CCX, I'm extremely disappointed with your website.

You promise women, but I didn't see one picture of Judge Judy or Rosie O'Donnell.

I was thinking that too. That's the women part, not the Judge Judy part.

If anyone would like to be blogrolled I'm happy to add a link in exchange for a reciprocal link.

(btw - sorry if the site is down when you try to visit. I'm 1 yr through a 2yr deal with Dreamhost. Anyone familiar with Dreamhost knows that they've been having huge server problems the last 2-3 months or so)

I'm glad you reset that. I was looking at the old one the other day, and it was really out of control. Still, it'll start spiralling again unless you start properlly moderating. Start warning those who are being abusive, then ban them if they don't stop. That Dave guy seems to be the one standing on a podium sighing while everyone else kills each other. "Da real alex" for example. He's insulted you several times, and nobody seems to even try and combat it. It could be so much better, I tells ya! But yeah, it just needs the moderation system sorting and you'd be away. And I'm getting a database error when I view profiles.

Very nice! Blogs can be so beautiful to look at. I like the image module too 👍

Thanks. I've always felt the same about blogs. Simple and straightforward.

I get pretty good traffic, but I'm still working on developing a regular base of readers at my site. It's tough though, writing entries to interest people - I've never been that gifted with words. I think I'm gradually getting better at it though, I just have to keep making regular entries.

The image plugin you mention is a version of Lightbox.

i like Boundary Layers

i want to create my own forum but with all the free hosts i found you have to be over 13:banghead:

How about Invisionfree? It's free & I don't think you have to be over 13. Just click on register to get your forum.

yeah, members are needed and ive tried fixing the logo, but it comes up with a white box with a red x.

with members, the forum will be succesful
Upload your logo in imageshack, highlight the direct link to image & then paste it into place you put the URL for the image. Also do this when you are installing skins. The red cross apears if you don't use a direct link. Never use a thumbnail or a hotlink.

invisionfree terms of service
1 Accepting the Terms of Service:

By creating a board or using an Owner Account, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions as well as the Terms of Use at all times and to any changes made to these terms thereafter. You must be at least thirteen (13) years of age in order to create a board. Unauthorized underage users will therefore have their boards and accounts deleted without notice upon discovery.

but it's only 5 months:)

I assume that's got something to do with COPPA. They have a huge essay for you to read about it. I wouldn't advise ignoring them, but at the end of the day there isn't much stopping you going and making the forum, in the same way that you have to lie about your age to get onto myspace if you're under 16 (or 17, can't remember). Some sites are more serious about it than others, but according to wikipedia there's a lot of critism about how stupidly easy it is to fake your age. Anyways, I honestly wouldn't read too much into the regulations of the IF forum creation stuff. You can sit there for hours if you do, and there's so many registered boards there that it'snear impossibility to moderate new ones.

that's a good point

i don't know:scared:

i wouldn't want it deleted

i'll be 13 in 5 months but i don't want to wait that long, and i think invisionfree would be the best one

Agreed. However, the white space where the "Categories" are makes it seem pretty empty. I'd find something to make it seem more "whole".

I'll try out some background colours and see how it looks.

The ufgaming forum is now looking good, we have a new moderator in place in roadkill, and the generally it looks like the grass is greener.

I can't claim any credit for the php coding (as Giles will know) but I had a hand in the design.

Feedback very much appreciated.

Me likey. Couple of things I'd change, though: the text in the banner would look better if it was anti-aliased, and the SLR needs to be shraper. One other small thing I'd suggest doing is putting in some adverts. Untill you get some people paying you for space, create an account with somewhere like buy.at under affiliates, and you can add a load of ads from different companies. If you're showing ads from large companies, it persuades perspective advertisers. Not to mention you can charge people to get rid of them, and if anyone clicks and does the item in the terms and conditions, you get payed.

I'll check that out later on. I thought the SLR image was sharp but I've been working on a ****ty LCD monitor for the past few weeks.

I didn't really want to put any advertising on the site just yet but I'll bear in mind what you said above. The site hasn't gone live just yet as were still signing up franchises throughout the UK. I have around 15 dealerships who will advertising there cars for sale. I've given them special rates for bulk listings and so far it's looking good. I'm just trying to sign up a major sports car dealer in Hertfordshire at the moment. He's got a Veyron for sale which would bring loads of people to the site.

There are a few additional features coming in arounf Christmas aswell. One is a service where by we come to your house, photograph your car and take full description. It's then advertised on the site, the car is delivered to a potential buyer. The problem is arranging the insurance for the transportation of the vehicle.

It's hard finding the time to do the above especially when I'm still working a full time job which 10 hours a day.

Wow! You've certainly been busy :). I can see you'll have a popular site there.

Hopefully.

As with everything you get over one hurdle and another pops up. I'll get there in the end.
