On a scale of 1-10 I would give Gran Turismo 5 a . . .

lol 4 people voted for 0 - 0.5 (they 100% dont have the game) :D

For nowdays, compared to all other games in 2011, 9-9.5 for me! 0.5 missing just for the stuff that is unfinished.

This is the first GT game i've owned an di only played on the very first one briefly, given it bout 4.5 out of 10 mainly because its not a good racing game.
Its taken 6+ years to be released and even then it wasnt ready to be released, they continually patch it to include things that were to be standard. They wasted too much time on a lot of cars that really are not needed, purely to say they have 1000 cars, 50 different skylines 50! The game is more of an interactive car encyclopedia which lets u test drive the cars and allows people to discuss their latest car they purchased, the game version of top gear basically.
Also, the graphics on standard cars are dated, courses are quite plain and there are a lot of courses not included which should have been, same as other cars which are more iconic that could have been included if only skylines 9-50 had been left out.

I had GT5 Prologue and the graphics havent moved on much since then, the premium cars look good but the rest just look roughly reskinned GT4 models.
As a car 'collect em up' with sum driving its brilliant, but, as a racing game, NFS Shift is a better racer and when teh second one comes out it will improve on the last one and leave GT5 looking more outdated

I voted 6.5 because I still play it almost every day, despite the huge list of mind meltingly stupid ideas that annoy me in the game, it's still just good enough to keep me entertained. I was expecting it to be a lot better than it is, given the amount of time the game took to make and considering this is their 8th GT game. It seems graphics is the only improvement they care about, as the rest of the game has suffered to make way for 200 1080p 60fps 3d premium cars, most of which are cars I couldn't care less about.

lol you've given a scale of 0.5 to 10 with 20 options which makes it technically 1 to 20

Also it makes no sense, if i want to vote a whole number I have two options

I´m giving it a 7.5 just because of the awsome graphics and the driving physics. If GT5 was a PS2 game, I would give it a 3.0...

I give it a score of 8. It could have very easily been a 9.5 but PD messed up with A-Spec and made it far too short, which isn't fair for those of us who don't play online. They did however make the physics, graphics, tracks and premium cars very well. I will give GT6 a perfect 10 if they can manage to make every car premium, include more classic GT tracks such as Midfield Raceway and most importantly, make a much longer A-Spec mode.

Voted 8-8.5.

The fundamentals are fantastic, the driving physics and graphics are great. The greatest detraction for me is the qualty of most of the standard cars, plus they STILL haven't gotten the sounds of the cars correct.

I also wish that there were more tracks. There are many Rally cars yet only a few tracks to use them compared to previous Gt's. There are so many LM + Race cars yet limited races to participate in. Just pop in Gt4 and see the amount of events compared to Gt5.

After 5 years the game shines in some aspects but then feels incomplete in others. If Kazunori is such a perfectionist, does he truly believe that this game is indeed "perfect"?

Gt's competitors are neck and neck with GT5 with the exception of car detail. I have been a loyal fan of the GT series for a very long time, but i've had more fun with other racing games other than GT5.

Of course most people who would have voted it below a 5 have probably given up on checking the game's message board. This has to be taken into consideration. I gave up on this game a few weeks ago but still come around occasionally to see what the discussion is (I am holding out hope for the next in the series, I guess.)

I voted a five, have stopped playing and will be viewing the "Daily Babe" thread until 6 comes out.

I gave it 8.5-9... don't want to let a few niggling flaws get in the way of a great driving game!

Shouldn't you give it a higher score if it was on the PS2?

If it was the same as it is now that is.👍

I think I know what Husky GT meant.. I feel the same.

If this game was on the PS2 it would have PS2 gfx, and PS2 couldn't handle the complex driving physics either (I assume), but it would still be like GT4's physics in some ways. It's why I can't play GT3 or GT4 anymore for any length of time, the GFX- mostly the low resolution and horrible lack of antialiasing, make it unbearable to look at on my 52" HDTV.

In GT4 the physics are pretty weak too, and force feedback is really "wrong" feeling, it just doesn't feel real at all. I even got the special cables to run GT4 in HD before GT5 came out, it's better than SD, but damn those jaggies and stuttering are still painful to look at.

To me the core career mode gameplay in GT4 and GT3 is way better than GT5's weak A-Spec though. GT5's force feedback and physics are awesome though, I couldn't be too much happier with them- and for an old PS3, even with all of it's flaws, GT5's GFX are pretty damn good too.

