Nürburgring Nordschleife - Love or Hate?

Serious question: Why are they not running Nordschleife as a Formula 1 Grand prix track.

it just became too dangerous for the newer F1 cars. That's why they stopped using the north loop as a F1 course and it was in the early 70's I believe after Niki Lauda nearly killed himself during an F1 race

I was fortunate enough to actually experience the NorthLoop this past September in a Nissan GT-R tuned up for the track and driven by a pro, way cool and an experience everyone should have.

On GT5 I love the course and put every car I own on it to see how I do. After 100's of laps, you do start to have consistency and their is a rythm to the Green Hell.
 
I love it, mainly because it's challenging to race on. I always use it to test out my cars which is fun.

Oh wow. :odd: I didn't know they used to run there a while ago, but I can understand why they don't anymore, just too dangerous.

That's a nasty crash, it looks like he only barely clipped the grass. :O
 
Does anyone know why the Mercedes-Arena is cut out of the 24h track configuration? I like that part and it seems weird how it's just not included.
 
I think its the best track in the game... guess that means I love it hehehe x)
 
I have a hard time understanding how someone can hate the Ring. It is pure driving joy. It is probably a good thing I don't live in Germany or I would be going broke 24 euros at a time. There is a road behind my house which bears a striking resemblence however, and on the odd late-evening, I can sometimes be found cruising my 2.5GT or motorcycle down the roadway in a "spirited" fashion. ^^ Of course I would never do anything illegal. heh. heh. heh.

aaaalmost like having my own private Nurburgring, because usually, there is little to no traffic at all and it goes like this for more than 100 miles

I love it. It's the sheer length that makes it so fun, and the fantastic scenery, looks just like a race track should. But it can be quite tricky as the narrow and bumpy road means the fastest cars suffer from instability, plus loads of corners are off camber too. :D
 
I both love it & hate it, but you missed that option :) So I'll have to go with love
 
I was formerly in the "Neutral" camp, but I'm now moving into the "Love" camp. Using a lower powered car and getting some familiarity with the track has made all the difference. I drove it a few times this past week in a modified VW Golf and I really enjoyed it. In higher powered cars I always found it frustrating, but not in the Golf. I think as I get more familiar with the track I may start to feel more comfortable taking higher powered cars on it. I'm glad I'm starting to appreciate it as it is alot of fun.
 
Love, i test all the cars i obtain and tune at this track first. I mean it is the Nurburgring duhhh
 
It's a very good track, if a bit too narrow for my liking... Other than that, love it.
 
The best track for TT, or for a one-on-one race. Less good for a full grid race, as it is narrow with few (safe) overtaking spots.
 
loveeeee. bit narrow but that just gives u more of a challenge wen driving this track at high speed. fun, challenging, varities of corners. . . i love it.

Absolutely love it. GT5 made me appreciate this track a whole lot more than I used to, thanks to the AMG challenges. This tracks always remains challenging and it's great for testing cars.
 
It's amazing to drive on, but not so much to race on. It's a bit too narrow to pass people safely, especially online when some of them cannot drive. But yes, love it!
 
Did the 4 hours @ Ring today, the first endurance race I didn't feel bored after a while 👍

(Took the M3 GTR with racing hards, 6 minutes ahead of P2 eventually)
 
I voted neutral because my first encounter with this... thing was in Forza 1, ad the physics were horrible - and I hated it with a passion! But it's not too bad in GT, so it balances out.

I love the Nordschleife. That's almost all I'd drive in GT4. Well, that and Costa di Amalfi. My friends and I raced there all the time in 2P Battle, and we're going to start doing it again for GT5. I'm just grinding to get money for them to buy cars, since I'm the only one with the game and console right now.
 
Been 'driving' on it digitally since '98 in the PC Sim Gran Prix Legends... Simply awesome.
 
I hated it at first, but that was because I didn't know how to drive it fast. Doing the GT-R record trophy has really made me appreciate this track, it truly is a test of nerve, concentration and precision like no other.

This 👍 I did two 4-hour endurance races there today in the Mazda 787B, time seemed to fly by. It never got old.

Doing that 8 hours at the 'Ring helped me to learn it much better, too.

I'm actually looking forward to doing the 24 hour race now. :scared:
 
I always look for Nordschleife rooms with SRF off.
