsoft are so stubborn.

Sony, had some bigger balls please, you already had courage to paint Dualshock 4, c'mon man!!! Paint PS4 too 👍:sly:

What have Apple made that's colourful?
White isn't really a colour?

My gamescom impression:

DualShock4: Definitely an improvement over the DS3. Liked the feel of it from the very first second, although I still prefer the Xboxone pad, mainly because of the Sticklayout (left stick/ D-pad) and the RT/LT rumble effects ( worked really great with Forza5) Overall: great job, can't complain.

Driveclub:: Better than expected, liked the gameplay and grafics, as a nice sim touch to it. Can't say anything about the longterm motivation etc, but the gameplay was good, so there is a lot of potential.

Assassin's Creed 4: I don't know, ok I guess. Didn't really enjoy it, but that's just my personal opinion.

I also played War thunder, I don't know, the visuals were kinda underwhelming. Won't comment on the gameplay, I'm more an Ace Combat guy.

Didn't have a chance to play Killzone, although I think it wasn't playable for the general public, only demo play by the developers (?).

Summary: Nothing really negative about the PS4 itsself, although "nextgen" isn't that spectacular this time around. Having played COD ghosts on Xbone felt like XB360 after 2 minutes. Sure there were some nice particle and lighting effects here and there, but other than that.

I would have preferred a higher hardware price and more power instead. Like putting in an extra 200 bucks into it. Like maybe 16Gb ram, a better grafics card and better processor. Anyway, solid hardware nevertheless and of course a major upgrade over the current gen. Don't expect to be blown away though. Maybe that'll change with second generation of games...

Going back to those PS4 colours, the white one is gorgeous. Would be even better if it was available completely matte instead of having a shiny panel.

I much prefer gadgets being white rather than black, e.g DS3, ipod, laptops etc. The only things I don't like in white are T.V's

On another note, has anyone used the touchpad keyboard feature yet??? It seems to me it would be a real pain in the arse, but perhaps someone could tell me otherwise?

I take it you weren't alive when the iMac and iBooks first came out, then? Practically the first computers that weren't beige, white or black that sold well. Astonishingly well, actually.

To the part in bold. Uhm... Why? I can't recall even a single PC game using more than 4gb RAM, and even then, those games could be optimized to use less.

Well, in 2013 8GB is enough, as were 512MB in 2005. Let's talk again in 2018 or maybe even 2020 when the PS4/Xbone are still around without even a rumour regarding their successors.
Ram probably is the least issue,CPU, GPU etc are not really futureproof imo.
I mean, the GPU is said to be the equivalent of a 150$/€ pc gpu. 150 street value, production costs probably less than 80 bucks I guess.
So in my book, upgrading the GPU to card that retails at 300$ shouldn't increase the price of the PS4 by more than 100$, since the PS4 hardware can be sold at production costs.
And that goes for every component out there, so by increasing the retail price of the console by 200$ you might be able to put in hardware for probably 500$ (retail price pc components) and therefor also both increase the wow-factor at launch as well as the longevity of the consoles.

399$ is a wise business decision though, don't get me worng there. But the core gamer in me doesn't like it. I'd prefer more power, and no, that doesn't mean that I should buy a gaming pc, because I like my console games. No Gran Turismo, No Forza 5, no Journey, no Heavy rain, no last of us, no Uncharted, no Wipeout, no Killzone etc on PC, so no thanks...

You have to remember that RAM is just space for data. The GPU and CPU have to be able to work and render it. A PS3/360 or 5770 graphics card won't gain power if you put 16gb of unified ram or 16gb of video memory on there, neither would a GTX Titan.

All ram needs to be is fast enough and have the space for what the GPU can render. Any more would be a waste of money and any less would be a travesty.

PC games are made in 32bit, for the system side, this means 2GB of system ram. You can hack some games to be Large address aware for more than 2gb but this is not done often.

The average high end PC game will use 1-1.5gb of system ram and 2gb of video ram. Consoles like the PS4 and One have the memory unified into one and reports suggest a pool of ram for devs of around 5-6gb. Crysis 3 on ultra uses at 1080p uses 3.3gb ram in total across the system and graphics card.

Seems to me they have enough for the system power as well as running other programs in the background like skype, game recording.

As for the wanting of better specs, yes it would be great but Mark Cerny said recently about the PS4 is that the power consumption is less at launch than the PS3 at launch.

PS3 and 360 went for higher spec, higher power consumption parts than PS4/One at the time in 2005/06 but weren't up to cooling these long term, the BGA on the chips would crack, hence the RROD YLOD for many early systems.

Both systems cut the power consumption down by around a 100w which leads to more reliable and quieter machines. Seems they don't want to go down that road again.

No I was alive alright.
I never really noticed them.
Of course now these tablets etc have colour,I thought they were covers that's all,my bad, sorry ussr.
When I think of apple,I think white and too expensive.
