What is your controller scheme?

I use the wheel sometimes, and other times the controller. I have a wireless battery controller made by MadCatz, and I love it. My control scheme is R2 for accel, L2 for brake, and D-Pad for steering.

What is your controller scheme?
 
I thought there was going to be a Poll. I was interested in seeing some results on this...

BTW analog sticks are the way to go IMO. I was using the D-Pad for years up until the new version

I used the left stick for steering and right for throttle.
However I switched to the HKS Controller after Christmas!!!
 
Left Analog Steering, R2 and L2 Throttle

Has served me well since I got used to it playing GTA IV. Didnt play GT5:P at all. Didnt have a PS3 then
 
DS3 - Left analog; steering, right analog; accel/brake

Been using the same control setup pretty much since the analog sticks came about, mid-PS reign.. So pretty much since GT1/GT2... hasn't changed since :)

Left Analog Steering, R2 and L2 Throttle but will buy Logitech DFGT soon :) (as soon as it is available again) ...

Thanks! I had been wondering what people used for a while now, and I think the poll options cover almost every setup people use. :)

Yeah man, great idea!! Thanks! Now we can graphically plot out, who uses what!? Such a simple thought, yet no one has yet to ask the same question before.... :lol: that's crazy! Cheers to you mate! 👍
 
hahaha wtf is that? anyways I use Left Analog steering, Right Analog gas/brake, R1/L1 shifting, R2 L2 look right/left, square look behind.
 
Well when I used to use my controller: Left Analog Steering, R2 and L2 Throttle
 
R2 gas
L2 Brake
Left Analog-steer
Right Analog up-up shift
Right Analog down- Shift down

served me well through every major title racing game on ps3 but the best on GT5. Remnds me of my previous steptronic transmission (manual swap now).

I'm horrible at throttle control with the triggers and it would seem to be impossible with the buttons.
 
I usually use my G25, but on occation when I don't feel like setting it up in front of the TV I'll use my standard PS3 controller. One of my friends said my brain is installed backwards to have my controller set up this way.

L1 - Clutch
L2 - Brake
L3 - Horn
Left Stick - Steering
Right Stick - Flick Down to Upshift, Flick Up to Downshift

Because my G25 has a clutch, my controller won't let me shift without it ever since I installed the G25 software on the PS3. Honestly, no clue how I did it. I thought everyone had that option when you set your controller up manually in the game options menu?

I don't know, but I sure as hell am going to check that in a couple minutes. That would be awesome if I could get a clutch.
EDIT: No clutch option under controller settings. :grumpy:

I use X and Square with the directional buttons most of the time but when driving Daytona I use the left analogue for steering.

OT: Does anyone know if that HKS controller is available in the UK?
 
I'm very used to throttle control and brake control using the X and square while using the left analog stick to steer.
If its done right you can drive almost as smooth as a wheel user IMO.
Worst part about it is when I forget to gradually increase pressure on the throttle when exiting a corner in a powerful car, terrible consequences lol ..
 
Steering - left analog
Accelerator - R2
Brake - L2
Gear shift - right analog
 
Forza Config all the way, working well so far for me.
 
- X and Square for throttle and break.
- D-pad and left analog for steering. (Which of the steering types depends on car and track.)
- L1/R1 for gear shift.
- L2 handbreak.
- R2 Behind view.
 
I use Left Analog Steering, R2 and L2 Throttle, I am going to buy a wheel as soon as funds allow but might not be for a while.
 
I use left analog for steering, right trigger for gas, left trigger for brake.

In the previous GT games I used the right analog stick for gas and brake. After playing the 360 for so many years I have adapted to the triggers for gas and brake.

This. Took me a while to adjust to it since the PS3 controller is far too small but I'm just about comfortable with it now.

L2/R2 gas/brake
Left analogue steering
[] downshift, 0 upshift
 
I mainly use a wheel. But when i'm doing Grinding round the Oval Tracks i use the Controller with Left Stick and L2 and R2
