The question is, what rights did they buy, they got the rights to use Porsche, Ferrari, Koenigsegg and others, but were they exclusive rights, or just rights to use the cars in that game, if microsoft were smart, they would of tried to get exclusive rights to all of them. Ferrari I think after all the NFS games, arn't giving out exclusive rights anymore, but this is just talk, I don't KNOW that for a fact it's just what some guy in the media has said who happens to be in the know. But then, these people are wrong an awful lot as well. I personally don't think Porsche will be in GT4, I don't think PD will fight for the rights for Porsche, they have Ruf, and personally I'm happy with them. The only mention of Porsche was in that mag scan which didn't provide a source but then later on it called Ruf Porsche Ruf, it was an error imo, but we can still hope. Ferrari on the other hand is a different matter, KY wants them, Ferrari wants in, licences have got in the way in every GT game so far. We'll have to wait and see.

If Ferrari or Porsche are in GT4, it may be a smart marketing strategy to hold on to that secret until the game is about to be released. In a similar way to how the F1 cars were a surprise inclusion, or the McLaren in Prologue.
 
There is also another indication that some high end European manufacturers are getting in. PD said that they would definitely delay the game if they were able to get some high end licenses.

The game appears to be going along well in development, a prologue version is released and then they don't exactly delay the game, but give a release date a good 4 months past what everyone was expecting.

That is a good sign for me.
 
There's a gt4p for Euro coming so that means the game wont see the light of day in a good while. I believe we will be surprised when gt4 comes out, what if the box art has a Ferrari Enzo on it, whoa!
 
They should use a Celica GT4 on the cover...

you know... GT4 = GT4 :rolleyes:
 
If Ferrari get in (unlikely IMO) they must include the 288 GTO the most beautiful car ever created.
 
if they do, i am expecting the F40
 
If they do I reckon they would probaly put a 360 spider in and maybe a modena challenge.

And yes, damn Ferrari, let the satan curse it's name, Ferrari should be in. And yes, even though all the infos I've got are saying that Ferari will not make it, I think it will. And if it happens, lots of Ferrs will be in - after all, GT4 is an history-based game.

Cobra, do you believe everything you read? ONE MAG COBRA, it's not an offical announcment, is it now? ALL console mags talk crap, you must have realised this by now, what with all the 3d spectator talk, and crap like that.
If Ferrari is in, great, if porsche are in, who cares, RUF are better anyway. A realistic f40...mmmm mmmmm mmm, still I have "other" games with these cars to enjoy ;), but realistic f40 mmm

F50 over F40???? WHAT!!!! F50 is pants in comparison, the F40 just looks so much meaner.
 
i would like to see porsche rather than Ruf...i like a lot of the classic porsches like the older 911 carrera turbos and the LM cars.
 
F40 is better than the F50, 99.99% of car fanatics ill tell you that, butthe F50 isn't a bad car. The Ferrari I would be impreessed to see in would be the 330 Tri LM, the one that set a record auction price, that is not only beutiful, but it has a lot of history and performance, especially for it's age.
 
Based on what that article says, Porsche is finaly being added, well if they meant Ruf, then they wouldn't have said finaly as Ruf was in GT2..... As for high end licenses, based on the delays...... and the fact that most screenshots are of the same 65 or so cars.... I think maby just maby PD got some major exotics into the game!
 
I think Ferrari might be in, but the article first said Porsche, then called Ruf Porsche Ruf. I've seen stranger things, I read a preview of GT3 that said for the first time off road racing is in the series. And yes, that was a GT3 preview.
 
I dont care what anyone says, the mag said, "porsche has finally made it." They wouldn't say something that bold for nothing and I'm sure they know ruf was in gt3.
 
Like I said, another mag said off road racing has made it's debut in GT3. The people that write the mags are only human, they are still prone to making mistakes. It would be great if Porsche were in, but dont believe they are over that mag scan.

Well, maybe RUF and Porsche are both in? :confused: Like Mugen and Honda, one's a tuner, one's a regular car maker.

Either way, it has to be in! Live, that off road driving might was meant for rally racing, who knows? I just dont believe a bold statement like that, could be false. The mag was well made, with new track pics and a interview with KY, the real deal. It has to be true. And they did say there would be desired euro automakers in gt4. PPl want porsche in, ppl want lambo, ppl want ferrari, those are desirable euro automakers imo.
 
The more I think of it, the more it seems to be likely that Ferrari, Porsche, and similar companies will make it in. KY's life work and his passion is the GT series. The absence of manufacturers like Ferrari is possibly the only black mark on the series. KY has stated that he wants Ferrari to get in, and it would help bring GT4 closer to what he would envision as the perfect driving game, which is what he has been trying to make since the original Gran Turismo. PD and Sony obviously have the means and the motivation to overcome any licensing difficulties, since if Microsoft could do so for PGR2, Sony should be able to do so as well.

But if they just got the license for Ferrari recently, expect a big, but worthwhile delay since PD is bound to include dozens of Ferrari models, all of which have to be photographed, tested, modeled for the game, etc, etc.
 
Maybe they have already got some recorded. Dont forget, there was a pic of PD hq's file cabinet with car records and there was a Ferrari logo on one of the file holders. Then there was a Ferrari next to a Lotus in one of the pics of the test site PD uses to test cars.
 
hey might already have the modeling done as corbagt said, or maybe thats the main reason for the current delays. if the game was supposed to come out chrismas then the game must be just about finished and they are trying to squeze in last minute licences
 
Delays could also be attributed to PD waiting for existing exclusive rights to a manufacturer (such as Ferrari) to expire.
