I bet you're going to use DDR3 ram. Ram is not equal ram!

GDDR3 ram has nothing to do with ddr3 ram, it's actually based on older ddr2 ram. The DDR3 equivalent of graphics double data rate ram is GDDR4 and GDDR5, although GDDR4 wasn't successful and got replaced by GDDR5 within one year.
Anyway, the differences between DDR2 and DDR3 modules or based modules is huge! The fastest on the regular market avaible DDR2 modules were running at about 600MHz, whereas you can already get DDR3 modules at 1200MHz (DDR3-2400) for an affordable price, the fastest modules even hit 1400MHz (DDR3-2800) (too expensive though).

GDDR5 is another story though, much higher clocks nowadays.

Ah sorry, I should have read your first post more carefully. I thought you were talking about DDR ram rather than GDDR ram. My bad. Thanks for explaining though!
 
The PS4 can play second hand games no problems? No added fees etc? Is that right?
 
Well, it looks like the XBOX One is a massive flop already. I have spoken to a die hard MS fanboy at work, an even he admits the future is looking grim.

Looks like Sony has this in the bag.

What turns him off the XBOX? If you don't mind my asking. I'm still undecided, until a lot more is known about both systems.

I don't think either has it in the bag, from what I have seen there isn't much outside of both being new to really draw customers in. I could easily see both consoles flopping.

MS isn't paving the way any more than Sony is. BOTH have to agree on terms with the big multiplatform publishers/developers. To me EA dropped their online pass code and I doubt it highly it was because they'd get more money from just MS. Sony at their presser danced around the question and did not confirm nor deny it, instead passed it on to the dev if they wanted.

Well, from what he has told me, because I haven't been keeping up. The technical abilities are not up to what Sony have. Apparently it HAS to be online, even to play single player. Also, you may not be able to play used games, this is something I have heard previous and didn't believe will happen, although it looks increasingly more likely. And the console looks like crap.

As I have said, I haven't been keeping up, so this may all be pie in the sky.

I can't see either properly flopping, but as far as I have heard, the MS One isn't doing itself any favours.

That is exactly what Sony should not do,focus on every thing that the X-BOX one will do wrong and do the opposite.

Added fees for used games?buy our console we don't have such a thing
you can play online for free
you don't have to be online everyday

etc etc.Doing these will help push the PS4 to be to the consoles that sells better.

There is nothing more I need to see. I'm sure the games will be great but dropping cash on this isn't for me. The console format is very unattractive. I'm no fan of Xbox live. PS+ is already better for me as they give me free games to play as long as I'm subscribed. The Kinect is a turn off, the controller is the same at the core. The DS4's touch pad as standard is more practical to me than kinect

Self publishing means lots of smaller games with a price set by the developer and not a publisher
Paid early access to beta's similar to what Arma 3 on PC has.
Remote play. I can play my PS4 games anywhere over my fast 4G. Thats big.

These are just what I know of PS4 and it has me sold already.

Ah I see, nice to see what a MS fanboy is thinking. Although a lot of that could end up on PS4 too. Those reasons need clarification. Luckily E3 should clear up this nonsense.

This is my worry. A lot of the concerns about the Xbone are things we just don't know at all about the PS4.

We could be stuck between a rock and an exam on the fundamental physics of space/time.

The goal is to allow every PS4 game to play on the vita remotely. I'm sure there will be some exceptions, but you never know. I recently had a conversation about this on another forum. I don't really have an interest in the VITA, but if it is actually possible for me to remote play PS4 games while I'm on the train to work, then I'm sold. I doubt it will work like that though.

I'm not so sure. While the Xbox's tv guff will certainly add to the price, Sony have opted for more expensive ram. I'm sure both will announce prices at e3. It wouldn't surprise me if one company goes into e3 with some leeway on the pricing.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm pretty much already sold on the PS4. The only reservation I have is region locking for games. My ps3 game collection consists of a mixture of NA, EU and JP region games. Sure, the PS4 will be a fresh start but if the system is region locked, I will have to do quite a bit of thinking. Most import games you find in Japan are NA region games. I do plan on immigrating to Canada, so a NA console would be a safe bet if the consoles were region locked. However, I'm from the UK and as much as I would hate to go back there, it's the only country I have legal permanent residence in as of now.

I know... First world problems. I see no real reason for region locking in this day and age and it would be a bad move after the region free PS3.
 
I'd be surprised if the PS4 was region locked after the Vita still wasn't; and the PS4 already is confirmed to allow multiple accounts so the issues with the Vita's region stuff shouldn't apply.

My reasoning was because they're going to include Kinect...
 
PS4 looking good regarding development environment, already at a more mature stage than Xbox One currently.

Anyway it is strange to see articles thinking PS4 as just a games machine and Xbox One will do well as it does other stuff. Gaming does seem main focus regarding PS4 which is a good thing as it's meant to be a games console. However regarding other stuff, Sony have been doing live TV in PSX and then through add-ons for PS3 such as PlayTV and Nasne. Similar thing to what Xbox One is doing is Sony's Google TV device, Microsoft predicted this feature to be in next Playstation so will be interesting to see if Sony will include all functionalities of its Google TV box into the PS4.

PS4 confirmed for the UK (and presumably Europe as a whole) in 2013. No delay to 2014 as rumoured and feared by some.
