I love both, but it kind of feels like if anyone of us would take the mad zr1 out on a track and try pushing good laps.. it would kill us. So the gt-r feels safer and probably faster for us average-joes.. And yes we are not racecar drivers

Nissan GTR, a dream to drive at the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

A fast car to drive around Nurburgring indeed but I wouldn't exactly call it a dream to drive. Too stable and lack of excitement or drama, which is not a bad thing when your racing or it suits your style. When I'm just driving round the Nurburgring for fun I think the RUF BTR is a much more engaging experience for me.

I prefer the 'vette ZR1. The GT-R is a great machine but it's too clinical and isn't very fun to drive, the Corvette though loves to kick it's tail out and that's much more fun for me.

GT-R Spec V. Why? Same engine cannot be be found from utilitarian machines, interior quality, comfortable around the town, easy all weather driveability etc etc..

Would I own one? No. R32 GT-R is the TRUE Godzilla.

In terms of grip :)
I prefer the '07 model over it though.

Well... I'm more of a GT-R man in real life (due to being more practical, for the most part), but as far as GT5 is concerned, I'd go with the 'Vette.

First of, it has the RM available.
Second, and more importantly, the GT-R is way overrated and overused in GT5.
I don't like to be just another 'zomg 800HP GT-R ownz' guy.

Plus, it kinda drives itself. I don't feel 'in charge' of the car.
In GT-R, car drives you.

The ZR1 is a nutcase! And in the game itself, far more useful than the SpecV, as it will get you far and ahead (thank you RM!) :sly:

Just wish the backside wasn't made of plastic... :D

I voted for the GT-R SpecV though. Godzilla is still the king of monsters.

As an afterthought, I'll have to add this:
Thr R35, while a good performer, isn't a worthy successor to the BNR34 (in my opinion). That car looked good, is a beast on the track (especially with some mods done to it) and, while already a bit overweight and electronically nannyied, it's not as fat or as computerized as the GT-R. It has been the international posterchild of Japanese sportscars and to me, it's still unmatched.

Sadly, thought, getting a BNR34 is probably going to be just as expensive (if not more expensive) then a GT-R. At least if you have to import one yourself.

Thankfully, it's not my personal favourite car, so I can deal with that :D

If the leaf spring is so superior to the coil over besides cost, then why is the corvette all over the place when being raced against a car or the clock?

It works well enough for the 'Vette to produce some pretty serious lap times.
Would it be better with a coil over based suspension? Maybe. Is the ZR-1 insanely fast as is? Yes.

And, well, leaf springs controlling your car, or computers controlling your car - neither seems perfect to me, but someone who does care more about the excitement he gets from his car will probably not chose the computer controlled car. Not because the leaf springs are that good, but because he doesn't want to have a computer being in charge of the car instead of himself.

i cant seem to drive the zr1 for the life of me without driving aids while i can beast the gtr with nothing used.

but the zr1 is just soo much fun to race and drift, it wins my vote without a doubt :)
a winner? no. a fun ride? hell yes. :)

For real world driving, and winter driving, I give the GT-R the nod.

For raw power and insane fun, the ZR1. If it were the ideal world, I'd get both, but in terms of practicality, and the fact is has at least two seats in the rear, somewhat, I'd get the GT-R. (Spec V is too expensive for not enough performance increase over standard car).

The GT-R is good.
Actually, maybe too much.

Sometimes I wonder if GT5 isn't a huge ad for this car. I mean, it is as fast as a 458 Italia around any track. Or faster.
And it's by far the easyest car in the game to push to the limits, IMO.

I don't know. I don't like it.
It's a great machine, in game. But like an X1, I can't get the fun out of it, i'm sorry.

A GTR is not faster than a 458, where did you get this misinformation?

GT-R. Always preferred Japanese cars to American cars and I always will.

Not a big fan of the Corvette, especially considering how pretty much everybody loves it.
The Spec V is a much smoother drive, much more predictable....perhaps not as exciting to drive as the Vette but I like it more.

I like my GT-R Spec V to, I have 3 of them actually, one for circuit race, and the other two for high speed/drag race. A proper tuned gt-r can take out the zr1 on the ssr7 tunnel drag.

But can't predictability eventually lead to boring?

Sometimes what makes cars fun is that you don't know when or where it will fight back, testing your skills and courage (last part sounds cliche).

I voted for the ZR-1. It looks better, sounds better, goes faster, and it's a Corvette. The GT-R is nice, but I've never been a big fan of them. They seem overrated to me. I bought an '02 GT-R Spec Nur and put a whole bunch of mods in it. It now has 750 horsepower or so. It's still an incredibly boring drive. Plus, practically everybody else on GT5 Online already has a GT-R.👎
Corvette ZR-1 for the win!👍

For me the answer is easy, I choose the ZR1.

The GT-R is a exellent car, but it doesn't feel like a 520hp car. It's quite boring to drive to be honest, it feels like the car is controlling you and not the opposite. The GT-R isn't exactly a looker either, it's not ugly but I think the R33 and R34 looks way better and in the end I would rather take the R33.

The Zr1 is a beast and it's harder to control if you compare with the GTR. But I like it, driving fast shouldn't be too easy cause then I'm getting bored. The ZR1 is never boring, it's exciting, has a proper manual gearbox and looks way better. What's the point of driving fast when can't feel that you are driving fast.

I'm tired of people complaining about the leaf springs, cheap interior etc. If I buy a sports car I want a driving machine, not furniture to my living room. In the end the ZR1 a blast, and that's what matters to me.

But none of them are bad cars, they are only following different philosophies and I'm more of a vette-guy.

Btw, don't forget the sound. I think we got a winner:D

I just tried myself. :dopey:
And I said 'as fast as. Or faster'

I'm obviously talking about the GT-R Spec-V '09 and 458 Italia '09, and I'm not talking about top speed.

Round The Ring, 7.23ish for the former and 7.26ish for the latter (ABS@1, Sports Hard).

I always performed faster laps with the 458, and after checking the Top Gear power lap list, that also confirmed that the 458 is faster on their track. I like both cars, but i do not hold the GTR in the same light as the 458. As an Italian i would have thought you would have been the same ^^.

I don't know what you mean by "all over the place", but I can assure you it's not because of the spring design. Transverse leaf springs are neither a serious advantage or disadvantage, they're really just a different method of doing the same exact thing. What's for certain is that the Corvette doesn't ride around on some sort of glorified pickup truck suspension. That would be the Mustang.
