Wonder how much power the PS4 uses during sleep mode (If any).If it uses very little to none guess there would be no reason to shut it down.

The Super Slims go into a sleep mode. Every day mine kicks on and checks for updates around 4am, great perk of being a Plus member. The only way to prevent it is to unplug it, or disable that function.

I wonder if that means the PS4 is always in a higher power state, or if that is something you can turn off to get it to draw less power when not in use (as you could with the PS3 and Remote Play).

Well it'll have to be a higher power state than being properly off, it would have to have enough power to maintain a wi-fi connection so it would know when to 'turn on' to start downloading whatever you've bought.

It'll use a fair bit if you can't switch off the ability mentioned above, but even if you can turn that off it'll have to use a little to keep the RAM alive so the resume feature can work properly. Unless, that is, the contents of RAM are written to a non-volatile storage when you power down.

PS4 doesn't have power OFF switch at the back like old ps3 FAT had, it was also terminated in ps3 slim version.

But there is external power OFF switch you can but and use with PS4. You simply put this inside power supply slot, and inside this switch you pot power supply cord.

Works great for someone who doesn't use this kind of thing.

Wait So it only has Sleep mode? Not saying off as in the button at the back of the Fat PS3 meant it like when you turn it off amd power button turns red, won't be in both cases shut down?(won't consume power?),guessing the Super slim doesn't completely shut down like the PS4 but like neema said it probably will still consume little power to be able to resume Play and downloads.

About one watt, otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to sell them.

Or did the IEA already set the 0.5W limit? I'm not sure... It was expected to come this year.

Won't really be a problem in the UK because all wall sockets have an on/off switch. Considering all the other stuff on standby I wouldn't think the PS4 would contribute much even if you did leave it plugged in.

I find it quite hilarious that the guy in-charge at the company who's system is struggling with sales is the one doing the trash talking.

Even worse fans want him as a character in the next instalment of super smash bros. Lame

On one hand, that's the worst idea ever. Like anyone would want to play as him. But on the other hand, you get to kick his ass every day. That is one upside I see to this :sly:

Sony detail Gaikai plans - Launching next year first on PS4 in US, coming to PS3 also.

Thesixthaxis
In an interview with EDGE Online, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s CEO Jim Ryan has explained the Gaikai situation, stating that it will launch at first in North America in 2014 on PS4, before heading to Vita and even PS3.

He said, speaking about why Gaikai wasn’t talked about during Sony’s Gamescom conference:

Yeah sure and I’ll tell you why is wasn’t touched upon last night. So the plan is to begin with North America next year and the plan is to provide a streaming service that will allow for PS3 content initially to be streamed to firstly PS4 then PS Vita and then PS3.

Ryan went on to say “that will happen in 2014 in North America initially” before highlighting the poor broadband speeds in Europe, which he says is “on the roadmap” for Gaikai, though they don’t quite have a timeline for it yet. Since Gamescom is for primarily the European audience, that’s why it wasn’t mentioned during the conference.

He followed up that “there’s just a few bumps along the road that need to be ironed out” in regards to the European launch and that while it’ll be “early-ish” 2014 for the US, he has “nothing to say yet” on a date for Europe.

Does PS4 comes with Vertical Stand in the box? Or should i look for it separately ?

Just read it it comes in Europe separately and it will cost 16 euros, not good news but i have better.

Both Sony wireless head sets : CECHYA-0086 Pulse and CECHYA-0080 will WORK WITH ps4 !!! 👍

I've got CECHYA-0080 and they work great , uff i'm so happy that i wouldn't have too use those small headphones connected to my DualShock controller with something called wire. :yuck:

I don't understand how a bit of plastic can cost so much. I will need to get one as I only have enough space to stand it up( Will have plenty of ventilation but it will be sharing a shelve with a PS3 and 2)

Dude that's awesome, Mine too :) I have space to put it horizontally but i rather make new space for them on one shelve. 👍

I have two PS2's vertically on stands next to each other, my PS3 is horizontal because I think it looks better that way and I kinda feel the PS4 is more of a horizontal look also.

Going to need more space

I'm going to preorder 2 games for the PS4. But I'm torn between Driveclub and NFS: Rivals.

What would you guys go for? I'm leaning toward NFS at the moment.

Purely for the fact that Drive Club will be given to PS+ members at some point, I'd say NFS myself. What's the other game?

Go for NFS, since there's a free PS+ code in the box you get Driveclub for 30 days.

I'm personally getting Killzone Shadow Fall and NFS Rivals when I get my PS4, which won't be at launch as Sony halted pre-orders. :ouch:

I've still ordered mine thru Amazon. I reckon I'll get it shortly after launch. Mines going to be a combined 21st birthday and Xmas present so I doubt I'd get it until Xmas anyway.
