The only reason i stated driving back to the point that you need practice, is to save you those valuable minutes of driving back around the track to the corners your not so good at. Its nobody elses problem you find it too difficult.
Read? I said series of corners. It'll be easy if it's just one corner, but I'm talking about a series of long, downhill corners that take 1.5 minutes to go through.

I could do it, sure, but would it be better to spend more time practicing than driving back to the starting point? Yeah... I think so. Should you drive back to the beginning of a license test if you fail? No...

So what are you arguing about exactly? That I'm not hard core enough for you or something, if that's the case, then I really don't care.

If your that annoyed at driving 4 minutes back around the track to do those corners, then congratulations, by turning around and taking 2 mins to get back to the start you've halved your problem without changing the game one bit. All im pointing out to you is that your making a big issue that very few people are bothered about. There is sometimes more than just one solution to save you time.
I'm not interested in you being hardcore or not, the fact is, after a few different thread title renames, your asking for opinions on being able to practice certain parts of the track. Myself, and it seems quite a few others, think that practice mode is not needed in GT. That is all.

Lol, just stop.

If I were annoyed about it that much, I wouldn't have run through the nurburgring however many times I have, it'll be a nice feature to have, that is the point. Which few other people agree with you? I see one other person.

There's a reason why it's called practicing, learn it. No, I'm not questioning your ability to know what practice means, so don't yell at me.

No you don't, stop trying to get out of it, I will make a thread and let the people here judge what that sentence means if I have to. We can have a poll, everyone will agree with me, and you'll continue arguing that I meant forever even though, but you'll still owe me a play seat no matter how many posts you make. :) Get a brain, no bet takes forever, so stop scurrying around like a rat and start saving up your allowances! bahaha

Yay, playseat woot! (I hope they ship to Canada at a low cost, I'd hate to make you spend money on me.)

I don't think my example is narrow. As 5 people on an entire forum is hardly a wide demographic.

Rewinding is cheating, and because of this, Kaz will never put it in the game, how much you wanna bet? I say the loser buys the winner a brand new playseat. :sly:

You said never, you didn't put any qualifiers on it, I have forever. Done.

If you didn't mean that, say what you mean next time.

Again, read carefully, I didn't say you are in a mintority, I said your assumption was narrow:

It is flexible and accessible, if you're a child, in which case you'll rewind 5 trillion times per lap at least and throw down the controller in frustration because it's not fun in the same way that a shooting game becomes unfun after a while if you enable god mode.

You assume it will only be positive for children and then you assume they will use it 5 trillion times per lap, then throw down the controller in frustration.

Taking 5 trillion as an exageration, that assumption is still likely to encompass only a VERY small percent of what actually happens, thus narrow.

It reflects the same flawed, narrow minded, assumption based logic that all arguments against rewind have pretty much been based on. It's like Fox News.

And I agree, ever since IDDQD and IDKFA I have been stoutly aware of what options I take and when, that's why I choose the options that will make my time entertaining and leave the other ones for others who will find their time better spent using those options.

The game being GT5. learn 2 context. People have gone to court for a lot less.

5 trillion being a lot of times, as in children who aren't very good will abuse it. Again, context, learn it.

My friend's little brother practices in license tests, which is the way it should be. He's probably better than you actually. If you want to talk more about rewind, go back to your own thread for it.

No I gave you that one also, GT5 specifically.

First we have to pass the point where it might come out as DLC.

Next we have to pass the point where the PS3 is in development at all...

But sadly that still leaves us the ridiculous but not impossible options of what happens years, decades, maybe even centuries down the road.

Hate to say it, but never put's you in a bad, bad spot there...

As you can see I gave you "5 trillion" as an exageration, I wasn't holding you to it. Reading: try it.

And that proves? I have friends who won't play GT because the frustration factor is so high.

The only thing either prooves is that neither of us can make a blanket statement, you can't say people like my friend don't exist and I can't say people like your friends brother don't exist.

