I didn't hear anything of the kind.

They said PS+ memberships would carry over from PS3 and PS+ would get exclusive free things every month. But I never heard them say you need PS+ to play online.

That's the problem imo, everything before that was 110% clear, this wasn't.

Watch Dogs looks novel, but I've not seen anything else to excite me into Next-Gen console ownership yet. "We're not going to be as evil as MS" isn't a plus point - it's what should be the default!

"Online multiplayer requires plus membership", is what says on the foot-mark of the big finger to MS video.

It's also worth noting that on Xbox you'll be able to trade a digital download whereas you won't on PS4. Not that I think Xbox's setup is any better.

Exactly. This is what I thought when I heard the crowd screaming. It's not like you can't share games on XB1. It's up to the publisher to block used games also.
 
So we just need a killer price and it's a done deal. Although to be honest even at the same price PS4 is still the obvious choice.

what a change we're going through. Having said all that though, I'm very pleased with Sony and what they're doing. bring on the next gen.

It was more a celebratory "screw what the other guys are doing" cheering rather than celebrating the feature itself.