So just on gameplay with graphics and physics aside, that makes sense to me.

I think I prefer having the memories from the past games especially GT3 which was my favourite, if I went back to them now I think I would be in for a shock :scared:.

I agree on the PS3 it's getting old now it's about time for the PS4 imo, although Microsoft haven't exactly set the ball rolling with their rehashed 360 have they? I was thinking back when I got the 360 on it's release day, it was october 2005 it's definitely time for the next gen to be released.

Got 7.5-8 from me... Just because PD really messed up with these latest updates. Pull them back and it'll get 8-8.5.

I'm right in the 6-7 range. As usual with GT the driving itself is great. I also love the online racing. Yeah it takes time and effort to find yourself a good group of guys to run with but once you do it completely transforms the game. There's no replacement for human competition.

That said, A spec and B spec are disappointingly worthless. I think that's obviously everyone's biggest gripe, how those are put together and the grinding required. At the end of the day, though, within a month or so I had leveled up enough that everything is unlocked, B spec gets me enough money while I'm at work to buy any car I want and I just can't get enough of the online racing. Yeah, it's a shame A spec is so ghey but I have to admit, online makes it seem kind of pointless anyways, at least until there is a 100 fold increase in the quality of the AI.

Overall, in the important area to me, the driving physics, this game is money but they get the 6-7 rating because they dropped the ball in many areas. Honestly doesn't make me enjoy the game less thanks to online but there are certainly a lot of head scratchers and "wtf were they thinking"s with this title.

I gave it an 8 (barely)

While there is much I really like about GT5, and I certainly don't expect a game this size and scope to be perfect, the reason I took a couple stars off is that there are some fairly obvious flaws and missed opportunities that would have been so easy to fix/add to the game.

For instance, they take all this time to make some amazing looking cars, and to have such a huge variety, and yet they make it so hard to simply take a moment to enjoy them for how they look. There is no manual camera view in the dealerships or in our garages to allow us to zoom in and out and from all possible angles - and yet it would have been sooo easy to add that.

Heck, with most of the cars as standards, the only way to even enjoy looking at them is to run a race, save a replay and then go into photomode.

They tease us with these amazing clips from the start of the game and when the main menu is idle, but they give us NO option to view those on our own! Its crazy!

I'd love to be able to manually chose what car from my garage to put in which ever of the clips from the idel screen as I choose. It would have been sooo easy to do! Sooo frustrating.

And don't get me started on the ridiculous nature of the new paint system. It's insane!

PD, just add a paint shop into the menu, sort the paint choices by stock and then by alternatives, and leave the "special" paint chips as collectables. The idea that we have to collect individual paint chips, and we have to somehow know what paints in our collections are stock for which cars is absurd! The paint system alone is worth docking the game 1 star!

I have other gripes as well, like how the game doesn't tell you what the stock parts are, so that if you mod or tune it, you have to remember what parts were stock. Granted, the recent update added an option to save settings, but this should not be necessary.

I have other gripes, but overall there is far more to love about this game than hate, so for me it deserves an 8... but just barely.

Solid 9, as of Spec 2.

In my 27 years I've played just about every racing game out there. Can GT5 be improved? Yes. Is there a better racer as an overall experience currently in existence? I say hardly. So it deserves no less than a 9 in my book.

4 people are Forza fanboys....

If you only focus on what GT5 DOESN'T do, then why did you buy it in the first place? If you take what PD did, in this era, it is amazing. NASCAR, Rally, Karting, Drifting, F1... all these in ONE GAME!! Yes Dirt may have some advantages in the Rally section just as F11 may have advantages in the formula department, but these games are devoted to their event! GT5 does an amazing job with all of these!!

I gave it a 7, mainly due to the fact its almost as if it was released as a half finished game, there has been far to many problems with the game since release that have seriously effected my gaming experience, especially online. And then there's PDs communication, if I was too rate there communication to the community I would give them 2/10. They always seem to be hide behind closed doors about things. Another thing pulling it down is that there is WAYYY to many Japanese cars!

If it wasn't for that though I would give the game a 10/10, I love the way the cars drive, I love the tracks, the graphics, the people I've met and loads more, its just taken far to long to get to this stage though.

I give it 8-8.5...

I take a point off for the online connectivity issues and bugs and lose half a point for the borked tuning settings. Otherwise there isn't much I can complain about.
