I'm not talking about smart TV's. Whether you are using an antenna cable or a box from your TV provider, you already have access to TV channels. There is no point in adding this capability to consoles. It's redundant.

Now of course, Microsoft and Sony would then make some exclusives deals for exclusive TV content, which would then be availible in the US, and a few other places. Guess what, these things almost NEVER make it to Denmark. Thus I don't want to see them waste time on it. Everything doesn't need to do everything. It's pointless. Or at least to me it's pointless.

Aparently, having that opinion means I have to get over myself (of all the idiotic arguements I've ever heard, that one takes the cake for being dumbest.). I'm aware that you (Tornado) did not say that, but I just had to get that out there.

Sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder about TV being provided through consoles.
Yes your opinion is your opinion but it is very strange and somewhat ignorant one at that.
TV has no place on games consoles.

You have a problem with TV on consoles because you can't get it where you live?
Therefore TV has no place on games consoles?
 
Jawehawk, do you feel Sony or Microsoft spending money on deals with tv/streaming service is redundant because it almost always will be exclusive to the US and you do not benefit a single bit from this as you do not live in the US, correct?

If so, I absolutely agree with you on this.

The only streaming service on my PS3 is Youtube. If you can even consider that a streaming service as it's free. As much as I like to have them, there's no Netflix, no Crunchyroll, etc... "not available in your country". :grumpy:

I guess we just have to deal with it now huh.

So Sony should cater the PS4 to a country with 5.6 million people? Most of whom probably couldn't care less about the PS4?

I got news for you. The European market, most of which won't get any of the TV stuff advertised for the One and possible PS4, is far larger than the US. The US is not the only large market out there. In fact, you aren't even the biggest. I want E3's and similiar events to focus on the worldwide market. I don't want to see them grow into events similair to the One reveal event which was focused on the US. If TV features becomes a minstay on the PS4, I fear this could very well be the case.

And once again. It doesn't actually add anything. You can already watch TV via your TV and TV box/antenna cable. There is in my opinion no reason to add this feature to consoles.

Did it ever occur to you that I was using the U.S. as an example because that's the only market I have any real experience with?💡

I realize that the U.S. isn't the biggest market, I also realize I know next to nothing on how European TV packages work.

Just because you don't see the point in it doesn't mean nobody does. I personally have no use for the music playback on either the 360 or PS3, yet I understand why it's there and why someone would want to use it.

And they are completely entitled to that opinion. I certainly won't tell them to get over themselves for having that opinion. Nor would I call them ignorant for wanting a feature that I personally don't want. All I give is my opinion on the matter. So again. My opinion is that stuff like TV has no business being on consoles.

And what difference does it make to you for not wanting this feature when by your previous posts,you are unlikely to receive the service?

I buy it to play video games and most will. This internet TV can be used by everyone in the house. PS3 is in my room and I only use it. But watching blu-ray or pics is not bad options. I would like video game programs and cartoons, sports. However that is not too important. They just want to have variety so that people can see lot of value with it and also subscribe to PS+

Yep I use it mostly for games and the extra features make it an all round system that caters for most entertainment purposes.
 
Most of the Asian markets ( China and South East Asia ) would not really care about TV services, in general they usually use local TV services or paid subscription that is cheaper than using Sony's service and offers a lot more channels.

I think very few console owners in Asian region uses TV feature, and we are not even talking about eastern europe, middle east, southern america and australia + pacific. Seems to me, tv is mainly for north american markets, and some of western europe. TV feature seems to be Sony catering for the lesser market :)

KennyLmao situation is what most Sony's console owners have - the majority, even if on other region do offer TV services on a console, I doubt it will be cheaper than the typical offering from local cable provider. And most who are interested in it, will likely already have subscribed :)

Well wait.

We don't have exactly the same TV's. So Samsung, sony's panasonic and other TV when you connect them to your routher they give you access to some of web tv programs available only in your country.

But when you connect ps4 to routher than there is one and the same service. That's good. 👍

I will setup mine PS4 only for games, and that's it. I don't watch TV there is nothing there except lies so why do i want to my PS4 lie to me? :crazy:

My house has 4 tv's,4 cable box's,3 laptops,3 Ipads 3 PS3's and 4 cell phones.I'm pretty sure anyone can watch TV on one of those devices as opposed to watching it on a PS4.
It makes no sense to want to use a service on the PS4 that I can watch on regular cable that I already pay for.I have 500 channels of crap on tv that is as useless as tit's on a bull anyway so 6 more channels are not a tipping point.

It seems PS4's TV features are no different than any other app gateway. You can just not use it and it will never rear its head.

Xbox One has TV features at the hardware and Operating system level. And all require a fee to access. You can't escape it on Xbox, it's going to be littered with TV ads to get you to use them.

My house has zero TVs. It has one PC monitor which is connected to the PS3 (and will be connected to the PS4).

Any TV through the Playstation will be more than I get now.
 
We have just the one TV screen which isn't actually connected to any provider or TV socket - it's just for the PS2/3 and the WiiU.

I admit to finding the film channels handy but most stuff we watch is on DVD anyway - any TV channels available will be superfluous for us. Though I do appreciate that others might want the functionality to some degree, too much focus in the Home Entertainment Centre direction might well cause some operational conflicts. Didn't one of the Xbox members mention the XboxOne presentation confusing his 360's Kinect. Lastly, TV isn't why I bought a gaming console.
 
Hate that the US gets it 14 days before us. But none the less, good show. Hosts were rather dull though. Where's the life that we saw at E3?
 
Okay Conference. Terrible Director (all the cutting Direct Feed). Europeans getting the console two weeks after us in NA. Not as happy as I thought I would be.
 
So the story of it being 3 hours was false.

Ok conference. Not as great as E3.

Game I am most looking forward to to be honest is War Thunder but then I love it on the PC as well so I was always going to look forward to it.

Going to buy one. Might not be at launch as I am going to university and will likely be tight on cash but I will buy one.
