I'd get a Nikon D50/70 and spend the rest on lenses.

Or a car!

Wow. Man, in the future, it's gonna feel like you're inside the porn.

They have that now, you know. It's called sex :p

Back on topic though, there's always going to be some kind of crazy uber model for someone with money. I bet it's not really significantly better than something costing a tenth of the price.

That's a little (resized) pic taken with the camera. I mean, unless you're photographing a wall mural or you're a professional, why bother?

My dad has the Canon 8 MP EOS D20. Honestly, his camera takes super sharp pictures at the resolution. Sad thing is, that camera and the lense he bought cost about as much as our 36 inch HDTV that he purchased a few years back.

I have a 5 MP Canon Powershot A610 and couldn't be happier with it. I still don't know how to use all the functions of it though. It takes time I guess.

It's aimed towards hard-core professionals who have studios and stuff. It's an investment that should make money. it's not for your average deviantart casual/amateur photographer

Hahaha. Word, man. Does it even COME with a lens on newegg? Lenses are so much more important most of the time, anyway. I hate all these stupid best buy cameras that they try to sell you which are all "technologic" and stuff... yet, they have a totally squat lens.

My guess is no. My dad's Eos D20 did not come with a lense. He had to buy that separately.

That's small fry in the world of camera guys.

Introducing the Hasselblad H2D-39.
  • 39 Megapixels
  • The raw image file is 78mb
  • It's own 80gb HD
It does weigh 2.1kg though, so I wouldn't want to carry it around too long.

Nail hit firmly on the head.

Back when I was younger and heavily into photography I used to own and use a pair of Canon F-1n's and a pair of Canon T-90's.

These were the 35mm film versions of the above at the time (I'm talking £1k a body for the F-1n and £650 a body for the T-90 in the early '90s).

The pictures they took were arguably no different that with any other Cannon body, but thet did offer features that no other camera in teh range did. The T-90 had a inbuilt 5fps drive and 1/8000 top shutter speed, making it a significant choice for sports photographers of the day. The F-1n was an amazing tool, so well built it could stand almost anything, one of my bodies had a pint of beer spilt over it when I taking shots for a friends band. wiped it off and it never missed a beat. I swear you could you that damn thing as a hammer.

Thats what yo pay for here, the difference in built quality from amatuer to pro kit is huge.

Anyway camera bodies have always been the cheap bit, now lenses that when things get silly.

EF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM $10,833
EF 500mm f/4L IS USM $9,055

Any sports photographer is almost certainly going to want both of those, and all that before we start to look at larger format stuff.

Just take a look at the Phase One stuff (and remember thats just for the camera back - the body and lenses woul dbe on top of that), starts at around £11,000 and rises quickly.

i thought about posting that one, too...

the pro stuff from canon is kid's toys compared to that...

except if you put lenses in the equation of course...:

Does he use a trashcan lid as the lens cap? Holy crickets.

I would'nt pay that much for a Camera :indiff:
I'd buy much better stuff, I could probaly get a swimming pool for that price.

I have a 1D - Mk1 though.. Best damn camera I ever owned.. It makes our 5D with VG10 grip feel like a toy... Even though it's only 4Mp, it'll still take pictures that are good enough for A3 off-set printing...

I like it...
