Nürburgring Nordschleife - Love or Hate?

I voted neutral, mostly because I just don't know it worth spit. I'm at the point where I'm continually frustrated by it, because I have no real clue what to do on it. It seems so daunting to learn all those corners that I haven't really started to.

I have a question for those that know this track. About how long did it take you to learn the track? I've done the beginner AMG academy and silvered each section and the complete course. I've also silvered most of the sections on the intermediate academy. However If I don't drive the track for a few days I seem to forget everything about it. I've likely done each sector about 10 times and the whole track about a half dozen times and that's not enough. With shorter tracks I find about 20-40 laps will get me quite comfortable with a track, but I've never driven a track even close to as long as the "Ring". How much will I need to drive this track before I know what's coming?
 
LOVE it!

When you have some time to kill and just want to enjoy your favorite car it's fantastic.
 
I do Love it, but it's close between the Ring and Le Sarthe.

Sometimes, i'd rather have that nice long straight and a shorter, still testing, lap.

I would say it takes about 40-50 laps to get to know the track, then it takes another 50 to get comfortable with it. I think I must have done about 2000 laps on it since GT4 and I love the track, did it in real life on my motorcycle and ran my first lap under 9 minutes. It's a great representation of the track in real life.
 
I like it despite of the fact that I'm using a DS3. I used to hate the track, but as you drive it more often, your respect for the track will grow too.
 
I love running the 24hr track, every other layout seems just lifeless.
 
I was racing online at Nordschleife and the best lap showed as 1 min 10 seconds

It takes a while. For me, even once I 'learned' the track, I still needed to 'learn' how to drive it.

What really helped for me was GT4, and the 24hr race, which I completed A-spec, along with the 4 hour race.

Even with all that, there are still areas I have room form improvement.

Love isn't always easy, this track is proof.
 
Been there, done it and will go this year and the year after. It's one hell of a track.
 
I use to hate this track before due to the length, but after a bunch of races it's a great track to drive in. I usually by 3 cars at a time and keep them stock and drive them in the ring :)
 
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!

To be honest though, in the past games the track and I didnt mix, I hated it because of its tight corners BUT now I love it! Driving around it with my DFGT is far more satisfying than with a controller.
 
It's hard not to love this track. There is no type of corner you won't take. Decreasing/increasing radius, hairpins, etc... Which makes it perfect for testing and finding cars' weak spots.

And I'm not an expert of the 'ring. I do know it by memory, so I always know what's coming up.
 
How can you hate the best track on the planet - i cant get enough of it
Cant wait till i will drive 24h on it

I love it. I have since the very first attempt on GT4. A very fast very demanding track that seperates the men from the boys.
 
This track is magic, it encompases every great element of all great race tracks. Anyone can bang out a killa time on a track like Tsukuba as its only a minute or so worth of concentration. Where apart from an X1 or X2010 which ever you prefer to call it you're in for min of 5 and half upwards. That's what makes it a Drivers Track!

Last night finally plucked up enough courage to do the season 2 Nascar event on this circuit before it was closed......awesome.....what a mongrel.
Came 4th.

It is a very difficult corner, the line between losing several seconds taking it slowly and going off is razor thin. Depending on the car I've found the real trick is to not be afraid to keep on the power to stay on the track. In something like the GTR you late brake up to it and if you don't keep your foot in it to use the cars power to keep traction round it it just slides off.

Wow, I didn't think keeping on the accelerator through the turn would help so much, but I guess it does! I tried an earlier braking and acceleration through the corner and it help a bunch. Thanks for the tip! :sly:
 
Love it. I used to spend hours on gt4 just flying around the track for fun, sometimes to beat a target time others just to drive the track.

When I unlocked this in practice mode in gt5 it was like seeing an old friend. I still finding myself doing the same thing I used to do in gt4 now in gt5. I spend literally hours just driving around the ring.

I'll hopefully be writing an article or two about the ring for the gt life mag thats being worked on at the moment. One will be trying to beat a target time in a certain car with no aids and manual gears. The other will be a basic how to sortta thing to help new comers to navigate around the track. Will see how much time I have over the next week or two and if Schwadegan will approve the articles.

Right now it seems overwhelming. I want to be able to race events on it, but I just don't have the knowledge needed to be decent. Yet to get knowledge I need to race on the track. Kind of a Catch22.

I want to qualify for the WRS so I'm hoping that will at least get me comfortable with sector 2 and 3 and then I'm half way there.

It's fun to drive there alone, but it's far too narrow to have a proper race on.

Agree. It's good and fun for a solo lap/time trial. I'm not all agog about it though. There are other tracks I love more though: Suzuka, Laguna Seca, and Circuit de la Sarthe.
 
I'm not very good on it yet, but I do enjoy it.
