Nürburgring Nordschleife - Love or Hate?

Eh, sort of in between.

Fun in lower-HP cars or when dry, but I hate driving extremely fast or when it's raining on the 'Ring.

Just did the Seasonal Events Golf (Cart) race with a 330hp Golf...and had some good fun, and won :D.

simply do not ever look forward to driving on the damn thing. I'll take 3 hours of driving on Leguna Seca over half a lap of the N-Ring any day
 
I love it. Never seen the real track, but it's great in GT5. AMG special challenges are one of the best!
 
Love it and hate it. So I'm not neutral.

I wouldn't want every track to be a straight line, and I wouldn't want every track to be like this one.

Actually, what I probably hate about this track is not the track itself, but sucking at it.
 
I don't really hate any track. I'm better and worse at certain tracks, but really I'll drive anything. I just want to get better and have a more diverse arsenal of skills. So really, I love all tracks.
 
I love the track. I'd like to go there soon. I suppose once you learn the whole thing, you can then "love" it. Those who hate it might not have absorbed it yet?

1 on 1 with the blue Impul Calsonic GT-R in the middle of the night while it's raining on the 24hours version is just so intense... Best GT moment i've had so far.
I utterly love the track. It challenges you AND the car. Every aspect of it.
It's always a good feeling to take the Swedenkreuz at a high speed.
 
Brilliant track.

Day... Night... Rain... Shine... Doesn't matter.

Love it, no other track comes close.
 
Nürburgring Nordschleife + Night Time + Close Race = The most Epic thing in GT5.
 
Love it. I'd take the taxi ride if I could.
 
I like the course itself, but it's absolutely horrible when you want to have a competitive race online.
 
I love it.

The 24h circuit is messed up though. Wish we could have got a version combining the north course with the full GP course (including M-B arena and shorter more abrupt chicane). I would have loved that.

I do like the 24h course because the GP part breaks the monotony of lonely road through the forest, but it'd be even better if they just straight combined the GP/F track and Nordschleife, without changing either of them much. :D

Right now it seems overwhelming. I want to be able to race events on it, but I just don't have the knowledge needed to be decent. Yet to get knowledge I need to race on the track. Kind of a Catch22.

I want to qualify for the WRS so I'm hoping that will at least get me comfortable with sector 2 and 3 and then I'm half way there.

I understand that.

When I first got GT4, and I got the MX-5, to grind credits, I did the Family Cup races in the Miata on the 'Ring. Wasn't much, but I learned which corners were coming up next.

I still struggle with some areas of the track. Wehrseifen (the 2nd gear left hand hairpin after Miss-Hit-Miss) I could take great in the C5.R and the Golf in the seasonal event, but any other car, I don't carry enough speed into it. This is an overcompensation from when I used to overrun it constantly.

The NASCAR event, had troubles with Schwedenkreuz and from karussel to karussel.

My failure to pass Mission 34, I am pretty sure, is due to my not being fast enough in the first three sectors, up to Adenaur Forst and failure to get a good run coming out of Galgenkopf (right before the long straight). The first turn of the course, I always take way too slow as well...

Don't be afraid to go drive a free run in practice mode. I know that doesn't generate credits, but you can run the track without AI messing up what you're trying to do, which is learn the track.

I used to feel that way, but I completely disagree now. I love the challenge of avoiding the drivers who don't know the track well enough to manage it, combined with the challenge of keeping it together yourself. I joined a 16-person Nordschleife room last night with my friend, and we ran it probably 15 times in a row. It was pure joy.
 
I do at least one lap on it every day. It's a testament to how amazing both Gran Turismo 5 and Nurburgring are.
 
i would say about half of my total time spent in gt4 and gt5 have been on the ring, ill spend hours just doing laps and tuning cars, pushing harder and harder until my heart is pounding from the constant threat of those steel walls. this is in my opinion one of the most difficult tracks in the game to really truly go FAST on. every single corner and bend is a genuine threat to your lap time and to your car's well being, and thats how a track should be. theres a reason this is THE test track, because it is driving hell, which makes it driving nirvana. smooth, sweeping corners with exits you can see from a mile away are fun to fly around at top speed, sure. but really pushing yourself and the car, and knowing no matter how fast you go, youre really not hitting the ceiling, im sorry but there is just no other track that does anything like that in the game, or for that matter any other game. now if we could just get a proper downhill touge road at night with street lamps in the mountains of kyoto, this game would probably work its way into my body via osmosis. :gtpflag:
 
I hate Nürburgring Nordschleife for being so legend, that's all.
 
@algibraic: Wow, I didn't really think about it that way, but you're kinda right. :lol: It is a very unique and amazing track.

Is this the touge track you're talking about?

The Nurburgring is great for taking a car and seeing how quick you can go round and seeing how much you can push but I don't like it for racing.
 
for me it's the best touge track in gt5 ,

it truly tested my driving skills with the bumpy roads and "slippery" grass, slap on sport soft tyres and fully tuned cars and just push the car to the limit give the satisfaction as a racer

And I can't personally use it as a test track as my lap times vary wildly due to my poor consistency on that track.

This. I wish I could use it to test and compare my cars, but my times are so inconsistent that I can't. But the 'Ring is very fun to race and practice on, one of my new favorites. :sly:
 
Love this track, one of the only ones that doesnt get boring in Enduros since the laps are much larger and its less repetitive. Actually looking forward to the 24h one.
 
Can't stop loving this track, infact I race it so much that it actually seems pretty small now. I just love everything, the elevation changes, the weather, the trees.

Serious question: Why are they not running Nordschleife as a Formula 1 Grand Prix track?

hated the track on forza 2 and forza 3. now that i have a ps3 and gt5 i love the track. mainly because its so big you dont get tired of the repetition as much, and you can see the detail more in gt5.
