On a scale of 1-10 I would give Gran Turismo 5 a . . .

Lol, 5 Forza fanboys took their time to register just to vote 0 - 0.5!

I voted 7 - 7.5. Too much that still needs improvement to give it a higher rate.

I gave it 8,5.

Some things that could be better:

- AI to not brake as much before corners. Let the AI cars take more risks in cornering which should lead to more opposition in races.
- Standard cars have now in-car views but the hoods cannot be seen. To me this is just very weird and makes me skip the in-car view on standard cars.
- Respect for the country of makes, so no longer right-wheel positions on cars like Volvos and Citroens.
- Freshening up Aspec with new races and more endurances.
- Some cars have a nice lower hood view while most have not. Implementing a lower hood view on all cars would not be too hard to do I think and be very welcomed by me at least.

Furthermore I must say I respect both Sony and PD for seeing GT5 not only as a game but also as a project, giving it time and money to perfect it. 👍 If only more gamestudios had the same attitude towards games.

GT5

Driving experience (physics, track accuracy and so on) 9,5
Content (A-Spec) 5

FM4

Driving experience (Physics are totaly crap, Nordschleife is a shame) 5
Content 9,5

Let T10 and PD work together, let T10 do the content and PD the rest like physics, car and track design :)

As many many said before: "GT5 is a good simulator hidden in a medicore game"

Its fun to drive and offers many cool features that improve the driving experience, like weather, day and night transitions, awesome pitstops and a good selection of cars.
To me the core driving experience is better then ever before, but some other features are not that good. The tuning is simple and offers limited connection to real world modifications. The standard cars look dated, but at least offer some diversety, since the physics are quite well executed.

Though i wish that GT5 had more cars, especially european and american ones, the overall package is good and chances are that the DLC improves the collection of cars even more. To me there is no alternative on the market, that offers such a good driving experience.

(8.5-9.0)

great game but you cant change wheels on standard, only 3 wings in the whole game, missing all the old tracks and a few minor other things. I gave it a 8.5

I gave it an 8 - Only because of the updates.

If you don't have internet, 5.5. :yuck:

I would give it a 8.5

It has almost all ingredients it needs to be perfect but the recipe is not the best it could be.

Before I gave it a 6.8 because of horribly lacking A-Spec career mode... what a waste of cars and tracks and physics model. They could do sooo much more.

Anyway, after the last few updates, especially the physics, I upgrade my score to 7.5.

If ''Spec III'' ever comes out with a new more challenging and lengthy extended A-Spec mode rivaling and improving on GT4's, even if they do extended career via DLC- I'd bump it up to an 8.5 or 9.0.

If not racing on-line, there's not a whole lot to do in GT5 anymore. There's no progression after a few months playing. There are way too many limits.. $20 million, lvl 40, Tiny A-Spec... a damn crying shame.

Such amazing potential.

Face palm!

I don't understand how people can rate it as 10/10? That implies the game is as good as it can get and has no room for improvement.

So what about upgrading standard cars to premium?
What about including all the tracks from gt4?
What about making RM tuning available on all cars?
What about new 2011 cars?
What about a livery editor?
What about the ability to create your own race leagues with points and qualifying?
What about weather and night racing on all tracks?

Something tells me I'm talking to young kids who are easily awe struck though.

I dare anyone here to drive this car at 200 mph and not feel sheer terror on the ring when it's pitch black.

Thank You Polyphony for that awe inspiring experience. For that alone your Game deserves a 10/10!

It's been a year already and I'm still playing GT5 2-4 hours everyday! Any game that keeps me this interested deserves a 10/10

Initial Install 7/10 shows promise but well incomplete
at v1.10 8/10 gui much improved, controls much improved and now has race suits, AI a backwards step
Spec 2.0 9.5/10 AI 3 steps forward, weather & time controls, replay controls etc etc...

8/10.

Good physics and graphics but that is about it.
GT4 had more features, events and tracks.
Shifter support is poor because you can not shift with full throttle opposed to real car, clutch is also digital.

As pure driving simulator, I can not ask much more from a console title, but as game there is still much to be improved. Great that they are still patching and improving GT5.

88/100

great game and i love it (premium cars, weather/night, seasonals, some tracks are just so epic (Nurb Nord, Monza...) covering a wide variety of motorsport from F1 to Nascar). but still room for improvements

- not enough premium cars (only about 200!!!!) i'll trade all those excess skylines, nsx, miata ... and pointless cars i never drive (daihatsu etc...) for half the amount of premium RUF, Astons etc... that already exist in game as standard i.e. the finish on the RUF is really shocking! please quality over quantity - who has driven 1000+ cars in this game?

- more race mod available for cars -> Mercedes SLS, Ferrari 458, Lambo Gallardo i.e. the type of cars you get in GT class like Blancpain/Le Mans championships

- more real world tracks (Spa was a great start, hopefully more to come)

- faster and sleaker UI (doing oil changes on a big garage is a PITA)

- online multi still needs some improvements (Spec 2.0 was a step in right direction)

if it had all that then 95/100. (PS - 95 is the highest i could ever give to a game since i don't believe in perfect games)

I wish you could have a custom pit crew.

Spend money on gear to help you reduce the time in pit, train your crew.

More cars.
Put wheels on standard.
Photomode for standards.

anything below a 7 is from idiots/fanboys. wouldn't take those scores seriously.

I gave it a zero for the lulz.

Realistically i'd give it a 7 or 7.5.

I only keep playing it, and have done for the past six months or so, out of some weird sense of loyalty. I've been playing Gran Turismo since GT1 and have been a member here since 2004 - i feel i should still be playing it, even though it's novelty has long since worn out.

It would seem a few members need a reminder of the AUP they agreed to follow when they joined.

https://www.gtplanet.net/aup/

Insulting members, telling them they should not be here and failing to use good basic grammar puts you at odds with numerous parts of the AUP and is simply not acceptable.

A review score is opinion based and as such can't be wrong, and many of us have been here long enough that the site has grown well beyond just the GT part of it, something you would do well to keep in mind.

I voted 6.5 - 7 for the record, keep the AUP in mind if you reply to that.

Scaff

Didn't vote because its hard to vote on a scale as some parts of the game is 9.5 - 10 while other parts are 0 - 0.5. So it's really difficult for me to work out an overall average score.

I give it a 10, because this is the only game in my collection, that i have been playing solidly for almost a whole year. Atleast three times a week.

9.0 , with room to grow to 11. This game offers something for every level user, and time invested, from casual to hard core.

I would have given it:

7.1 - at launch (only because of what we have now, looking back at it, GT5 needed work)

8.9 (9.1 because I like GT5 a lot) - TODAY

👍 👍