Fortunately none of my arguments rely on blanket statements about who doesn't exist. Your's however do...

Not really, as games stop being supported after a certain point, like when the next sequel comes out, not even the dopiest judges would rule in favor of the possibility of an update coming out for a game to implement a new feature after the sequel is due to be out.

Also, the context of that conversation is talking about the release period of GT5 only. And never used in that context isn't referring to the time, but as in Kaz will never implement rewind on RELEASE.

So yeah, you fail, save your money, buy me a playseat, weep. Critical reading: learn it.

They find GT frustrating, so rewind will make it less so?? There is no cure for lack of skills save for practicing, the proper way. :dopey:

Before you go throwing criticism at people, you might want to take a look at your own posts:

  • "learn 2 context"...sure we can all decipher it, but as written it makes no sense at all. Plus, the word "learn" should have a capital "L" because it follows a full stop.
  • Here you are again, obsessed with the word "context". What does context have to do with the analogy of "children abusing the system"?
  • "My friend's", as you wrote it, says "My friend is". So, "My friend is little brother practices...", doesn't make much sense does it? Apostrophe: learn it.
Just thought that, you know, one lesson deserves another.

1. learn 2 context is a popular internet lingo... like "learn 2 math"/"learn 2 lol" etc.

2. what are you talking about?

3. ... ...

.................................

Are you being sarcastic or do you fail grammar that much? Your liek teh grammer po-lice dat tazes him'self bro!

Vaioleto... your talk does not makes sense in my opinon... Gt is famus because some of the tracks, the long ones, are just harder to master than any other console game; You want to make Gran turismo more arcadish and appealing to a wider audience... Bling, Flash news: GT does not need to advertise to a wider audience, since the previous series were always blockbuster titles.
Forza 3 has to do that, Need for speed has to do that, Gt does not!

Why is being able to practice in sections arcadish? It's basically a license test format for every section in the game, what's so arcadish about that?

1. Internet lingo being for what kind of individual? Sad?

2. Exactly.

3. Do you even understand what the purpose of an ellipsis is? I guess not. You should look that up at same time you look up the use of an apostrophe.

The only person failing grammar here is you kid. If you come onto a forum and start dishing out lessons on learning this and that, you'd better make sure that your posts are fault-free, otherwise you will get ripped to shreds. Not only that, you just end up making weak, nonsensical replies like, "... do you fail grammar much?"

Yeah, I fail it all the time...

Nope sorry, you put a bet out there I took it. You don't get to go making addendums and clarifications now, in fact I clearly stated exactly why I love forever bets right as I was taking it, so sorry, stuck with it.

Tis the very basis of the bar bet :)

Oh so close... :ouch:

+1 for spelling grammar right :D

3. Do you even understand what the purpose of an There's no proof (at least when talking about GT5), but it works the same as the license tests. They made you do the same section over and over again, and your skills increased. Rewind would do the same, basically.

1. You're awesome for not using internet lingo on the internet. I'm pretty sure a smiley also counts as a form of internet lingo by the way, you disgusting individual. XD

2. If you can't get the context of something, then don't try to argue it. You need to read.

3. How do you suggest I write something that belongs to a friend, professor? It's funny seeing someone who doesn't know what they're talking about try to correct grammar. I need to show this to my friend'zz. XD

The very fact that you go on the INTERNET to correct people's grammar is pathetic, the fact that you fail at even that is just embarrassing.

You can't bet someone if you don't understand or agree on the conditions upon which you're betting on. I clarified the conditions to you several times in that thread, with you back pedaling wildly to try and get out of it or change the bet to suit you.

Edited your post a bit eh?! All wound up inside are you?!

The only thing I find pathetic is the way people like you react when others push back on you the same way you push others. I truly couldn't give a rats about grammatical correctness, but it does prove one thing - you are one sad hypocrite. You claim it is pathetic to go onto the internet to correct somebody, yet here I am, writing this, all because you saw fit to correct somebody by putting them down in terms of their learning... :dunce:

So what's the correct way to write "Friend's"...? LOL

FYI, it's rat's ass.

I'm tired of this argument, it's one thing to tell someone to understand the context of a conversation and not make replies based on a single comment, but it's a completely different thing to try to correct someone's grammar, fail, and then then call said person a hypocrite. XD

Your lack of competence is most disturbing. *force chokes Nomino

Ummm... you are the one who put the bet out there... it's not my fault if you didn't understand what you said.

As I said before, you can't go adding addendums and clarifications after the fact. You are gonna be in real trouble someday if you buy a house or enter a business contract... best to learn your lessons now like this than then :)

So again, sorry, the bet you put out and I agreed on said "never" and I conceded that you meant GT5 by THE game. That's all there is to it :)

Typical defensive response from an individual digging a deeper and deeper hole for themselves, looking for ways out. It's only a rat's ass when you want it to be because you have nothing else to go on, and each and every time you counter-argue, it gets shot down in flames. Go cry to somebody who (pun untended) gives a rat.

It truly was an honour putting you down like that, thanks for the opportunity. By all means reply and have the last say - it would just further re-enforce the fact that you are one insecure individual on the defensive. See ya!

thought it would be a good time to pull out huh? XD, I can do this all day. LOl

This topic is dead, never to be resurrected again.

This is all very tedious, but:

is wrong.

"My friend's little brother" = "The little brother of my friend".

Just goes to show you shouldn't go round putting people down, especially when you're making corrections that aren't correct.

Gamespot on GTR2
Later challenges in driving school mode break down 15 of the courses on a sector-by-sector basis, letting you tackle each specific section of a track before you run it during the "real thing."

After each sector you also get your time to see if you improved or not. Also note that this helps your practice and get it right before doing the 'real thing'. I don't see rewind as a learning tool, but as an erase my mistake tool.

If you want to learn to get better, you practice practice practice by yourself on an empty track like all other good drivers.

I would say that if you really want to go from good to proficient, shaving tenths off is important and you need to track that.

But if you need to go from flying off a turn or not having a breaking marker to "I got around that turn on the tarmac" then rewind is a convenient way for a casual player to do so without having to go into a practice mode specifically.

As much as they do similar things, they kind of address different stages of the same problem with differnet levels of accessibility.

and realism.

In the real driving simulator.

It's a rather common sentiment that "the real driving simulator" on GT is pretty eroneous all things considered and that technically the most advanced simulators do actually have rewind...

What about a custom challenge mode along with the challenges, select a circuit move 2 points around the circuit map to select the start and end points and select a car. The AI could work out times to beat.

Good ol' genitive case... English for foreigners 101!

While it would help your hot lap practice (by being on an empty track) how would you handle practicing a real racing line at real entry speeds with real positions and speeds of opponent cars? That's something that can only be done (and easily be done) with rewind.

Devedander
I would say that if you really want to go from good to proficient, shaving tenths off is important and you need to track that.

It also teaches you proper racing line through corners. If your shaving off tenths it means your taking the proper racing line and you are driving right. If a noob consistently takes the wrong line into a corner not only will he slow down but he's likely going off course as well.

Devedander
But if you need to go from flying off a turn or not having a breaking marker to "I got around that turn on the tarmac" then rewind is a convenient way for a casual player to do so without having to go into a practice mode specifically.

First off, why is a casual even buying something called a driving simulator? He needs to be playing mario Kart.

Second, there is a racing line for those he need to learn when to brake.

Devedander
As much as they do similar things, they kind of address different stages of the same problem with differnet levels of accessibility.

Rewind is not more accessible, it's more lazy.

I even got my brother who has never touched a racing game let alone a sim to learn the entire Monza track in GTR2 from the cockpit view with traction control in little over an hour using the sector tutorial. He was 10-15 seconds off my pace but was able complete the track with semi proper racing line and without going off course.

If I just let him loose at it and let him rewind everytime he missed a corner by a mile would that be more effective? No.

All he needed to improve pace was more practice, not more rewind.
